Re: Pop Culture Hero?

Jack Burton (mullet, sweet Tec-9)

Philo Beddoe (boxer, ape sidekick)

John Shaft (bad mother..*SHUT YOUR MOUTH!* Just talkin' about shaft!)

Ash (chainsaw, boomstick)

Lloyd Dobbler (kickboxing, Clash shirt)

Chandler Jarrell (leather hat)

Laurie Strode (umm...screaming?)

Still a sausage fest! Were there no 80s female action characters? Sarah Conner is too Sci-fi, Ellen Ripley is out, were are the bad ass babes?

To recap: I'm looking for feature film characters from the late 70s and 80s, no TV or comics.

Well, there is always Brigitte Nielsen’s character from Beverly Hills Cop II, although she was on the wrong side. There is also Grace Jones’ character May Day from View to a Kill, she became good which of course meant that she had to die. From 1985 there is Tina Turner in Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome.

I really can’t think of any female lead characters that are the nature you are looking for. Ripley set the precedent for female character types that don’t come until well after your time period.

Instead of concentrating on the main characters, why not make a team of supporting characters? Should give you a broader range of female characters to choose from.

Why the heck is Ellen Ripley out?!? Alien was 1979!! and she has a cat' date=' ALWAYS have a cat.[/quote']

The movie was released in 79, but not set in 79. The caracter needs to be on Earth in the mid-80s to battle vampires.

Now, when did Thelma and Louise come out? Did they have a cat? Which one had a gun?
