Cancer
Another great piece of gaming music that I'd forgotten until today: Down the Dolce Vita by Peter Gabriel And from the same CD, Here Comes the Flood ... a bit slower, not so good for adventure music. But it does suggest it should have had Before the Deluge come before it. So much for continuity.

Michael Hopcroft
Not the actual recording I'm listening to but the same piece -- the overture to Gioacomo Rossini's opera Semiramede. Semiramede was the last of Rossini's operas written in Italy. No, I haven;t seen it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXNw9iygwwI tkdguy

jackalope
I just discovered this song last week (it came out 8 years ago!) and it instantly became a favorite, I've been listening to it non-stop.

Enforcer84
I think Jon Oliva is the Jim Steinmann of Metal.

Enforcer84
You mean that every song sounds like it should be sung by Meat Loaf? No, Zak does a great job and Jon before him. No Jim and Jon have similar theatrical flair and tend to build to soaring, epic climaxes.

Enforcer84
Right, Original Sin was a Meatloaf Tune.
Ternaugh
Right, Original Sin was a Meatloaf Tune. Actually, it was Jim Steinman's group, Pandora's Box first (1989). Then a modified version sung by Taylor Dayne for "The Shadow" soundtrack (1994), then Meat Loaf (1995). Of the three, Meat Loaf's probably my least favorite version. Another song from Pandora's Box:
