Beethoven Symphony no. 3 in E flat, Op. 55

That Beethoven sure had a way with song titles!

The Third is usually referred to as the "Eroica". Beethoven planned to dedicate it to Napoleon Bonaparte (a daring move considering that the French leader was frequently at war with his adoppted nation, Austria), but abandoned that plan when Napoleon crowned himself Emperor. The new annotation reflected Beethoven's belief that he was writing about the heroic ideal.

Many symphonies, concertos, and quartets have similar annotation names. Tchaikovsky's final symphony, the 6th, was subtitled the "Pathetique". The word is French for "Passionate". It was a great success, but within the year an "honor court" of his peers ordered him to discreetly commit suicide or face a reputation-destroying sex scandal (that the great composer was gay was an open secret, but apparently he had done something completely unforgivable).

I once again find myself reminicing over the sound track to one of my favorite games - and my favorite soundtrack of any game period.

To start off, the intro to the game was amazing visually, musically, and from a story telling perspective. It sets the tone and sense of epicness that will follow.

Please enjoy "Scars of Time" and the title screen sequence to Chrono Cross:

And here is one of my favorite individual pieces from the game: On the Beaches of Dreams

Lastly, here is one of the few pieces of music from the game that features lyrics: Radical Dreamers

Clasped in a child's hands, that trembling light

It reaches even to here, lost at the edge of time

I have kept searching, although I know not your name

Just this one feeling, I seek to share with you

Love and Pain are wrapped together so tightly by time (history)

It too will fade, but I will remember

Forever

Deep in my heart, echoing out since who knows when

More than the evening dew, though dim whispers

To the darkness of frozen stars, this spun up tale

To your distant skies, I pray that it reaches

I read that it involved an affair with the nephew of a local nobleman.

I am listening to yet another Video Game intro. This time it is for Final Fantasy X-2.

Japanese Version:

Of course this leads me to remember how awesome (Koda Kumi) is and that she has lots of great songs.

Here is one I really like:

Koda Kumi has got to be one of the sexiest J-pop/rock/R&B stars I have ever seen.
