Who is this?  I know it's a US admiral from the 20th Century, but most of my guesses haven't worked out.  The very modest array of decorations (for an admiral) makes it mroe difficult.

Not sure.  Someone on my FB feed was asking who this man could be too.

We need help identifying this Vice Admiral. We recently found his portrait in a box in our art collection at the museum – what we know: 1: He was not an aviator. 2. His awards include WWI and WWII victory medals, Haitian Campaign Medal, Yangtze Service Medal and Asiatic Pacific Campaign medals among others. 3. His portrait was painted in 1962 by an artist named McAllister probably from an official Navy photograph. We think he was a Naval Academy graduate probably around 1915-1918. We do not know how his portrait came to our collection and the Naval Academy Museum and the NHHC have not been able to identify him.
