Skills for Battlesuit Technician?

Just wondering about the extent of skills you guys would think appropriate for a 'battlesuit technician' ... he's not really a scientist, per se, but can repair, improve, and modify weapons systems in powered-armor suits and robots. This is my list so far:

Electronics

Inventor

Mechanics

Weaponsmith

SS: Electrical Engineering

SS: Robotics

Anything else obvious I'm forgetting?

I've used a similar list before, with some additions like freakboy suggested. PS:Battlesuit Technician, and SS: biometrics to fine-tune the armor.

As a GM I'd be pretty lenient for exact skills as long as the bases were covered; which, with the suggestions above, I think you've done.

As mentioned' date=' PS: Battlesuit Technician, but I'd also add KS: Battlesuit Technician. The latter will help deal with bad guys that use battlesuits. You might be able to get bonus information from the GM due to your intimate knowledge with battlesuits.[/quote']

Perhaps better yet -- Analyze: Battlesuits (or even Analyze: Technology, though that's more appropriate for a more generalist scientist.)

Analyze: Battlesuit/Power Armor?

Oh, and PS: Air Brush Detailing and Laser Etching, for adding all those neat symbols that supers are always requesting ;)

PS: Adaptation of sick spoilers to a humanoid chassis.

"Walter, WHAT did you do to my armor?"

"I added these sick spoilers to the arms, and put flame decals like everywhere!"

Don't forget skills like Computer Operation and Computer Programming. If you

take a look at the various suits of powered armor that have appeared in the

comics (especially in the original versions of The Official Handbook of the

Marvel Universe) - for example, the Crimson Dynamo, the Titanium Man, and

of course, the various types of Iron Man armor - you'll note that with no ex-

ceptions, all of them require a dedicated computer to regulate the armor's

functions (power distribution, life support, movement, etc.).

In the case of the really nasty battlesuits (like the one that destroyed the

silver-and-red Iron Man armor with a nuke some years ago; I forget what

the name of it was), you'll also need skills/weapon familiarities with things

like missile systems and nuclear ordnance. Familiarity with weapons such as

charged-particle beams, lasers, and plasma projectors is also a must for any

battlesuit inventor/technician/operator.

Re: Skills for Battlesuit Technician?

All kidding aside, here are some other ideas, depending on the battlesuit:

Weaponsmith: (Whatever weapons are appropriate for the battlesuit) or

Weaponsmith: Battlesuit Weaponry

SCI: Metallurgy (or Polymers or Armor-Reinforced Bikini Mesh, whatever the suit is made of)

SCI: Cybernetics (if it's a neuro-interface type of suit)

SCI: Aeronautics (if it flies)

Most of these skills aren't completely necessary, of course, but when you're working with super science, those contributing skill rolls can add up to make a really tough job easy. (How do you think these inventors come up with cool toys like this in the first place? They know a lot about other things and apply that knowledge to the problem at hand. That's why Dr. Destroyer has all the cool toys, because he has the skills and resources to build them, along with one heck of an Inventor skill roll.)

Re: Skills for Battlesuit Technician?

Several KS and PS's

To include:

Aeronautics

Robotics

Metalurgy

Computer Programming

Nanotechnology

Neurological interfaces

Tailoring

Cybernetics

Electronics

Weapon smith

These would be my basic requirement for someone who invents or works on battle suits. Of course lots of other skills would be useful.
