Pete Townshend envisioned the same thing with Lifehouse, and Who's Next was released in Aug 1971, about 3 years before the above video, (cf The Grid and 'experience suits'). Both Clarke's and Townshend's visions are quite similar. However by end of 1971 a dozen or so universities were already joined to ARPANET. For many years the video of the program was thought to be lost, and as you can see the surviving copies are in rather poor condition all things considered. As television Magical Mystery Tour was spectacularly awful, but as was usual in such things the Beatles did there was some great music that came out of it.
