SteveZilla
Re: Order of the Stick I think it was sarcasm, and only the need to keep the audience guessing is why it wasn't more overt -- which imo would be more in line with Tarquin's personality. Vulcan
Re: Order of the Stick Pretty sure it was meant to be sarcasm. Look at the title of the strip, that gives it away pretty well. So. Tarkin knows, and is subtle enough to act like he doesn't... at least to the PCs. Interesting.

I mean that way there is much more drama when it is finally revealed. Also they were obviously putting up such a good show just trying to hide it, he didn't wanted to msis it. Naturally he wouldn't let on to The OotS, but after they left and it's just him and his fellow "partner in crime"? No need to hide it then. casualplayer
Re: Order of the Stick Here's the $64 question...Tarquin's last line. Was it sarcasm or genuine curiosity? His body language is neutral enough that it doesn't lean towards either way. Did you just make a call based on a stick figure's body language? Tarquin knows. He's practically a GMPC. Christopher
Re: Order of the Stick The first part I anticipated. But the last part is simply epic Of course that raises another question: "It's in our own best interest that they succed". And since he didn't mean Nale, it can only mean he knows of the Gates (or at least well enough to know: "Drakentooth = Guardian of World destruction Plot device"). Christopher
Re: Order of the Stick Now' date=' why would Tarquin deliberately mitigate his own advantage by letting Nale know he has it?[/quote'] He was simply giving Nale some tutoring under Malaks (and everyones) nose. He knew Nale was there the whole time, so he made certain that Nale got the same information and the advice to hire more men before going on. While he is certainly at odds with his son and a friend of Malak, he still doesn't wants Malak (or his guards) to kill Nale. Perhaps he thinks fighting Nale is Elan's job/storyline. Lucius
Re: Order of the Stick You say that like Tarquin really considers Nale a threat. Not a question of threat, a question of honor. Tarquin is Lawful Evil, and his own son, the son he raised and trained at that, betrayed him. There's also the fact that he just said it's in their interest for the Order to succeed - implying he has some idea what is at stake - and he knows Nale is working against the Order. Why help the Order and then turn around and assist their enemy? Lucius Alexander Palindromedary of the Stick
