Order of the Stick

I totally didn't think of that...

Hel: You ruined my childhood!

Odin: Sorry?

Loki: Join the club, sister.

Odin: WRONG CONTINUITY!

Well the greek gods do the nasty thing with everything that is not up in the trees on the count of 3.

Sometimes even then. Sometimes with the tree. And sometimes as the tree.

Looks like Norse gods all have family issues instead, daddy issues in particular.

Yeah one of the things that drove me nuts when we covered Greek Mythology in middleschool was the glossing over of the fact that Zeus was a womanizing wife-beater who was married to his sister, and pretty much all of the Olympians were a$$-holes.

I think the Greek gods were depicted the way they were to show that even the gods are "just human", So the males in charge would cut more slack for thier whoring around.

On the other hand it was also not a very serious religion. Following the commandments was more a "nice to have" thing then a "I must attone for every infraction, no matter how minor". So at least they would not have tried to justify an Invasions as "Holy Crusade" or something like that.

Makes you wonder why all the Norse gods are depicted as having daddy issues....

I don't recall the folk lore depicting Odin as being nearly as much of a dick as Zeus... but maybe he was too busy persuing wisdom and fighting the giants and was never home?

Aren't daddy issues basically the foundation stone of Campbell's "monomyth" hypothesis?

Not familiar with that, will look it up.

"Daddy Issues" are certainly a foundation stone of Order of the Stick.

Look at Roy and his father, Elan and his father, Haley and her father, Belkar probably killed his father....

Lucius Alexander

The palindromedary says Varsuvius doesn't count, Elves don't have fathers
