Re: Order of the Stick

Of course there's no guarantee that "other parent" is a pushover. They could have already reached the pinnacle in their chosen field and 'retired' to raise the kids while V went out to build a career. The Dragon might be unpleasantly surprised especially having already expended a number of spells.

"Foolish drake. My mate - a mage - has been travelling for years, did you really think I would not have a way to detect being scryed upon should they wish to contact me? Or that I would not be able to detect such a foul smelling acidic mass such as yourself even though invisible to sight? Did you think the mass of squashed vegetation outside our home would go unnoticed? I did nothing at the time to avoid upsetting the children, but I did prepare for your return." *rapidshots multiple arrows of dragonslaying*

Could be especially nasty if any of the Grandparents happen to be handy.

Re: Order of the Stick

Could be. Frankly, The thought that hit my head was that of "I wonder if V's mate is a 17th level Commoner?" ;)

Still, it would be cool to see V's mate whip out a can of kick ass in any form

Even as a commoner, a 17th level character is a bit of a bad-a$$ - they're a EL 16, which is not exactly a pushover! Give one a scythe and a couple combat feats and watch out!

No match for a 16th level fighter, but can be a TPK against an 8-10th level party...:o

Re: Order of the Stick

I´m sorry, but I still don´t see this as the crucial moment that ties in to V´s prophecy. Didn´t it run something like ¨The four right words to the right being at the right time for all the wrong reasons?¨

Making a deal with the imp to save V´s children doesn´t seem to even come close to being ¨the wrong reason(s).¨

Kind of with you on that. A deal with the devil (or imp) is always a bad choice, but making it to save your spouse and children is only "Evil" in the George Lucasverse.

That's a good point that I had forgotten about. V seems too good, despite being manically driven, to truly do something for 'the wrong reasons'.

Re: Order of the Stick

Oh, I can see V doing something for the wrong reasons, so long as he doesn´t recognize that they´re in fact wrong. He´s a good guy (I´m using male pronouns for ease), but he´s also pretty limited in his scope. Magic Is Always the Answer for V. I can easily see him being blinded by his pursuit of magic, especially considering his recent circumstances, and end up doing something bad in an attempt to do good. He might even justify it as being a necessary evil. He´s already exhibited this behavior, in fact.

#331, yep.

My money? "Evard's Spiked Tentacles...Revised" on a certain kobold Oracle, if I read #628 correctly.:eg:

More seriously, I'll wager it involves the words 'allegiance' and 'Xykon'. 'Right' doesn't necessarily mean 'good', after all.

Re: Order of the Stick

My guess is that the next strip will return to Hinjo & Co. We'll follow their comings and goings for a couple of months, and then back to Xyclon, and then Haley. At any rate, it'll be six months before we see another strip with V in it. When we do, he will not get total power, not yet anyway. He does not get it in time to save his kids. We'll follow him for a few more years (our time) while he looks for the power to find the dragon and free the souls of his children. I'd guess he gets the power roughly the same time as Belkar dies. V is for some reason still unable to help his children.

And then the Snarl eats everyone.

I´d actually be surprised if anyone made the association between ¨right¨and ¨good,¨ in that context, at least on these boards. Most of us have played a game or two, and thus are more aware than the general populace about how words can really play out.

Sociotard- annoyed much?

Re: Order of the Stick

What I'm wondering about is why doesn't V just Teleport to her Masters tower and let him (or her) know about the fraggin' dragon. Are we to believe that V never prepared any teleport spells in case s/he ever found Haley, Belkar, or Roy?

I guess it was a good thing that that cleric in Greysky City removed Belkars Mark of Justice rather than try to contact outside help. Even if V was with Durkon, s/he'd have been worse than useless.

So, no teleports for V.
