Lucius
Re: Order of the Stick Vaarsuvius does not look male. Vaarsuvius does not act or talk like a male. Other characters treat Vaarsuvius as female, except that some consistently refer to her as "he." Vaarsuvius has a masculine name. Of course, male Elves in the World of the Snarl might be effeminate, other people's social customs regarding Elves may reflect some confusion as to their gender classification, and the name may not mean anything too (again, considering that Elven naming conventions may be completely different - after all, naming conventions can be completely different even across Human cultures.) Despite the name, I am pretty sure that Vaarsuvius either is female, or was originally meant to be female before the artist got amused at the confusion (I wonder what caused the confusion? The name is the only thing I can think of) and started playing with it. Chris Goodwin
Re: Order of the Stick V. doesn't seem to have boobs. As a control, Haley does. Of course, neither does V's mate. Maybe elves just don't have boobs.

Zeropoint
Re: Order of the Stick Focus on breasts as a primary marker of sexual development and attractiveness is by no means universal among humans in the real world; why would you expect a different race to have the same preferences as early 21st century America? Chris Goodwin
Re: Order of the Stick There's no reason to assume either V. or mate are male or female. They could both be male or both female; I believe the kids were mentioned as being adopted.
Lucius
Re: Order of the Stick Well, I notice that when they stayed at an inn, the males - Roy, Durkan, Elan, Belkar - stayed in one room, and the females - Haley and Vaarsuvius - stayed in another. None of the Lawful Good characters objected to that who might have been expected to object if they thought of Vaarsuvius as male. Not to mention that Haley didn't seem to mind. In fact, now I think of it, the same scene featured a conversation overheard by the males that they obviously thought was about Vaarsuvius and Haley comparing their breasts, so if Vaarsuvius isn't female, he would seem to have somehow convinced the rest of the Order of the Stick that he is. Cygnia
Re: Order of the Stick Or s/he could be so asexual/uninterested in human females that Haley didn't mind sharing a room with V.

However I´m not sure that his weirdness really relates in a way that seems plausible.
