Genre-crossover nightmares

Cant remember if I mentioned it, but when I was a little kid, I thought the book "Hunchback of Notre Dame" was about some old Notre Dame football player who suffered a career-ending automobile accident injury.  No idea how I got the automobile idea, but I was probably getting it mixed up with the Gipper story.

Not really a crossover but I was thinking about it:

Common sequence of events in old Westerns

1. Man's best friend tell him his woman is no good.

2.  Man shoots and kills best friend, for calling his woman no good.

3.  Man finds out his woman is no good.
