Gemini Ascendant Campaign

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

I guess it was just not destined to happen last night... perhaps next week.
I have been saying that very same mantra for weeks. The Universe just has to realize that I am way more stubborn than it. :D

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

Hey Nol, the other day you asked about an assist creating some canned NPCs... Gove me some specifics and I will work on it. Are you looking for Hero writeups (HDCs), MT Tokens w/macros (RPTOKs), or both?

Also I found a great model if you want to use it to retcon the physical form of the insectoid race of Vrusk...

One last thing

Happy Halloween everyone :D

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

Mostly RPTOK files. The model looks super duper cool. Happy Halloween. Sucks that I have to work on my favorite holiday but there you go.

And one more time; I am NOT letting the recent scheduling/technical difficulties get me down. As long as you folks can bear through these tough times with me, the game will not fail. Just be delayed a wee bit.

Ok I will build a bunch of generic mooks and some custom/elite mooks as RPTOK files. I will have some of them ready for this Wednesday. I was thinking generic soldier, generic seargent, generic junior officer, generic senior officer, generic corpsman, to start with. Then some generic ship crewmen, gneric engineering tech, generic chief engineer, generic pilot, generic navigator, generic weapons operator, generic comm tech, generic sensor tech, generic science tech, generic security/intelligence specialist. What do you think, is there any thing else you might want or need? or any specific things you want?

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

I was waiting for NaNoWriMo to officially start in my time zone last night, so got to work on Rachael and Kaylea... and came out with this picture - it's big (1920x1200 ~500k), so zoom and all that.

Getting a properly aged look for Kaylea is difficult as nothing I've tried has turned out exactly right, so I may eventually look to kit-bash in some wrinkles or something.

Sam on the left, in her usual star gazing wonder. Kaylea in the center, tranquil, peaceful knowing smile. Rachael on the right - you can't tell but she is in a combat/martial stance - with just a hint of anger/aggression on her face, turned so you can see she is the only one with long hair.

I was going to put in something behind them, but after a lot of deliberation decided nothing needed to go there. The original idea was to create clean panel splits with a Air/Water/Earth motif to each (all of them are Fire in their own way). but the final composition flows better.

Trinity

The title comes from a couple of obvious points - there's three of them. But also I'm currently reading the Trinity Series from DC borrowed from a friend, so a bit of idea seepage there.

...

Wow.

Very nice.

If you don't mind me asking, is that from scratch or did you start with a model?

I used DAZ3D Advanced - the base model is the Victoria4 Mesh, with morphs and a few custom tweaks on the 'dials' (shaping the mesh). The clothing are all purchased models of various kinds. I was learning some new lighting tricks with this one as well, I like the softness of the tone that came out.

Each model was rendered separately and the complied in PhotoshopCS3.

Each render took 30-45 minutes.

Nol - I can provide some much smaller head shots of Kaylea and Rachael for MapTool Tokens as well.

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

WOW those are great. I think I have a freebie that ages the V4 model and you control the extent of the aging with dial spins. I will see if I can find it. If I can and it in in fact a freebie I will send you a copy of the installer GA. I do have one that I recently purchased from Daz though, and I think it is a PC item. Are you a club member?

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

If you're talking about the Aged Morph INJ at Daz, I don't have them yet, and don't have the cash on hand - they aren't a PC item, though the PC discount almost makes them affordable.

I may be able to swing it in the "near future" though.

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

Yep that is the one. To bad its not a PC item. Laslo, the guy that is behind Faceshop, is getting set to release a new app called FaceAge that ages models and will work on almost any model, including Daz, Poser, Apollo Max, etc...

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

In other news I had just started on my NPC token for Nol when I got interrupted by post Halloween company, and they just left. By the time I get dinner, a shower, and brush my teeth, it will be my bedtime. I may not get them all done before Wednesday, but I will at least have some of the soldier mooks ready.

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

Hiya two things...

First the most immediate... Since I have today off (Veteran's Day), I am hard at work on those generic tokens for Nol. I hope to have them mostly done before game time tonight.

Second... It looks as if Maptools build 1.3b62 is to be the final build for version 1.3. I would suggest that we give build 1.3b62 about a month of street use and watch the reports from other users before we even consider jumping to it. Then once we make the move to 1.3 the final release, we should stick with it untill 1.4 becomes very developed and stable, unless by group consensus there is some earth shattering release in 1.4 that we just can't live without, and I don't see that being the case anytime soon. To me personally though, that start of version 1.4 will mean that I can get into the meat and potatoes of Java programming and have the gaming world drive my motivation to learn :D

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

I agree with your version try out assessment. Right now I am comfortable with MapTool as it is, but given a relatively clean bill of health by the other users and I will go ahead and upgrade.

I had to reinstall my OS. No. Nothing big or dramatic. Vista just doesn't like a certain aspect of Fallout 3 that I deem essential to play. And the beauty of it? I have MapTool saved to another physical hard drive so all I have to do is change the Port Forwarding to protect the innocent. A few UI tweaks and I am back in business. Once I finish this message I am going to head off and work magic.

Had some ideas for today's (and probably verging into at least one more week's) session(s). Beyond that, not much in the story department has been percolating in my head. I have been playing Fallout 3, so you can probably guess the genre my mind is in. If you don't know what Fallout 3 is, well just imagine a society that has a 1950's U.S.A. mindset with 2050's level technology. Now drop a nuclear holocaust on this utopia and you have the start to an excellent post apocalyptic video game.

See ya in about 4 hours and 50 minutes.

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign

I have completed a Generic Soldier, Generic Sergeant, Generic Liutenant, and a Generic Colonel. One thing came to light when editing the Skill List macro you made for us... It needs to be edited in two places, and it does not autocalculate the roll based on the appropriate characteristic (they are hard coded in). If you don't mind I might take a whack at modifying the macro to do the base roll calculation based on the token properties/character stats. That way if a PC or NPC raises INT for example the roll automatically adjust and you don,t have to manually adjust them. Of course this does not work for familiarities (base 8-), proficiencies (base 10-), or background skills (base 11-)
