Well, it would be intresting, to say the lease. Two, mabie three songs mention Major Tom ("A Space Odyacie"(sp?) and "Ashes To Ashes", and it is questable if "Major Tom" is the same astronaught).

No offence to OUR MajorTom2009.

OK. Hear is the first song, Space Oditty by David Bowie (with sergestions in brackets for Major Tom's charater sheet)

Ground control to major Tom

Ground control to major Tom

Take your protein pills and put your helmet on (Physical Limitation: Adictied to Drugs)

(background sound:Ten) Grown control (nine) to major Tom (eight)

(seven, six) Comencing countdown (five), engines on (four)

(three, two) Check ignition (one), and may gods (blastoff) love be with you (Psychological Limitation: Devout Cristion)

This is ground control to major Tom, you've realy made the grade

And the papers wants to know whoes shirts you were (Psychological Limitation: Closehourse, also a high presence, a reputation (celerberty astronaught), and Hunted: Paparatzie, 11-, Watching)

Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dair

This is major Tom to ground control, I'm steping through the door

And I'm floating in the most peculair way

And the stars looks very different today

Hear I am sitting in a tin can far above the world (Physical Limitation: Adicited to Alchahol?)

Planet earth is blue and there's nothing I can do (Psychological Limitation: Manic-Depresion?)

Through I'm past one hundred thousand miles, I'm fealing very still

And I think my spaceship knows knows which way to go

Tell my wife I love her very much, she knows (DNPC: wife, prehaps children also)

Ground control to major Tom, your circuits dead, there's something wrong

Can you hear me, major Tom?

Can you hear me, major Tom?

Can you hear me, major Tom?

Can you...

Hear I'm sitting in my tin can, far above the Moon

Planet Earth is blue, and there's nothing I can do

Song ends.

Next up, Asses to Asses, then Major Tom.

Re: Susano's Song-Based DC NPCs

Ashes to Ashes by David Bowie, song number two of the Major Tom trigility. Again, sergestions for the charater sheet in brackets.

Do you remember a guy that's been

in such an early song

I've herd a rumor from Ground Control (Reputation limitation: Drug Adict)

Oh no, don't say it's true

Thay got a message

from the Action Man

"I'm happy, hope your happy too

I've loved

all I needed to loved

Sordid details following"

The shreaking of nothing is killing

Just pictures of Jap girls (AK: Japan)

in synthisis and I

Ain't got no monie, and I ain't got no hair(Desitude, DF: Bauld?)

but I'm hopeing to kick but the planet it's glowing

Ashes to ashes, funk to funkie,

we know Major Tom's a junkie,(Reputation: Drug Adit)

Strung out on heven's high

hitting an all-time low

Time and again I tell myself

I'll stay clean tonight

But the little green wheels are folowing me

Oh no, not again

I'm stuck with a vaulable friend

"I'm happy, hope your happy too"

One flash of light

but no smoking pistol

Ashes to ashes, funk to funkie

We know Major Tom's a junkie

Strung out on hevin's high

hitting an all-time low

My mother said, to get things done,

better not mess with Major Tom (repeat infinin)

Song End.

Heavens' date=' that song was awful. Definitive '80s kitsch.[/quote']

Do you realise how many songs from other artest refrence Major Tom? Just be glad I'm only chosing one non-Bowie song (less you realy want lyrics to Miss Major Tom).

Heck, the major has his own Wikipedia page even. Not bad for a 70's drug adicted loser/catinarie story.

Prehaps I should of stuck to something relativly simple...like say 'The Night When The Lights Went Out In Georga'?

Re: Susano's Song-Based DC NPCs

Hallo Spaceboy, from David Bowie. Again, charateristic stuff in brackets.

Space boy, you're sleepy now

You're silhouette is so stationary

You're released but your custody calls

And I want to be free

Don't you want to be free?

Do you like girls or boys? (Psychological Limitation: Bisexual)

It's confusing theas days

But moon dust will cover you

Cover you

This chaos is killing me

So bye, bye love

Yeah bye, bye love

Bye, bye love

Year bye, bye love

This chaos is killing me

Hallo space boy, you're sleepy now

You're silhouette, so stationary

You're released but custody calls

And I want to be free

Don't you want to be free?

Don't you like girls or boys?

It's confusing theas days

But moon dust will cover you

Cover you

And the chaos is killing me

Yeah bye, bye love

Bye, bye love

Eternal

Sweet, sweet love

Bye, bye space boy

Bye, bye love

Moon dust will cover you

Moon dust will cover you

Moon dust will cover you

Moon dust will cover you

Moon dust will cover you

Nothing much, but thay did say that the Pet Shop Boys cover of this song does have something directly to do with Major Tom. I can see this song disapear from the build of Major Tom.

Speeking of Majors...get ready for Major Tom (Comming Home), next.

Re: Susano's Song-Based DC NPCs

Major Tom (Coming Home) by Peter Schilling. The first of many musics which make refence to the spaced out spece man. Again, charatistic stuff in brackets (or something).

(singing in a whisper) Standing there alone, the ship is waiting

All systems are go, are you shure?

Control is not convinced

But the computer has the evidence

No need to abort

The countdown starts, watching in a trance

The crew is certan

Nothing left to chance, all is working

Trying to relax, up in the capsule

"Send me up a drink", jokes Major Tom (Psychological Limitation: Adicted to Alchahol)

The count goes on

(singing in a normal voice) 4...3...2...1...

Earth below us, drifting falling

floating weightless, calling calling home

(back to whisper singing)Second stage is cut, we're now in orbit

Stablizers up, running perfect

Starting to colect, requested data

What will it effect, when all is done

Thinks Major Tom

Back at Ground Control, there is a problem

Go to rockets full, not responding

Hello Major Tom, are you receving

Turn the thrusters on, we're standing by

There's no reply

(back to normal singing) 4...3...2...1...

Earth below us, drifting, falling

Floating weightless, calling, calling home

(back to whisper singing) Across the stratosphear,

A final message, "Give my wife my love" (DNPC: Wife)

Then nothing more

Far beneath the ship, the world is mourning

Thay don't realise, he's alive (Social Limitation: Declaired Legualy Dead)

No one understands but Major Tom sees

Now the life comands, this is my home (Psychological Limitation: Deeply Religous)

I'm coming home

(normal singing voice)Earth below us, drifting, falling

Floating weightless, coming home

Earth below us, drifting, falling

Floating weightless, coming home

Earth below us, drifting, falling

Floating weightless, coming home

Home(repeat word Home untill song ends)

This is going to be the LAST non-Bowie Major Tom song.

Let's see...for the sister in The Night When The Lights Went Out In Georgia, I

can think of at least two things for her character sheet:

Reputation: Crack Shot or Expert Markswoman ("Little sister don't miss when

she aims her gun.")

Secret: Guilty of the murder of her brother's wife and of his former friend (for

which the brother was unjustly hanged).

Out of curiosity, why do you associate that line with Reputation, rather than with Combat Skill Levels?

Re: Susano's Song-Based DC NPCs

OK folks. I decided to do "Stan" by Eminem as a semi-apologie to MajorTom2009 (not that he was offended to my knolage). Just that I am able to put my name on the line also (the s in my handle stands for Stanley). And I don't think Susano did "Stan" yet.

Anyways, charater stuff is after the italics in percentices. And also be awair of profanity (which I use an astericks for some letters).

(Dido sample start...pay atention cause I'll only post the full sample once)

My tea's gone cold I'm wondering why I got out of bed at all

The morning rain clouds up my window and I can't see at all

And even if I could it'll all be gray, but your picture on my wall

It reminds me, that's it's not so bad, it's not so bad...

(repeat sample once more)

Dear Slim, I wrote but you still ain't calin (Psychological Limitation: Obsessed with 'Slim')

I left my cell, my pager, and my home phone at the bottom

I sent two letters back in autumn, you must not-a got 'em

There proabably was a problem at the post office or somethin

Sometimes I scribble addresses too sloppy when I jot 'em

but anyways; f*ck it, what's been up? Man how's your daughter?

My girlfriend's pregnant too, I'm bout to be a father (DNPC: Girlfriend, soon to be born baby)

If I have a daughter, guess what I'ma call her?

I'ma name her Bonnie

I read about your Uncle Ronnie too I'm sorry

I had a friend kill himself over some b*tch who diden't want him (Psycholocal Limitation: Hatred of Women)

I know you probably hear this eveyday, but I'm your bigest fan

I even got the underground s*it that you did with Skam

I got a room full of your posters and your pictures man

I like the s*it you did with Rawkus too, that s*it was fat

Anyways, I hope you get this man,

hit me back, just to chat,

truly yours, your biggest fan

This is Stan

(repeat Dido sample)

Dear Slim, you still ain't called or wrote, I hope you have a chance

I ain't mad - I just think it's F*CKED UP you don't answer fans (Psyclogical Limitation: Easy to Anger)

If you diden't wanna talk to me outside your concert you didn't have to,

but you coulda signed an autograph for Matthew (DNPC: Matthew, little brother)

That's my little brother man, he's only six years old

We waited in the blistering cold for you,

four hours and you just said, "No."

That's pretty s*itty man - you're like his f*cking idol

He wants to be just like you man, he likes you more than I do

I ain't that mad though, I just don't like being lies to

Remember when we met in Denver - you said if I'd write you

you would write back - see I'm just like you in a way

I never knew my father neither; he use to cheet on my mom and beat her (Psychological Limitation: Hatread of Women)

I can relate to what you're saying in your songs

so when I have a s*itty day, I drift away and put 'em on

cause I don't really got s*it else so that s*it helps when I'm depressed (Psychological Limitation: Easly gets Depressed)

I even got a tatoo of your name across the chest (DF: Tatooed)

Sometimes I even cut myself to see how much it bleeds (Psychological Limitation: "Cutter")

It's like adrenaline, the pain is such a sudden rush for me

See eveything you say is real, and I respect you cause you tell it

My girlfriend's jealous cause I talk about you 24/7 (Psychological Limitation: Obsessed with 'Slim')

But she don't know you like I know you Slim, no one does

She don't know what it was like for people like us growing up

You gotta call me man,

I'll be the biggest fan you'll ever lose

Sincerely yours, Stan --

P.S. We should be together too

(repeat Dido sample)

Dear Mister-I'm-Too-Good-To-Call-Or-Write-My-Fans,

this'll be the last package I ever send your @$$

It's been six months and still no word - I don't deserve it?

I know you got my last two letters;

I wrote the addresses on 'em perfect

So this is my cassette I'm sending you, I hope you hear it

I'm in the car right now, I'm doing 90 on the freeway (TF: Small Ground Vehical. Prahaps Combat Driving also)

Hey Slim, I drank a fifth of vodkam you dair me to drive? (Psychological Limitation: Adictive to alchol)

You know the song by Phil Colins, "In the Air of the Night" (KS: Music, about 11-)

about that guy who coulda save that other guy from drowning

but didn't, then Phil saw it all, then at a a show he found him? (KS: Urbin Myths)

That's kinda how this is, you coulda resued me from drowning

Now it's too late - I'm on a 1000 downers now, I'm drowsy (Psychological Limitation: Adictid to drugs)

and all I wanted was a lousy letter or a call

I hope you know I ripper +ALL+ of your pictures off the wall

I love you Slim, we couda been together, think about it (Psychological Limitation: Bisexual?)

You ruined it now, I hope you can't sleep and you dream about it

And when you dream I hope you can't sleep and you SCREAM about it

I hope your conscience EATS AT YOU and you can't BREATH without me

See Slim; Shut up b*tch! I'm tryin to talk! (Psychological Limitation: Hatread of Women!)

Hey Slim, that's my girlfriend screamin in the trunk

but I didn't slit her thrat, I just tied her up, see I ain't like you

cause if she suffocates she'll suffer more,

and then she'll die too

Well' gotta go, I'm almost at the bridge now

Oh shit, I forgot, how'm I supose to send this s*it out?

[car tirs squeal, CRASH, silence, SPLASH]

(play Dido sample)

Dear Stan, I ment to write you sooner but I just been busy

You said your girlfriend's pregnant now, how far along is she?

Look, I'm really flattered you would call your daughter that

and hear's an autograph for your brother,

I wrote it on the Starter cap

I'm sorry I diden't see you at the show, I musta missed you

Don't think I did that s*it intentionally just to diss you

But what's this s*it you said about you like to cut your wrists too?

I say that s*it just clownin dogg,

c'mon - how f*cked up is you? (Psychological Limitation: Extremly F*cked Up, Mentaly, Dogg (LOL))

You got some issues Stan, I think you need some counseling

to help your @$$ from bouncing off the walls when you get down some

And what's this s*it about us ment to be together?

That type of s*it'll make me not want us to meet each other

I realy think you and your girlfriend need each other

or maby you just need to treat her better

I hope you get to read this letter, I just hope it reaches you in time

before you hurt yourself, I think that you'll be doing just fine

if you relax a little, I'm glad I inspire you but Stan

why are you so mad? Try to understand,

that I do want you as a fan

I just don't want you to do some crazy s*it

I seen this one s*it on the news a couple weeks ago that made me sick

Some dude was drunk and drove his car over a bridge

and had his girlfriend in the trunk, and she was pregnant with his kid

and in the car they found a tape, but they diden't say who it was to

Come to think about, his name was... it was you

D*mn!

She left town after the first two murders to establish an alibi, but returned to find her brother had been convicted and executed for one of the crimes. The name "Georgia Knight" derives from her having left a chess piece at some crime scenes - a deliberately meaningless clue meant to confuse the police.

Personality/Motivation: None of her many friends suspect that her heart is given over to despair and guilt over her brother's death. The only reason the judge and the sherrif are still alive is that she has determined to make them suffer first - her attempts to expose their corruption and moral failings have led some local people to consider the mysterious vigilante a folk hero. Few suspect a woman or connect the "Knight" to the earlier murders, except those who, ironically, think the murdered wife (who is still missing but presumed alive) is the Georgia Knight, seeking revenge for her husband whose conviction and execution were both suspiciously hasty. Her plan is to harrass, intimidate, expose, and humiliate her targets until she feels the time is right to get it over with and kill them. The she will exonerate her brother by confessing to everything. Or so she tells herself.

Quote: "That's the night that the lights went out in Georgia. That's the night that they hung an innocent man."

Powers/Tactics: So far no one suspects her of the various murders, break-ins and other actions, or even agrees they are all the work of the same person - the usual assumption is that it's a man or several different men. While she has some formidable skills, she is also often helped by the corruption and incompetence of the local authorities.

Re: Susano's Song-Based DC NPCs

Virgil Cain, from The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.

Original lyrics (not Joan Baez's): http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/s/sophie_b_hawkins/the_night_they_drove_old_dixie_down.html

Wikipedia talks about how Joan Baez mis-heard the lyrics before she recorded them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Night_They_Drove_Old_Dixie_Down

I had no idea that song had been covered so many times.

I'm not posting a version, because I took a totally Twilight Zone twist on him.

He will show up as an NPC in one of my games one of these days.

Background/History: Fernando is a veteran of a long ago war who hasn't completely forgotten either the skills of a soldier or the ideals he fought for.

Personality/Motivation: Fernando has that peculiar breed of nostalgia that cherishes the hardships and terrors of past struggles. In youth he was willing to kill and to die for what he considered right, and now that his wife is gone and children are on their own he would risk his life again - IF he is given something to believe in that fervently again.

Quote: Do you still recall the frightful night we crossed the Rio Grande?
I can see it in your eyes

Powers/Tactics: Fernando is tougher than he looks. Unfortunately that's not saying much.

Campaign Use: Fernando is perhaps most useful as a Contact who has Contacts, or a source of information. Few will notice that the old man's eyes are clear and sharp, or suspect that he can sit on one park bench and overhear enough of the conversation over on that other bench to report the gist of it. Fernando could also be the DNPC father, grandfather, or other connection, to a player character.

Appearance: Now we're old and grey Fernando

Two characters (and a vehicle) for you to play with (thought they'd be fun):  "The Killer" and "Cow Patti"

Song:  Cow Patti (Jim Stafford)

Lyrics

From the badlands came the killer, he lived by his knife and the gun.
He'd cut you just for standing, and shoot you if you tried to run.
He was as big as a tree, and did what he pleased, and everything he did was bad.
They said if you was to kill him, it'd only make him mad.

From the goodlands came the cowgirl, Patti was her name.
She was hot on the trail of that killer on a moped she called Flame.
Cause the killer had killed her daddy just for spittin' in the road,
And you only had to kill her daddy once to get that girl p.o.'d.

Yippee-i-ay - Cow Patti!
Yippee-i-ay - Cow Patti!
She rode into town to find the man that killed her daddy!
Yippee-i-ay - Cow Patti!

The killer hit town at daybreak, ate the door off the local saloon.
He started to drinkin' and you could tell he was thinkin'
There'd be a showdown soon.
Patti hit town in a cloud of dust, old Flame was buzzin' like a saw.
And the whole town got quiet as a church when the killer stepped out for the draw.

Forty shots rang out. Forty people fell.
Patti and the killer missed each other but they shot the town to hell!
The killer took a step toward Patti, said, "It's time I gunned you down"!
But he slipped in something that was laying in the street
And was shot before he hit the ground.
Yes, the killer slipped and it cost him his life
And Patti said as she raced out of town:
"You got to watch your step, when you know the chips are down."

Yippee-i-ay - Cow Patti!
Yippee-i-ay - Cow Patti!
She rode into town to find the man that killed her daddy!
Yippee-i-ay - Cow Patti!
