Automaton INT rolls

Lord Liaden

Question

Greetings, Mr. S. I hope you had a pleasant Thanksgiving.

When a Computer (as opposed to an AI) is faced with an obstacle to carrying out one of its programs/commands, it may make an INT roll to come up with a solution to the problem. Can an Automaton without a computer brain also make such a roll using its own INT score?

Thanks for your time. :)

Re: Automaton INT rolls

Generally no — an Automaton just keeps trying to do whatever it was ordered to do, and if the course of action isn’t obvious it either stops functioning or does the most dramatically useful thing (which usually isn’t to the creator’s benefit.... ;) ). Usually the commands given to an Automaton should be so simple that these sorts of dilemmas don’t arise. But ultimately it’s up to the GM to decide how an Automaton reacts in these circumstances.
