Inglorious Basterds(the newer one): This was okay, but like a lot of Tarentino films...it's better in parts and for qoutable moments than for an overall narrative. It sort of fell apart in the last third where they just decided "the hell with it..we'll just do whatever the hell we want". I figured it'd at least try to be historical. But it is absorbing. Various of the actors you would recognise like Cassel who was the French pilot in Those Magnificent Men in thier Flying Machines and the male teacher from the classic French film Les Diaboliques. Good production, interesting story and I can't stop falling in love with Zooey Deschanel. It also had Alan Cumming in a very different role than his current one of Eli Gold on The Good Wife. Neither as good or as bad as I'd been lead to believe, though given that I've read some histories of Ancient Greece all the "Spartans fighting for FREEEDOOOM" got a bit hard to swallow. What, they don't think audiences would see people as heroic if they're "merely" fighting to defend their homes and families from an attacker? About what I expected...good FX...very predicitible plot....not awful, but when you're a weaker clone of the already weak Independence Day, you shouldn't be singing your own praises too much.
