What Have You Watched Recently?

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

"Puss in Boots"--Overall, better than Shrek IV. The director should be shot, however, for using the Brian De Palma camera stylings. You really shouldn't break the screen into multiple camera shots in a 3D movie.

"City of Ember"--Like most folks, I had missed this one when it had come out. It's an interesting story about a city built far underground to protect a small group of humans from an unnamed devastation above. Things go wrong with the timelocked message to the mayors, and the inhabitants end up staying longer than the supplies were really meant to last. I found it enjoyable, even if the story felt a bit like "Logan's Run" for kids in a few places.

"Casino Royale"--Another one that I missed in theaters. Bond is just starting out, and is extremely thuggish. Daniel Craig does well in the role, and there's obvious growth to his character. Of course, most of that's due to Dame Judi Dench's role as "M", which is really the character that most attracted my attention here.

The animated Green Lantern pilot on Cartoon Network. I had doubts about the reboot style stuff, but it grew on me fast and the story was VERY good. Seriously, if they'd taken the plot and writing for that and put it in the GL liveaction movie, it would have done much better I'm thinking.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

Ditto. Just watched the most recent episode. The Big Lebowski cameo was priceless.

The pain of embarassment over admitting my ignorance about The Big Lebowski is less than the desire to know what that cameo was. In other words, I'm whooshed and would apprediate some patient elaboration. (What scene were you referring to?)

[/digression] I saw Grimm episode III. Good stuff.

Dale and Tucker Vs evil......two hillbillys just trying to go on a fishing trip have to defend themselves against collage students that seem to think they tried to kill them, ......Gorey hijinks ensue...

Community and Parks and Recreation continue a very good run this season.....

Immortals.....was ok...but man every time I saw Micky Roarke in his crab claw/venus fly trap hat...I laughed out loud...

Bond's character develops in CR, but not always in positive ways. As he grew in skill and resourcefulness, he gradually lost much of his humanity. By the end he was ready to take his place as a superspy -- and was also completely sociopathic and cold-hearted. 007's emergence comes at a very high price indeed.

This one in the very beginning:

The ponies are a parody of characters from The Big Lebowski.

It's close to the version of Bond in the Fleming novels which I recommend you track down if you haven't already.

Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

Just got back from Immortals. It...sucked...in a BIG way. Let's see...let's make a big movie based on the Greek myths and then make it as nonmythological as humanly possible. A total borefest that made the Clash of the Titans remake look good(and that's saying something). I say...skip it.

The trailers made it look utterly awful.
