Interesting approach, you basically use the proxy as a bounce point on a mental attack.

 

I just suddenly had this notion (which might not be possible to build in Hero ).

 

Sure it is, just separate the Mechanic and the SFX.

 

Mechanically, you mind scan for and blast the target.

 

Your Mind Scan has the -1/4 limit "all targets must be visible to a third party", similar to the Only through the eyes of others limit on Clair powers.

 

You buy your Ego Attack with Invisible Power Effects and Fully Indirect.

 

Your special effect is that you bounced the Ego Attack off of the third party to hit your target. Your target will not know it was you that attacked him, because you paid points for IPE.

I'm pretty sure there were rules for this in 4th Ed's Ultimate Mentalist. I'll have to see if I can did that out and see.
