Cool Guns for your Games

Does anyone have any idea how practical a 100 round drum in 7x43mm would be for a bullpup rifle? I'm working on a concept. The Norinco QBZ-95 in 5.7x43mm has a variant, the QBB-95 LSW with a 75 round drum, so I've been wondering.

100 rounds might be unwieldy depending on how it attaches.  I see 50-round 5.56mm drums used on bullpups, but twice that capacity in a larger caliber could easily make it too hard to either get a good cheek weld or reach the grip.  Some drum mags hang forward and down, though, which might leave enough room to reach around with the firing hand.

I'd thinking a game with supers, a proliferation of the various modern (and WW2), man portable, 20mm cannons would proliferate amongst those that can afford them (or steal them.  things in the 4,1/2Dt6 and 5 D6 category are possible, and with the various ammunition types, would allow a lot of utility.  A recent-ish addition to this family is  the Denel NTW 20 Anti-Material weapon.

The South Africans Military and arms industry has been working on other systems that work on 20mm cases as well. Next is the Inkunzi PAW, formerly known as the NeoPup:

That weapon would be more suitable as single man portable, for agents and organized thugs expecting super opposition

All of these are based around the  standard 20mm projectile, that Oerlikon made famous in WW2, so much so that every combatant in WW2, used the Cannon or a licensed copy of it.  Because a 20mm projectiles is just under an inch in diameter, you can fit all sorts of things in it, and it has enough size nd mass to carry it's payload to your target. Today anything that can use standard 20mm projectiles, even if they are mated to proprietary cases, still will give the weapon a lot of capability to put damage down range. Here are the ammo types currently available, for you system tinkerers to make for the system

Hopefully this gives  you something extra to arm your agents and thugs with, in a more serious, dark and gritty campaign, perfect for Dark Champions.

Today I bring you the LMT CSW, an integrally-suppressed confined space weapon (CSW) chambered in .300 AAC. Your military-equipped personnel will appreciate the reduced recoil, muzzle flash, and noise levels that come with this 24inch OAL rifle when using it to defend confined spaces such as bunkers, ships, and similar locations. The platform easily meets SOCOM’s SURG ("suppressed upper receiver group") requirements and passes the SURG high performance stress test, offering rifle caliber force in a substantially smaller, suppressed profile.

Spare no expense when it comes to the lives of your men; give them the equipment they need: the LMT CSW - for the ultimate defense in hyper-close/confined quarters.  Starting at $3999 per unit...

Kazei 5 (page 100) actually has stat blocks for this in 14.5x114mm, 20x83.5mm, and 20x110mm.

Mayfair's Underground RPG had stats for oversized and overpowered small arms, including a 30mm pistol and very powerful long guns.  A 30mm handgun, going by scaling up a 10mm, would be somewhere between 3-4d6KA, plenty powerful enough for low-midrange supers.  Throw in specialized rounds and they'd likely be lethal against many supers.

For a decidedly un-cool gun, I saw a Forgotten Weapons YouTube video about the USFA ZIP .22LR pistol. As the host said, it is a weapon that truly deserves to be forgotten -- it put the manufacturer out of business, it was so bad.

There's not much market for a 1d6-1 RKA, 10 charges, 11- Activation w/ Burnout.

Take an ugly, stamped, unreliable Ingram MAX-11 9mm, replace the bolt, stock, and upper with appropriate Lage Manufacturing parts, and voila, you have an inexpensive, highly-reliable, accurate, and modern 9mm SMG that easily fits in a briefcase … for a price far lower than transferable 9mm Uzis, MP5's, and similar form-factor SMG's.

30mmm is up there with the .58 caliber  black powder projectiles.  Thopugh even a four gauge  "elephant gun" from the black powder era would need a shoulder stock. 30mm Recoil, without significant recoil mitigation (weight, hydraulic recuperators, significan padding and bracing structures),  would be nearly as detrimental to the user as the target. Remember Muzzle energy goes both ways.

Heck, in a world that has supers, multi shot recoiless shoulder weapons would be likely "thing" so 4 to 6 shots of 20mm or 2-4 30mm Might be a common military grade system.

Hell, the proliferation of the Swedish Carl Gustav launcher now into the U.S. Army, is an indicator that  even without superheroes, spreading the "Boom" around the squad is useful, and unlike the M-72A1, can be reloaded fairly quickly. (Watch some of the Swedish ground forces teams do quick engagement end reload drills, back in the 90's. Really impressive).

Sorry to get back to this late, But the North Koreans use a helical drum system for some of their more recent Kalashnikov derived Type 98 Assault Rifles. These are in 5.45x 39mm, but I have no clue how many rounds their magazines hold. The magazines look very similar to the 9mm magazines for the Old Calico firearms. Note Picture.

Sure, though Underground is a game about people with superpowers.  So I'd expect someone wielding such a gun to have some degree of superhuman strength as well.

Well.... .all right, then. if you have the strength to lift and use it, then The limitation would be ammo availability, and the strength needed to hold it as a pistol. XD.
