tkdguy
Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine I was just kidding. Seriously though, great job on all of them. I enjoy Irish mythology too. Edit: Are you going to work on Balor too?

DusterBoy
Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Now there's an Evil Eye you want to steer clear of. Although I'd always pictured Balor with two eyes, one normal, one burning. And about 100 feet tall. I hear his head got hauled onto the battlefield and his eye was used as artillery or some such. DusterBoy
Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Although it turned out badly for the bad guys when Lugh of the Long Arm shot a rock from his rod-sling into the eye hard enough to punch it through the back of Balor's head, incinerating every one behind him, thus vanquishing the Fomorian army. I love Irish legends.
tkdguy
Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine I once read this trilogy where Balor was a gigantic human-shaped mecha with a laser cannon in the eye. Except nobody knew the truth until Lugh killed it and found an old man in the control room.

The Arc
Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Tiergarten Background Gunter von Wolfburg is the grandson of Wilhelm von Wolfburg who was one of the original Ubermesch. His close associates knew Wilhelm officially as Der Wolf-Man des swartzen Waldes or the Wolfman of the Black Forest and as Wolfie privately. Wilhelm served honorably with the Ubermensch, like Max Uber who was the leader of the Ubermensch. When Max Uber finally rebelled Wilhelm rebelled alongside him. Ubermensch fought Ubermensch in a bloody battle that saw terrible deaths on both sides. Wilhelm barely survived the battle, one of the few who did. However, he was so severally wounded that he never attempted to use his abilities again. Wilhelm retired from adventuring, concentrating on being a member of the West German Bundestag. He was responsible for a lot of the reconstruction of West Germany even though he remained living in Allied occupied West Berlin. During his retirement, Wilhelm married a nice frau and they had several children. However, none of their children showed any signs of the shape changing uber-ability that Wilhelm possessed. Wilhelm's young son Carl, an English teacher at a private school, had child the day that the Berlin Wall fell. Wilhelm was ecstatic. Gunter was his seventh grandchild born. Holding Gunter, Wilhelm felt a kinship to Gunter that he had never felt for any of his children or other grandchildren. Wilhelm was certain that Gunter was going to be special. When Gunter reached puberty, Wilhelm's feeling proved correct. While visiting the Berlin Zoo, Gunter disappeared. No one knew where he had disappeared to. While passing the wolf enclosure, one of the wolves took a keen interest in Wilhelm. The old man had to smile. He knew that the wolf was really Gunter. Scolding the boy, he told Gunter that he needed to get out of the wolf enclosure, because he was scaring his mother. Chagrined, Gunter became an eagle and flew up and over the fence. Landing next to his grandfather Gunter returned to being a boy. His mother was surprised, and a little shocked. She didn't know much about Wilhelms past. It took several hours to call Gunter's mother down. Afterwards the boys parents and Grandfather sat down and talked about what to do about Gunter. Gunter was impulsive and with his ability to change shapes it was going to get him into trouble at school. Wilhelm decided to turn to his old friend Max Uber who had been making a name for himself as a super-hero since the war. Young Gunter and Wilhelm paid a visit to Max Uber at the Uber Aufsatz. Wilhelm explained his problems with his grandsons impulsive behavior. Gunter just sat their in awe of Max Uber. His grandfather had told him many stories about the great German hero, Max Uber, but to actually meet him in person was almost overwhelming. Max Uber even spoke to Gunter, but Gunter couldn't remember what was said he was so star struck. Max Uber called in his fellow U-Force member Immorta and asked her what to do about Gunter. Immorta seemed to grow angry at the question, and snapped. "Why Max the question is simple. Any dolt can see it clearly." Immorta paused as if trying to regain her composure. "I'm sorry Max, I didn't mean to snap like that. Ach...I need a vacation...Anyway...Doctor Saul Neuman...Do you know him?...No?..no problem...Herr Doctor Numan is setting up a special class for young Ubers at his Angelus Academy in Melbourne. I think it wouldn't take much to get an interview for young Gunter." It actually took about two months to arrange everything. Gunter was accepted into the special class, and was soon on a plane headed for Australia. Wilhelm was at the airport when Gunter left, and was the last to leave. The old man stood watching the plane fade into the distance, he was going to miss the boy. Personality Gunter is easily excitable. He rarely thinks before he acts. This ususally gets him into trouble. Gunter is a good boy but way too impulsive. Some people think he's a hot head. His mother thinks he gets it from his grandfather. Wilhelm was known for his wild ways when he was a lot younger. Gunter is also a big fan of Max Uber. He believes in Max Uber all the way. Gunter strives to be like Max Uber his idol. He has even been known to quote Max Uber. His dorm room is plastered with Max Uber posters and memoribilia. Quote "As Max Uber would say, I've heard that line before." Powers Gunter is a metamorph or shape changer. He's able to assume the shape of at least eight different animals. In his animal forms, Gunter retains his human intelligence. Even without assuming an animal form Gunter's senses are a lot keener than a normal human. His hearing is so good that he can hear sound normal humans ever could. His eyes are so strong that he can easily see at night. Physically, Gunter is in peak physical shape for a boy his age. He can run, leap, and swim better than the average adult athlete. Before coming to the Angelus Academy, Gunter was considered one of the best swimmers in Berlin. Appearance Gunter is a handsome young German teenager. He has sparkling blue eyes, and straight blond hair. Gunter wears clothing overlarge; sweatshirts, baggy jeans and flip flops. Underneath his clothes he likes to wear a pair of black speedoes. His favorite colors are black, red, and yellow.
