Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine

Well, my downloaded version of FdH 1.0 has gone pear-shaped, and I don't have access to most of the online utilities during the day due to filters at school. So I did a character with the only one I could find this afternoon, over at Marvel. The app is rather limited, but it's what I can get to.

Anyway, here's my take on an old favorite: Solitaire from the Champions:

I don't think I ever saw an official description of the color of her costume, but I always pictured it being red.

Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine

Solitaire's outfit (prior to the changeover to 5th Edition) started out purple,

but just before the switch to 5th Edition, it became a red outfit. As I recall,

the cover of the Atlantis sourcebook was where the red outfit made its

first appearance. Given a choice between the two, I preferred the red out-

fit.

Here's the first of a pair of monsters I'd put together as an exercise in

critter creation -- the Darkwing:

Standing 15+ feet tall, the Darkwing has razor-sharp claws on both hands

and feet, as well as twin scorpion-like tails complete with stingers. It can

use its clawed feet like hands, using them to seize an unwary victim after

first making a diving attack from high altitude (it prefers to attack in this

way at night, taking advantage of its ability to fly as well as its superior

night vision; its dark coloration makes it next to impossible to spot under

such conditions).

The Darkwing is possessed of human-level intelligence, making it an ideal

minion for an evil sorcerer (whether in a swords-and-sorcery setting, or in

a superheroic setting where Doctor Strange-type wizards duke it out with

grimoires and spells rather than with optic blasts or super-strength).

And here's the second of the two monsters -- the Devourer:

Looking like a gigantic spider with the upper body of a humanoid being -- not

to mention the four tentacles like those of a squid -- the Devourer is, in

essence, an energy leech. As such, its diet consists of the unique energies

possessed by individuals such as superheroes or wizards. Those beings

who possess psionic abilities are the only ones who are safe from the

Devourer, as their unique energies cause a sort of allergic reaction to it.
