Father Malcolm

Father Malcolm is the leader of Aqua Sanctus, a group of exorcists from around the world who fight supernatural threats. Father Malcolm represents the Catholic Church, while the other other members are of different faiths.

Vladimir

Vladimir is the former bishop of Kitezh, a city in Russia that sank into the Volga River after the town was attacked by a horde of supernatural creatures. Vladimir represents the Russian Orthodox Church in Aqua Sanctus. However, the church doesn't recognize Vladimir due to the fact that Kitezh supposedly sank in the 13th century. Naturally Vladimir doesn't talk much about his past.

Vigil the Vanquisher

Vigil the Vanquisher is an ally of Aqua Sannctus in that she possibly the closest the group has to a super-hero. She has kept her true identity a secret from the group. However, there are times when Father Malcolm feels something supernatural about Vigil even though she's the staunchest ally an exorcist could have in a fight against supernatural enemies.

Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine

Raptor Force isn't the only enemy that the Shadow Emperor and his minions have to deal with.

In his own dimension, his efforts to bring about the conquest of every living being that inhabits

it are being opposed by a group of highly-unusual individuals known as the Regulators:

The members of this group are:

Dorothy, a young woman from Earth that has telepathically bonded with a "sanguinosaurus", a

dinosaurian lifeform that resembles a Velociraptor from Earth's distant past -- only far larger and

more intelligent than its Earthly counterpart;

"Crow", a masked guerilla fighter who was engaging in hit-and-run raids against the Shadow

Emperor's minions even before he met Dorothy. No one has ever seen him without his mask,

not even his fellow Regulators;

"Tin Ranger", who was once nothing more than an autonomous forestry robot -- until an accident-

al upload of an experimental computer program resulted in his gaining sentience, as well as a con-

science. Recognizing that the Shadow Emperor's goals were evil and could only result in slavery for

countless beings, Tin Ranger (the name that he chose for himself) joined with Dorothy and Crow to

fight against the would-be conqueror and his forces;

Lord Aslan, the sole surviving member of his kingdom's royal family following the Shadow Emperor's

successful conquest of his homeland. Like "Crow", he carried out several guerilla attacks against his

enemy until meeting up with the three freedom fighters. Recognizing that they had common cause,

he joined with them to form the Regulators.

The Regulators are aided in their fight against the Shadow Emperor and his forces by Arianna, Princess

of the Munkins in Exile, and those of her people -- both of her army and civilian population -- who were

able to escape with her to the Outerrealms Zone, a place that is home to an interdimensional nexus

that provides access to many worlds and universes, including that of Earth. Another ally -- even if he

is a difficult one at times -- is a mysterious masked and robed sorceror who is known only as the Emerald

Sage.

The Regulators divide their time between guarding the OZ against the Shadow Emperor's attempts to

invade it, and carrying out raids against his forces and bases, in order to force him to tie down more

of his troops in protecting his territory against them. From time to time, they are aided by Raptor

Force in this endeavor.

The Regulators were originally created by The Arc; I simply did my own take on them and fleshed them

out a little.

Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine

The most stalwart allies of the Regulators (and of Raptor Force) are the elfin-like beings known

as Munkins:

Although they are short in stature (the tallest Munkin only stands about 4'6"), Munkins can

be every bit as courageous in the face of the enemy as any human being, even if that enemy

is several times their size. With their golden skin, orange-red hair, and luminescent green-on-

black eyes, the Munkins are the most recognizable race in their dimension, and are universally

trusted by the majority of the races native to that dimension.

Until the rise of the Shadow Emperor, the Munkins were a peaceful people, one that had no need

for war or even an army to defend themselves. After the first conquests of the Shadow Emperor,

however, they saw the writing on the wall, and immediately set about the task of raising and

training an army with which to defend their kingdom. Less than one Earth year later, the Shadow

Emperor's forces attacked the Munkin kingdom and were repelled by the kingdom's defenders.

Three more attacks followed in rapid succession; on the third attack, the emeny was successful

in breaching the defenses. While a small group of volunteers remained behind to delay the enemy,

Princess Arianna and 12,000 of her people -- 4,000 of whom were soldiers -- escaped to the OZ,

where they were given refuge by the Emerald Sage, and where they have remained to this day.

The picture above shows both Princess Arianna and a group of her Royal Guardsmen.

The Munkin Rebels were originally created by The Arc, and reimagined by me.

Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine

One of the most powerful beings in the home dimension of the Shadow Emperor is the sorceror

known only as the Emerald Sage:

The sole inhabitant of the OZ prior to giving Princess Arianna and the Munkin refugees sanctuary

within it, the Emerald Sage has since turned his power to the task of defending the interdimens-

ional nexus from the Shadow Emperor's efforts to take it -- and the OZ -- for his own evil purp-

oses. The arrival of the Regulators in the OZ has greatly aided his efforts in that regard, for many

of the spells that he uses to protect the OZ require certain material components which he can no

longer leave the OZ in order to collect. The Regulators don't really mind doing this necessary

collection work, even if they do regard the sorceror as a "crotchety old coot" (an image that he

has carefully cultivated over the years, and which provides him with a certain amount of amuse-

ment).

Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine

Among the servitor races that make up the Shadow Emperor's forces are a race of winged primates,

who are known throughout the dimension as Demon-Apes:

These horned, magenta-furred beings serve as slavers to the Shadow Emperor, using their power

of winged flight to silently raid unsuspecting villages or isolated homesteads, taking only the most

healthy (and, in the case of female captives, most beautiful) of their inhabitants. While they don't

set out to kill anyone during these raids, casualties among their victims -- especially where the

family members of their victims are concerned, and who, more often than not, do their best to

keep their relatives from being carried off into slavery -- can be high.

Following the forced exodus by Princess Arianna and her people to the OZ, the Shadow Emperor

sent a large party of Demon-Apes there to try and capture as many of the Munkins as possible,

including the Princess. Needless to say, the mystical defenses of the OZ proved to be more than

sufficient to stop the raid cold. This setback, however, hasn't dissuaded the Shadow Emperor

from continuing to try to gain access to the OZ; indeed, recent rumors suggest that the conqueror

has recruited a group of warriors known as Gareth Shocktroopers to carry out a ground attack in

support of the next Demon-Ape aerial assault...

The Demon-Apes were inspired by The Arc's Flying Munkies pic.

My gaming group has got themselves a new ship in our Terracide campaign. (Actually they're playtesting some stuff for me so they're playing a whole new set of characters.) And the Celestial Guard Fleet Intruder Barrel of Monkeys (they picked the name, not me) has a number of NPCs on board.

A more motley crew, I have not seen.

Here's one to add to the bad babes that The Arc has posted here so far, and the idea

came from him in the first place -- the enemy of Vigil the Vanquisher, Sister Kali:

Sister Kali wields six "energy-katanas", two of which she holds and the other four

which float in mid-air near her, and which she is able to control.

Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine

Recently, a new group of supervillains made its appearance in India, where they have

proceeded to terrorize the populace. Although humanoid in appearance for the most

part, each of them is possessed of animalistic features of one sort or another. They

collectively refer to themselves as the Asuras, after the demons of Indian mythology,

but it is as yet unknown if they are actually supernatural beings, or mutants who are

attempting to take advantage of their appearance by playing upon the beliefs and

fears of the Indian public.

The first of the Asuras is Aghasura, the "serpent-demon":

Possessing a humanoid upper body with a cobra-like head and a serpentine lower

body, Aghasura is a massive being indeed, with a length of 30 feet. What is truly

frightening, though, is that he apparently has the power to grow to even greater

size -- one reliable account put his length in his larger form at over 120 feet. In

addition, he also possesses a venomous bite, and can spray his venom at an oppon-

ent as well. The venom itself is an extremely potent neurotoxin; while someone

who has only been sprayed in the face with it has a chance to avoid blindness if

they're able to wash it out before that happens, a bite victim has less than a min-

ute before the venom shuts down his autonomic nervous system -- leading to the

victim's death by suffocation as his lungs and diaphragm stop working.

Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine

The second of the Asuras is Bakasura, the "cannibal-demon":

Bakasura could almost pass for human, if it weren't for his fang-filled mouth,

pointed ears, and slitted, reptilian eyes. And as for his moniker, it's apparently

well-earned -- several of his victims have vanished from the face of the Earth,

leaving no traces other than a huge puddle of blood and some scraps of what

were once their clothes nearby. Bakasura often hunts for victims in concert

with Jatasura, the rakshasa-demon. Bakasura's part in these hunts is that of

a beater, as he prefers to chase his prey into the waiting arms of Jatasura (who

has used his power to appear as either one of the victim's loved ones, or some-

one that they trust).

Once the victim is in Jatasura's grasp (and Bakasura catches up to them), the

rakshasa-demon drops the illusion, allowing the victim a brief instant to realize

that he or she is doomed before being killed by the two Asuras; nothing gives

them as much pleasure as that moment of terrible realization in their victim's

eyes.

The third of the Asuras is Chanda, the "moon-demon":

Although possessed of superhuman strength like the other Asuras, Chanda differs

from them in that his physical strength increases upon direct exposure to moon-

light; he has been obseved to lift weights in the 100-ton range on a clear night.
