Mainman112
Hey everyone. I’m new so I’m not sure if this has been asked before. (I looked). My group and I have wanted to start a Fantasy Hero’s game however we can’t find the book. We do not want to buy the PDF and would like to own a few hard copies of it, however, the book store here does not have it (paperback) and Amazon is selling the book for almost $100. Is the book gone?
Darren Watts
Re: Where is Fantasy? Fantasy Hero is currently out of stock. A reprint is planned, but had to be delayed when the video game announcement caused several Champions titles to also sell out of stock, and they got moved ahead of Fantasy in line. It's still planned, and will hopefully happen in the next month or two. dw

Guest Admiral C
Re: Where is Fantasy? I thank my lucky stars that I bought my copy of FH the first time it came out. Though I still plan on picking up a hardcopy when it comes available. That and my friends will be picking up another 2-3 copies between all of them. Mainman112
Re: Where is Fantasy? Thanks for the update. My group can't wait to start playing FH. I did not see a copy as of a few days ago on ebay however I will look again. I do wish that it would come out sooner rather than later. I know that my interest in D&D 3rd was growing weak after playing it for 8 years and after playing a few games of 4th (can't stand it) I am ready for a good Fantasy RPG that has a real feel to it rather than an over the top action cartoon. The more I read about FH, the more it looks like a really fun game.

Fantasy Hero is a guide to setting up and running Fantasy Games. To just hop right in pick up with the Fifth Edition Rules or Sidekick (Sidekick is good for people completely new to the Hero System). And then pick up one of the Fantasy Setting Books: Turakian Age - High Fantasy, the classic Fantasy RPG Style Valdorian Age - Low Fantasy, Sword&Socercy style RPG. Tuala Morn - Celtic Fantasy, can be high or low, default runs down the middle (low magic Fantasy could also be termed here). Atlantean Age - Very High Fantasy (really really powerful Fantasy): Due out later this month. Or just use the rules and your imaginations and make up your own world! Fantasy Hero makes this easier, though.
mayapuppies
Re: Where is Fantasy? Ok, I felt it was time for a bump on this one. I have a bunch of frustrated Hero Fans at my local FLGS and one of their frustrations is getting their hands on Fantasy Hero...or the inability to. Any word on the reprint of this legendary tome? Mainman112
Re: Where is Fantasy? mayapuppies, You are not the only one in awe that Fantasy Hero is missing. I'm supprised that there is no ETA for it. I have the The Turakian Age and it is a good book however, its like buying Forgotten Realms and what you really want is the Players Handbook. Since the brunt of Fantasy Hero is setting up your own game world and campaign, you really don't need it to run a Turakian Age campaign if you have that setting. All you need is either the Fifth Edition Rules or the Sidekick Rules. Fantasy Hero has no rules in it. Just advice. Lots of it, yes, but you're still going to need a Rule Book to use it. eternal_sage
Re: Where is Fantasy? i strongly suggest sidekick, if you are new to the game. that is more along the lines of the Players Handbook/Dungeon Masters Guide, but it is a little simpler than the Big Book. you will likely find that the Big Book is what you ultimately want, but i really do suggest Sidekick as a starter level (they really ought to package those things together, in my opinion, like a box set or something). if you are really stout hearted, however, the 5th edition book (the aforementioned Big Book) has all the rules needed. Fantasy HERO is more for if you want to build your own setting, or tweak one, and has alot of good advice for doing so. its more of an advanced product, if you will (and in that way, also shares some similarities to the Dungeon Masters Guide, albeit without the rules, which are all in the Sidekick, HERO System rulebook) and welcome to the club. you'll find that we are a mostly nice bunch, who have mostly had our shots. except for ghost-angel and beware of any bunnies stalking through the forums. they are the apex predators around here! I believe Turakian Age reference several packages in Fantasy Hero, not sure if TA makes other references to Fantasy Hero in other sections or not. Savinien
Re: Where is Fantasy? From my experience, Fantasy Hero helps with some specifics for chargen that I don't believe exist within TA. I've also found that the Fantasy Grimoires are an excellent addition to any Fantasy Hero library.
