Foods for those that just don't care anymore

Years ago I read an interview with Gary Larson (creator of The Far Side) where he had the exact same idea for a cereal restaurant.  I wonder if he ever acted upon it.

I don't know if Gary Larson ever acted upon it, but there are a few cereal cafes around.

They no longer have the Big Breakfast anymore.  You can ask for a biscuit instead of an english muffin, but it's the one with bacon, sausage, hot cakes, and hash browns.

Here in the Detroit area it's still the Big Breakfast and comes with a biscuit as a matter of routine. No bacon with it either. Just Eggs, Hot Cakes, Sausage, Hash Browns, and a Biscuit.

That's how it is around here too and the only place you get bacon is on the breakfast sandwiches though I guess you could request it in some fashion ("One bacon and egg biscuit, hold the biscuit and egg.")  Fast food restaurants, despite their reputation for being homogeneous, can vary a great deal from region to region, country to country.

About 10 years ago, I was sent to Wellington, New Zealand for two weeks of training. I found that the NZ McDonald's there still had the deep fried apple pies.

Before my Mom passed away last year, I'd visit her in Maine for a week. I'd usually make a breakfast run to McDonald's during that time, as it was the only way that I could get a Steak, egg, & cheese bagel*. It had been removed from the Western US menus about the same time that the McGriddle showed up. Maine McDonald's also would often have lobster rolls on the menu, though I couldn't bring myself to order that.

*Which looks to have been replaced by a Bacon, Egg, & Cheese Bagel, which is just not the same.
