Foods for those that just don't care anymore

Lady P makes a delicious BBQ chicken pizza. Grilled chicken, red onions, and bell pepper as the toppings, with a cheddar/mozzarella cheese mix and barbecue sauce instead of marinara.

(You can also put pineapple on it, if you're into that kind of thing.)

Only if it's dark meat.  White meat tends to get overcooked too much for my tastes.

Either way, a pre-bake dusting of pesto wouldn't go amiss. Should marination be an option...all the better.

Ah. For me, this is one of those "Bigfoot" foods: mentioned far more than it is seen.

"New York Style" tends to be a hand-tossed pizza a larger, flatter slice. It's typically eaten by folding the pizza slice along the long axis, as there's very little structure to keep it from collapsing otherwise.

Also "New York style" uses a much more "watery" base, so the toppings are less adhered to the crust....

Made something this evening I hadn't made in a long time.  It is fast and convenient, and despite its ... blandness? ... it seemed to have been a favorite of my father's, I think because they seemed to have had it relatively often when he was in his elementary school years (he was born in 1928, so that was the depths of the Great Depression).  I call it Depression Style Beans, though Dad simply called it kidney beans.

Dice half an onion.  Maybe add a bit of garlic powder, no more than half a teaspoon.  Saute that with some (doesn't take much; tonight I used half a pound plus) ground beef in a skillet.  When onion is soft and meat is mostly browned, add three or four cans of dark red kidney beans.  Bring to a simmer, then cover and simmer for about half an hour.  Best served over bread, especially stale bread.

My wife would, of course, add a number of other seasonings, but she finds the purplish grey color offputting, which is why I don't make it often.
