The only substantial difference in his background AFAICS is the inclusion of "radiation" as one of his mutating factors' date=' which Cryptic appears to have emphasized. I raised this point on the Champions Online discussion forums, and one of the Cryptic forum reps mentioned that they had in fact followed the relevant text about Grond from [i']Champions Universe[/i], and quoted this line: "the mutated victim of a horrible chain of unfortunate circumstances combined into one massive radiation accident" (CU p. 100). Apparently they didn't realize the context of the term "radiation accident" in the Champions PnP game.

 

I went and looked. You're right. I was thinking about HIDEOUS.

That's funny; in CoH the "respec" trial where you can earn the ability to redesign a character so as to make different decisions about which powers you selected and how you chose to "slot" them for augmentation is a LITERAL "radiation accident" -- via the Terra Volta power reactor.

 

The lesson here is to beware of in-speak and oblique references when writing I guess. To easy for it to be misinterpreted.
