Space Cadet
I'm attempting to develop an offensive/defensive power for a Speedster-type character, and the special effect, basically, is as follows: If the speedster is grabbed by a stronger character or is other- wise in direct physical contact with an opponent, he or she can begin vibrating at such a high rate of speed that the oppon- ent's bones in his arms and hands (or wherever he's being touched at the time) shatter, in the same way that a wineglass will break if the right note is played on a violin or sung by someone. Any ideas on how this would look in HERO? Space Cadet
OddHat
Damage shield, probably RKA with penetrating or even NND Does Body. If you wan to actually cripple someone and your GM doesn't use disabling rules, you'll need to use a DS: Transformation attack. It'll be fairly slow working. Farkling
A penetrating RKA or NND doing BODY damage will generate damage to anything, but only a small amount. A big RKA with damage shield will pulp a normal and annoy a brick. Concievably, if it requies an attack action...you COULD buy an Energy Blast or RKA with no range and one Hex Area to represent the "vibration attack", and paralleling the Flash, lockout your other powers when you use it (takes a lot of focus)...then your harmonic effects can be used easily as an attack action, or to simulate "vibrational punch"

You're grabbed, so DCV's reduced anyway - whether it's still a limitation is open to debate. I'm inclined to go with the damage aura effect. [What's wrong with the more traditional vibrate to desolid to escape without pulping your opponent?]
Farkling
Hey...I prefer the Desolid approach myself...my speedsters would never survive actually being in the HANDS of an angry brick. Desolidification (affected by Area Effects, Explosions, Mental Powers), (only to escape from grabs and entangles), Special Effect - Harmonic Phasing But I can see a need (special effects wise) for something of this nature :: 4d6 BODY Drain, Damage Shield, Concentrate at 0 DCV throughout, x2 END...adjust return rate to suit concept. (Is it a limitation to buy it out to 5 pts/month and then define it as REC/month?) That would shake apart anything eventually...unless it has Power Defense. It would make mincemeat out of conventional entangles...they have no Power Defense.
Space Cadet
Thanks for the input, guys. I just got through looking over what's been posted thus far, and it's pretty interesting stuff so far. Space Cadet
prestidigitator
Vibrations spread real easily. How about Sticky and Personal Immutity, too?
