My mom's reply starts with a phrase I'm starting to hate: "Don't get mad, but..." She then starts talking about how formal writing doesn't contractions and you don't start sentences with "It." I told her this wasn't formal writing. My dad also said he had little to no idea what I was talking about. No offense, Mike, but if Jesus Christ walked into your mom's living room, she'd yell at Him for not wiping His feet on the mat before coming in.
