Doctor Agenda
This is partly for game ideas and partly curiosity about what would need to happen for us to get one in real life: a cable channel devoted to superhero programming, like a spin-off from the Syfy channel. I think there's enough movies and old TV shows to get it started. How would you do it? Who would you need? What would you have to know? How much would it cost? Would Hero license Capes of Wrath as a soap opera?

Doctor Agenda
Re: Superhero Channel Yeah, there's a ton of material, including Brit shows that most Americans have never heard of. Arguably; Angel, Buffy, Hercules, Jake 2.0, John Doe, and Xena fall within superhero parameters. There's a lot of room for nostalgia. Original programming, like a well-written weekly superhero team series or a superhero news spot would also be cool.

SKJAM!
Re: Superhero Channel In the current entertainment climate, there might be a weekly show on "reals", the real-life people who dress in costumes and have codenames and do heroing in their own small ways. Expect this to go horribly wrong by mid-season, either due to one of the reals getting an inflated head from the coverage, or one of the production staff trying to "spice it up a little." wcw43921
Re: Superhero Channel For the nostalgia win--I see your Incredible Hulk and Wonder Woman and raise you-- The Adventures Of Superman with George Reeves, Phyllis Coates, Noel Neill, Jack Larson and all the rest. Batman with Adam West and Burt Ward and all the Rogues Gallery. The Lone Ranger with Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels. Any of the Filmation DC animated heroes, especially The Superman/Aquaman Hour Of Adventure. Any of the animated Marvel adventures from the Sixties--Hanna-Barbera's Fantastic Four and the Krantz Studios Spider-Man series and the short features. Any of Hanna-Barbera's Sixties heroes--Space Ghost, Frankenstein Jr., The Impossibles, Mighty Mightor--and the list goes on. Any of the Sixties anime shows--Astro Boy, Eighth Man, Gigantor, Prince Planet--and the list goes on. Hope that helps.
torchwolf
Re: Superhero Channel Just don't forget "The Greatest American Hero" show. In the current entertainment climate' date=' there might be a weekly show on "reals", the real-life people who dress in costumes and have codenames and do heroing in their own small ways. Expect this to go horribly wrong by mid-season, either due to one of the reals getting an inflated head from the coverage, or one of the production staff trying to "spice it up a little."[/quote'] In the 4th edition Champions Universe there was a reference to the "Spider-Guy" TV show. In my old campaign I took this one step further and had the guy actually be a low-powered super, with some schizophrenic issues resulting in him actually believing himself to be the TV character, so he occasionally showed up 'to help the PCs out' with varying degrees of success. Doctor Agenda
Re: Superhero Channel And The Flash, Mantis, Nightman, and maybe that guy with the jaguar senses (The Guardian?). Very late at night, Man from Atlantis.
BobGreenwade
Re: Superhero Channel Most of the short-lived nostalgia shows like The Flash, Man from Atlantis, the recent two-season Invisible Man, and (what, nobody's mentioned this one yet?) Green Hornet would probably be in periodic weekend rotation. More recent programs like Heroes and The 4400 could also hit this channel in its earlier days. Of course there are plenty of film possibilities: the recent and continuing line of Marvel and DC superhero movies, Watchmen, Hancock, and even things like Meteor Man and Mystery Men. In time the channel could also fund an occasional "Superhero Original Movie" the way Syfy does -- such films could be done for surprisingly (or perhaps not so surprisingly) small budgets. Then there's always the possibility of reviving Who Wants to Be a Superhero? And I do like the idea of a one-hour weekly series on "reals."
