Standing in the shadows was Ripley Greenlaw Linda's high-school paramour who had been driven from society by his father's public disgrace involving fraud embezzlement and a ponzi scheme that had targeted the cities luminaries.

 

Ripleys father had died in prison before the trial and he had disappeared into public school.

 

All grown up but still recognizable in a exquisite tuxedo Linda had no idea what he was doing here.

 

If Linda had been following international news she would have been aware of the stories of the gentleman theif sought by interpol for dozens of high profile crimes across Europe. The so-called midnight mask had stolen art jewels and bonds from half of Europes glitterati. Appearing on the few occasions he had been glimpsed as a tall athleticly built man in an impeccable tuxedo using a range of high tech gadgets.

 

 

If Linda had tracked down Ripley after he left their private school she would have discovered that his father was framed by J.M.R. Zyron and Ripley was here to take him for everything he could steal plus evidence of his many crimes. Revenge would be a served as a birthday cake.

 

Linda was also wondering what on earth was more interesting to Ripley than a jet booted blonde and why was he staring at the rooftop pool...

The Fish aka Norman Whiteside managed to infiltrate the party via the pool (Don't ask). He wanted to make a splash in the newspapers and figured this would be the way to do it. He had not counted on the others turning up. But why not team up ?

Which is when another figure suddenly appeared and announced themselves as......

THE SCINTILLATING SNATCHER

 

sparkle loves sequin covered couture dresses Shiney gold jewelry but most of all DIAMONDS! she just does not like paying for them fortunately she has a mutant power that generates flashing strobes of light blinding distracting and disorienting everyone around her letting her grab what ever she wants and make a quick exit. 

 

while Sparkle dazzles the crowd with her radiant presence another unwanted guest is about to literally crash the party at high speed.

The vault was sealed in 1956 by order of President Eisenhower.

 

All records of it were redacted or destroyed, except at the highest levels. Even knowledge of it for the Executive branch was deemed on a need to know basis; the contents deemed too dangerous to release except in the most utter of extreme emergencies.

 

That day has come.

 

Facing certain annihilation at the hands of the invaders, with the heroes defeated, dead or missing, and the villains co-opted or likewise destroyed, Special Operative Jane Hammond receives the order, verified personally by the President, the UN Secretary General and the VIPER Supreme Serpent to unlock Secure Containment Facility 666: Pandora's Vault. 

 

Inside, five half-century old cryogenic containers start to warm up as lights flicker and hum to life. There is an acrid, metallic stench.

 

First to awaken is a slim figure of middling height and piercing eyes. He stretches catlike as he climbs from the capsule, decades of forced hibernation seemingly a mere inconvenience. He walks up to Hammond and gives her a thin smile that chills her to her bone.

 

"So."

 

Hammond looks away and nods.

 

"Well then. I suppose it's been awhile. Better catch up, eh?"

 

With lightning speed the man grabs Hammond's head - her eyes jerk wide open and she starts to scream, but slumps to the ground, lifeless, before it can escape her lips. The security detail attempt to fire their weapons, but nothing happens.

 

"Oh, don't bother boys. I've already mind locked you. Hmm. Interesting."

"Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Alan Crule, sometimes known as The Mind. Most powerful telepath in history. Emperor of Earth between 1954 and 1956, though I imagine no one remembers all that thanks to the fellows that put my companions and myself in this little holiday retreat. Obey my every whim and we'll get along just famously."

 

The Mind gave a little chuckle.

 

"Oh, that's right - you don't have any say in the matter. Silly me. Ah, here comes someone else out from the arms of Somnus..."

[Nothere]

With a hiss the chamber opened. A male figure rose from the released gasses, and promptly fell on his face.

 

"Oh great. Where am I now?"

 

The man looked around, but not at anything in the vault.

 

"Well now that's interesting. Earth's been invaded. Whole cities are devastated. And I'm officially annoyed."

 

He looked over at the Mind.

 

"If this was your doing, you realize I'm going to kill you. Otherwise I'm gonna kill them."

 

The Mind grinned a cold smile and remembered his first meeting with the man he called the Unstoppable. He fell out of a clear blue sky and said the exact same words he said when he got out of the chamber. The man proved inhumanly strong, able to shrug off most damage, and knew things he couldn't possibly know. Even the Mind only proved able to temporaily hold him. His only weakness seemed to be when enough damage was done, he was sucked into a pocket dimension. After being gone for a bit he would be randomly spat out  into this dimension. The man's real name was Derek Sarlin, and he had only one moral compass. Don't get in his way and life. Annoy him and die.

 

"By the way we have company." The Unstoppable pointed at a chamber. Moments later it activated to release...

Gork,Son of Grond waddled out of the chamber. The four armed, four legged man was created during the short time they sent the man-monster Grond away from Earth. Gork thought for a moment, being a bit smarter than his father. While not as strong as his father, he can still rampage like no tommorow. And he had only love for himself.

 

Gork looked down upon the Unstoppable and the Mind. He recognized the Mind as being the voice in his head during his long forced sleep. Gork assumed that Unstoppable was a friend of Mind. "Who does Gork need to smash?"

 

Just then the vault activates again...

The next figure to emerge from a cryogenic container was glowing.  He didn't walk; he levitated, floating about a foot over the floor.  Even so, the tile beneath his feet began to darken and blister.

 

"Hello, Michael," said The Mind with a nod at the newcomer.  "So good to see you again.  But if you could, please turn down the Roentgens."

 

"Oh.  Right.  Sorry."  The glow dimmed until it was barely noticeable.  He turned to The Mind.  "But I prefer my chosen name."

 

The Mind rolled his eyes.  "Of course.  But are you sure we can't come up with a new nom de guerre for you?  I'm sure we can come up with something preferable to... Ato-Mike."

 

As the two discussed the radioactive man's super-name, there was a hiss and the final figure emerged...

Sporting military fatigues the figure eyes the other four and then snarls 'So which one of you do I kill first ?'

The Mind says 'They will be a better test for you' indicating the invaders  Grinning the figure bounds off to fight the invaders.

'Who is that ?' asked Ato-Mike

'He was named Rocket Fist, America's answer to China's premier martial artist. He is capable of a devastating punch and an uncanny ability to find a weakness in any defence. Sadly for the good old USA, he turned out to be a complete misanthrope. So they put him here. I'll subtly point him at other targets as he'll resist outright commands. Now what should we all do first ?'

 

New Team: Three Wise Men 

These criminals are very careful plotters not prone to overconfidence nor stupidity. They can assist others by giving them the way to pull off a caper or escape justice through the courtroom and/or jail or they do jobs as consummate professionals. Who are these three cerebral villains ?

Myron Cates is the Case. He looks a place over, plans when to go in, when to get out, traffic patterns, access to safes, or vaults, how to get around security. He never goes in, and takes his ten percent from the loot after the job is done.

Pokerface

 

Pokerface is an obscure villain who might be a martial artist or have energy projection powers. He wears a mask of one of the four suits in a deck of playing cards. He can be invaluable on a job as he can quickly work out whether to continue a job or abort, how to adapt tactics should something unexpected happen and what can happen if heroes/vigilantes turn up. Pokerface is also known to use the speak no evil, hear no evil and see no evil as a mantra within the group and with its clients.

People don't plan to fail they fail to plan. And if your not that good at it for a high price you can hire the  Planner to figure out the best method to commit your crime. The Planner is different from other criminal masterminds in that he has low level psychic abilities. He can actually see the results of the plan before it happens. Of course this vision isn't perfect. To forse any trouble with his embezzlement scheme you actually have to embezzle something. And he can't forsee things to radical. But he sees enough to adjust his plans so that he's never been caught, and most clients are very wealthy.

 

After a months long rampage Oddball was finally arrested in placed in a mental institution. Unfortunatly for law and Order the accident that gave him a rubberized body, and drove him insane didn't prevent him from being a genius. He had already arranged his escape, but he stayed in the instiution. He found six mentally disturbed patients and when he escaped he took them with him. Those who had no powers he gave powers. And now the lunatics are at times trying to run the underworld. Of course all the members of the Mad Mob are insane, so not everything they do makes sence.

Lionel Schwartz, Dinosaur Man ! 

 

Lionel will enter battle proclaiming his name and supervillain ID and then will 'transform into a dinosaur' and attack. Except he does not change at all. He is still human and has a cape that flaps in the breeze. However he is bulletproof and can take an ungodly amount of punishment. This makes him believe that has changed shape and that is why he can take the beating he does. He also has super strength and flight but he only uses the latter if he thinks he has changed into a Pteradon or Pterradactyl.

Shock Treatment , as he is referred to, is a man bairly awair if his surroundings. Oddball found him muttering to himself in a rubber insolated room. Oddball nedden't worry about giving this man powers, as the place tried an advance shock treatment device which all it did was activate his latant mutation of electrical generation. Now Oddball simply prods him to a certain direction and let Shock Treatment generate a large emount of energy.

Louis Lewis is a short, somewhat rotund man who thinks he is the reincarnation of Napoleon Bonaparte.  Oddball gave Louis the power to literally explode on command (with his pieces coming back together and reforming him unharmed just seconds later).  Since he dresses as the former French emperor, the media have taken to calling him Napoleon Blownapart (an attempt to call him Napoleon Dynamite was stopped by legal action from Paramount Pictures).

Varny Vayne is the tragic Bat Might. Bitten by a radioactive bat, Varny has all the powers of a bat and a thirst for blood. The problem is Varny is also the size of a bat too.

Mindwarp

 

This villain has a rather disturbing power. When he has a bit of a brainstorm he can 'warp' his surroundings which can knockout people and distort or destroy the environment. If he suffers a particular severe brainstorm he can kill  people. He depends on Oddball as he does not like dealing with life itself. He wears a suit and tie and looks normal.

I think this group needs a female's touch.

 

Sarah Goodwin was a typical suburban housewife and soccer mom, until she and her family were caught in the midst of a battle between a superhero team and COIL.  King Cobra fired a hypodart containing a variant of the COIL gene at one of his foes, but the dart got deflected and ended up injecting Sarah.  She might have been able to handle being transformed into a woman-snake hybrid, but seeing her husband and daughter get killed in the crossfire sent her over the edge.  Since her mind has also regressed, she sees practically anyone in a costume (hero or villain) as an enemy. 

 

Eschewing the standard super-names, she simply refers to herself as Sssssarah.

 

I believe that's six, so we'll go with a new team:

 

The Conspiracy Theorists each have their own twisted viewpoints of what is wrong with the world.  These may range from anti-vaxxers and Flat Earthers all the way up to New World Order black helicopters, alien abductions, and beyond.  They may not always get along well (often arguing about the sources of plant circles, cattle mutilations, and the like in the middle of a job), but they're certainly committed -- or perhaps they should be.  Who are these five rather strident individuals and what are their... unique thoughts on the world around us? 

 

(The more off-the-wall the theories, the better, IMO.)

The Purist

 

Mohammed Williams is an African American Muslim who believes that aliens are behind various things that beset the human race. Plant circles ? Aliens except where they are geometric shapes those are pranks. Cattle mutilations ? Aliens except where it is stupid kids. White people ? Alien scientists. The latter he got from Louis Farrakhan and extrapolated. The Purist is out to remove aliens from Earth and then expose their pernicious influence over people. He is combat trained and has a number of gadgets in order to help him in his quest. These include a force field generator and a flight outfit. He has been known to throw water on anyone who he thinks is an alien. Well it worked in that documentary drama Signs didn't it ?

His belief that white people are inferior is one of the bones of contention between him and his companions.

Modesty Lane- Modesty is a firm believer that the true threat to the world is the undermining of sexual ethics and morals . this is hardly that off the wall or lonely, only, she believes there is one group behind this. One disgusting group of spiritaul corrupters and flesh peddlers. She refers to them as... "the Illumi-Naughty". Sexy coke commercial? they did it. casual hook ups on cw shows? they did it. Bronies!! They did it! The Illuminaughty take what is pure and twist it to sordid! And Modesty Lane sees herself as knowing the road to restoring our values.

 

No matter how many swimsuit models, pornographers, and comic book artists who keep drawing women with oversized endowments she has to kill!

 

She wears what appears to be steam punk puritan combination gear, including a gun that kills you with a mix of plasma and bleach.

Plane Jane- Plane Jane is a flat earther and a dimensional bender. Around her, the world seems to reshape shift and perception of curvatures becomes limited, and for some, impossible. She can immobilize (Entangle) people by encasing them in two dimensional slides, or even cut them apart (RKA) by interjecting same through them. Some Mathematicians have been capable of adjusting to the reality warp around her but most find everything off (Change Environment which affects CV for the worse unless an Int; Math roll is made)

The Reptile Tamer

 

Some people read too much into what other conspiracy theorists write down. This is what occurred to the man now known as The Reptile Tamer. He believes that all governments, all religions and heads of state are actually Lizards or controlled by Lizards. This also means that he thinks his team mates are controlled by Lizards. What he will do is control them and through them the human race. He has a helmet that prevents the insidious mind effects of the Lizards and armour that protects him from their claws, teeth and can absorb their powerful tail swipes. Thought of as a drooling lunatic even by his team mates The Reptile Tamer would be in a sanatorium if not for his powers. And maybe his team mates.

Major Tim believe that aliens fake the space program to keep humans earthbound. Man never went into space. Aliens are keeping man from leaving the planet, and government's are keeping us from realizing it. He joined the group to blow the cover off this conspiracy.

Numbers: 7

Premis: Seven young adult supervillains who joined VIPER'S Dragon Branch as part of VIPER Force 3. Some use to be normal hierlinges who worked well with others and given a chance into the Dragon Branch. Others were created by VIPER itself and are undergoing training 'on the job' as part of VF3. So, who's your dragon?
