Is that something you'd like to change?

Hailing from some future era, Hanover the First has the power to transform into a berserker giant and go on a murderous rampage. Those who survive the rampage and listened to what he was ranting about during that time will learn all they need to know about the Dark Legacy of the Orb and the group's current plans and purposes. He also has a Psychological Limitation: Can't resist a bribe, and may even cease his berserk rage and return to normal size if offered money.

Is that something you'd like to change?

Yes.

The Crafter

This member of the group comes from Finland and has created facsimiles that the rest can use in place of the Orb. These are not keyed to make them obey him or cause drastic side effects. It does allow the group to keep the Orb moving between themselves so that their opponents do not know who has it at any one time. It also allows the group to co-operate well as they know at least one of their number is not out to backstab them. What this member has let slip is that he opposed Peter the Great and was defeated by him. Consequently he has a dislike of Russia. Which makes his presence here and now of concern to Putin who has found out that this old enemy has returned.

NT: The New York Really Vicious Bastards. Part 2 Defence

Minimum 5 members, maximum 11

Rule 1. All must be men.

Rule 2. The cornerback is the LAST picked position in this group

Rule 3. The following roles MUST be filled Nose Tackle, Defensive End, Defensive/End/Nose Tackle, and Middle Linebacker.

Rule 4. The extra roles are Dimeback, Nickelback, Free Safety, Strong Safety, Halfback and Outside Linebacker

Rule 5. The members are loyal to each other despite the fact that they might like each other, their boss or the quarterback.

Rule 6. The group follow American football rules so no guns or knives but they can and will use brute force to take down an opponent like a policeman.

Rule 7. If you pick 1 role then you cannot pick the next.

It almost made me swear off the thread for good.

Now for the villain:

N.Y.B.O.R.G. is a humaniform robot of advanced but unreliable technology. When malfunctioning his behavior is erratic and random but usually antisocial; when "functioning properly" (from the point of view of Dark Legacy) he is a smooth and persuasive peddler of dangerously addictive designer drugs.

Only two of us were doing this topic. That was the problem. It's like the recess heroes in the Create Hero thread. No-one is doing that because it seems no-one likes the theme. It happens. Steraica had one theme fall completely flat as no-one liked it. Happened to me as well.

The football team thread could have ended earlier IF people had kept to the minimum. They didn't. Also it had certain restrictions. This helps keep it significantly different to all the other teams. And having different people post consecutive ones stops an idea being monopolised. I am guilty of this latter having done 4 of 5 for one on vacuum powers for example. It also should make a different person pick the next topic.

There will be two more football ones, one on special teams again minimum 5 and one on management and referees which will have looser restrictions. But not just yet.

And Lucius ? You did number 7. What is the new team ?

I was going to ask, "why?" but

Instead I'll ask, "why wait?" If it's something you feel you must do, go ahead and get it out of your system.

The palindromedary and I can stay out of the thread for a while.

I am pretty simple if I have an idea for a member, I generally go with it. Some team themes (including some I really have liked) I just cant think of a good idea for, it happens.

Oh, and for the special teams, the other teams really did need 11 to make it fit, but special teams have always been more general than the more specific offense/defense. You can usually just fill up the spaces with backups (and occasionally starters, though you don't really want to put too many star players out there. So, we probably wont need more than a few players, and we can "assume" the rest of the 11 members of the team are filled by the other 22 as needed. (and technically there would be 6 special team formations with high overlap aka coverage/return units of punts and kickoffs, with 5 and 6 being the FG unit, and the FG block team. LIke I said extremely high overlap since you only get a 53 man roster (some of which inactive). Note: For those that don't know much about football just in case.

Anyway, I do have a team idea, if our desert loving friend doesn't. Though waiting would be better, as I have completely worked it out yet.

Ok,

Section Eight

8 members, ex-military.  Currently acting as mercenaries and/or instructors mostly for 3rd World dictators and their armies.

Don't necessarily have to have been deemed medically unfit as the name would suggest, or really even have anything other than an honorable discharge. Doesn't have to be of the American military, but majority should be Americans (5 or more).

Corporal Granite

it's the way he views people. As targets. That's the problem with Peter Milesson. If you are not on his side then he doesn't care about you. Women, children, the elderly, the injured and the innocent are viewed as viable targets to him. Fortunately he was given an honourable discharge from the military before he actually killed or harmed someone in those categories. The military was concerned enough about his behaviour and psychological evaluations that it used the excuse of his injuries under fire to get him out of the service. Unfortunately there were those that wanted someone whose morals were shall we say elastic ? They happily embraced him and enhanced him. And now the numbers of dead and wounded attributed to him climb. Nothing matters to him except the mission, not even money. Just as long as he gets to hurt someone.

DC Comics has a vested interest in seeing him brought to justice and the comedian who gave him the name that parodies one of its beloved characters.

Miles is stronger, more agile, faster and has more endurance than a normal person. But most paranormals can easily beat him IF he is on his own. The equipment he carries does give him an edge. He can use most military equipment and is the backup for several of the others. He tends to use an advanced assault rife/machine gun as a default.

TBS

Thomas Smith claims to have been a member of the British Special Boat Service.

he is a phenomenal fighter but he doesn't move like a Special forces operator he shoots like he is in an bad action movie fights like he's Jackie Chan.

Thomas Smith is also a compulsive liar constantly telling aggrandizing tales of his martial prowess he never seems to get caught in a lie though everything he claims No matter how ridiculous he can demonstrate.

Thomas Smith is a pathological liar and reality manipulator he alters his personal reality to fit his delusions he never runs out of ammo bullets seem to swerve around him or just to cosmetic damage he can throw a car around like it's on rails.

Thomas belives his call sign stands for Total Badass Supreme but the rest of the team know it means Total B.S.

No one's actually worked out how he got his powers he was a member of the British territorial army ( like the national guard) but it all gets blurry after that records are altered but make no sense are written by someone with no idea what they should look like.

Mason Stabler was a highly decorated Army Ranger in his past.  But, too many high stress tours gave him a love of blood and carnage, though he successfully kept it hidden.  When he got the try at testing an experimental "cloaking" device, he pounced on the opportunity and deserted with it.  With his training and the new equipment, he has became a highly competent assassin.  He now goes by Ghost

While he is an expert at many weapons. He now prefers to get close killing with knives or even his bare hands, when possible.  And with his stealth and invisibility, he will never be detected.

X-Marine

Oscar Davis got his discharge from the Corps for not knowing when to stop fighting. His abilities were acceptable for a marine but he had a sort of 'berserker rage' condition. When he entered combat he could not or, in the opinion of his superiors, would not stop. This included brawls with civilians and other soldiers/servicemen and also fighting with pugil sticks. Oscar was furious. How dare they kick him out for fighting ! Well if you can't fight for them, fight against them !

Oscar was quickly snapped up and somehow his rage was put under control. He usually uses a rifle rather than anything else. Whoever is in charge realised that having Corporal Granite and X-Marine with automatic weapons was a 'bad idea'. He prefers to fight against anyone in uniform but he reserves a specific hatred for the Marine Corps. This includes ex-marines which does mean the group cannot work with The Rogue Battalion for example which has two ex-marines.

He is as fast as Granite but not as strong or agile or endurable. He is more accurate though.

Lovebot's name is deliberately ironic.  Mary Ronsch was a typical Army Reserve supply sergeant serving in Iraq until the vehicle she was in  ran over an IED and she lost most of her limbs and half her face. She got a medical discharge, but wasn't too keen on spending the rest of her life with the relatively primitive prosthetics available to disabled veterans when she saw super-powered cybernetics every day on the news.

The legitimate programs have decades-long waiting lists, so Mary was tempted by an offer from the black market which seemed specifically aimed at her.  It was.  What she didn't know until too late was that this particular research program was run by a man she'd been particularly cruel to in high school and had never matured in his relationships with women.  His project was creating consort/bodyguard cyborgs for wealthy third world dictators, and prioritized aesthetics over practicality.  Thus Mary found herself rebuilt to look like a  horny teenager's idea of a sexy cyborg.

Unfortunately for the cyberneticist, the control chip could only force specific actions, not attitudes--the moment he left an opening, Mary disemboweled him and fled.   She joined the mercenaries to protect herself from the scientist's backers and law enforcement.  Lovebot primarily handles logistics and supplies, but is decent in combat, particularly hand-to-hand.  Lovebot still has the control chip in her brain (it can't be removed without causing severe brain damage) and thus is vulnerable to machine-based Mind Control  powers.

Grenade Deer

A real section 8 legend from the services as one of the most mentally unfit individuals to serve and then be discharged. It is one thing not to wear your helmet into a battle situation but to insist on wearing antlers on your head instead rather takes the biscuit. It then was compounded by his insistence, despite the fact he was five foot seven inches, had bright ginger hair and green eyes that he was the spitting image of John Wayne. This is Dave 'Duke' Parker who goes into action wearing antlers and a deer skin. He looks more like a shaman than a military man. He is a whizz with grenades which lead to his nom de plume Grenade Deer. He also uses a grenade launcher in order to soften up the enemy before closing in to throw grenades with his hands. The rest of the team call him 'Duke' because call him Deer is just plain daft.

Keyhole

Kenneth kyle Cole III Came from a long line of soldiers from rural Kentucky after they served they where hunters and Kenny wished more than anything to be the marksman his father brothers and cousins where but he was badly sighted and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn angry at him self for not being able to live up to the family legend he ran away from home and tried to sign up for all of the services but none would take him.

still desperate to serve he volunteered for an experimental treatment. It worked his eye sight was massively improved he joined the army got into ranger school and quickly became a legend as a scout sniper.

Unfortunately it didn't last just as he was about to reenlist his eyesight began to fail and he had to leave the rangers on a medical discharge .

it wasn't till months later that he discovered that the failed treatment had also granted him an superpower even as it took his enhanced vision. He had the ability to open a 2 inch portal to anywhere he can see for about 2 tenths of a second at a time.

For most people his power would be a useless waste of time.

In the hands of a world class sniper this is much more useful.

he is able to open a portal and transport a .50 round through walls forcefields even power armor and because it doesn't travel the distance it arrives with it's full muzzle velocity.

Combined with a high tech scope that compensates for his poor vision and let's him see targets behind cover (thermography and milimeter radar) he is a the team's ace in the hole.

Major Catastrophe

The records that actually state why John Brubeck left the services are either sealed or lost which is odd. It was a discharge but the grounds are unclear. But he is the one in charge of this happy bunch of campers. He was an officer that is clear as he has the leadership talent and can make the others do what he wants. He is also aware of the weaknesses of his crew and how to curb them or exploit them. He uses Ghost and Keyhole to knock the others out if he needs to providing them with specific ammunition or munitions. X-Marine and Granite are usually the recipients of this.

John maintains discipline and foes not allow them to make fun of their teammates. If others do then the group can open up on them.

John is a psychopath but one who is in control and one who can function amongst others without being noticed. he tends to use a rifle as machine guns run out of ammunition too quickly.

He has a particular distaste for others who have served in the services whether it in in the army, navy, marines or the Coast Guard. This means that working with the Rogues Battalion for example is not possible.

Who John is working for is not clear but technically he finds the jobs and sources equipment for the others.

Auntie 8

Anna Ocho-rios came into her powers later in life than most supervillains she was a successful soul food chef until her restaurant was destroyed during a super battle she was blasted with primordial chaos energies she was buried under the rubble for days she got hungrier and hungrier eventually mad with hunger but into the concrete and to her amaze ment she found she could eat it and that she could distend her mouth to huge size she chewed her way out of that dark hole. Now auntie 8 has become a super criminal to support her extraordinary appetite while she can literally eat anything from bank vaults to nuclear waste with no effect she would much rather eat fine cuisine and travels the world between heists to visit the best restaurants while she is not hugely strong but her consumption of huge mass has given her a hide like a rhino. And she can chew a hole through almost anything a hex wide.

Bertha Big is quite the opposite of Auntie Ocho. She is fat, but can not eat anything. She has no need to. She is a rouge member of some secret enclave of super powered beings who exist along side humans. She is superly resistant to dammage and slight:y psionic. She lets Auntie Ocho lead, using this chance to observed the humans hidden as a 'nprmal' supervillian.

Next Team: Cooper Manson's Dark Pantheon.

Members: 5.

Premise: Once the lifedrinker Cooper Manson awoke from toper, he started to feast upon various people. Five of them awoke from being killed by hos powers as lifedrinkers themselves. None of them have supervillian names. Instead, there proper names reference to rock stars, rock songs, rock albums of the 70-now. Then are not all loyal to Cooper, but their need to feast upon the life-force of others marks them as enemies of man.

Ziggy Starburst

Now Ziggy played in bars, drumming good with Phil and Billy

with some cider and Mars

Cooper got out of hand and went too far

Became a special man

when draining Ziggy's band.

Now where was Cooper Manson ?

when Ziggy fled into the Malls ?

Just a flash light to guide him

Until he fell into the fans and they ripped off his glands

Ziggy prayed some time, thinking it was just some hoodoo

But the kid was just flash

He started to crash

off second rate hash

Cooper went too far

left him wearing a bra

Ziggy dresses as a glam rocker which makes him attractive to both men and women. He hypnotises and entrances his victims and this makes him dangerous as he can make others do his bidding. He can take a lot of damage from other people but he cannot turn into a wolf or mist. He avoids fire as well you know it messes with his make up.

Young Michael Crossed-Alpines grew up on an Indian reservation in Colorado, rounding up cattle, but he always knew his destiny was elsewhere.  After graduating from high school he joined the Navy, but he got seasick too easily and mustered out at the first opportunity.  He leveraged his brief military service to become a police officer, but that didn't suit him well either, so he left the force and tried his hand at construction.  A year of that was all Young could stand, so he bought a motorcycle and some black leather gear and wandered the US for a while.  It was during this time that he had the misfortune to run into Cooper Manson and became a vampire.

Shortly afterward, he realized that when he takes a person's lifeforce, he could take on that person's skills and abilities, particularly that person's career skills.  He also discovered that, with concentration, he could alter his physical appearance and voice to match that person.  However, for some reason he almost always has a mustache (ranging from a subdued thin mustache to a full-out pornstache), the exception being when he takes the lifeforce of any Native American.

Since "Young" is an odd first name, his fellow Dark Pantheon members tend to refer to him by his initials (which irritates him quite a bit, to tell the truth, especially when they accompany it with the arm gestures).
