Cygnia Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! The Thief of Everything Need a cash donation to save the domestic shelter from being foreclosed? Or a desperately needed heart transplant to keep your child alive? Or grain supplies to the war-torn country? Pray HE isn't around. No matter what the item or how tragic (or perhaps BECAUSE how tragic) the situation, The Thief of Everything seems to slip in, unseen and pillage what's desperately needed the most. And the worst thing is, it's not even to sell what's stolen on the black market or held for ransom. He just lets what he takes go to rot (except money of course). Quote
death tribble Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! The Crippler This member of the group is the one who actually cripples people physically. From taking out the knees and elbows of aspiring football players to blinding artists and maiming them as well. Has also caused brain damage to young children so that they cannot function in adult society. Responds to no other name and is listed as John Doe. There are no fingerprint matches anywhere, no social security numbers nor any photographic matches. But when Tormentor or one of the others needs someone physically hurt the Crippler is the one to do it. The Crippler will also destroy tyhe possessions of someone targeted by the group but only if directed to by the others. He will also hurt the family/friends/loved ones of a target. He is average height, average weight and Caucasian. The one distinguishing feature is the smile on his face which can make people shudder. Quote
BobGreenwade Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! The figure known only as The Bogeyman is a horribly disfigured man, always wrapped up in heavy clothing -- even gloves -- no matter what the weather. All that can been of him are his eyes... eyes that are as dark as night, and yet seem to glow faintly. He seems able to pass into any room without effort, no matter what barriers or wards are put in place. How he moves isn't quite known; he doesn't really teleport, nor does he actually pass through space. He simply enters, finds his target, makes a quick grab, and exits. Quote
Utech Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! She calls herself the Displacer though that does not precisely describe what she does. What does she do? She meets you. Makes conversation. Touches you. Brushes a hand against your face, perhaps. Maybe she fixes your hair. And you feel the change. And . . . well, by then it's too late, isn't it? By then you're not the person you used to be. You look different -- sometimes drastically so. Your fingerprints are different. Your retinas. Your voice. Your smell. Your very DNA. The only thing left of you that's still you is your mind. And that's the way she likes it. Because you find yourself unable to return to your life. No one recognizes you. Not your spouse or your children or your boss or your dog. No one. And there she leaves you. A new man or woman. Trying to get by without an ID, a birth certificate, a bank account... A life. That's what she does. And she does it with a smile on her face. New group name: Smash Ltd. Theme: A loose organization of British Commonwealth villains. All are brick mercenaries who specialize in smash and grab, massive destruction, and bodyguard work. death tribble Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Good Day Bruce ! Good Day Bruce ! is an Australian with a penchent for mayhem. To the despair of his countrymen he appears as a stereotypical version of how an Australian male appears to everyone else in the world. He has corks on his hat, wears shorts, is never without some tinnies (beer), is patronising to women (G'Day Sheila ! Fancy a quickie ?) and has a big grin on his face. He enjoys winding up the Poms and generally having a good time. Will not take any job that puts him against the Abos, who he will defend if they are in the area where Smash are working and get caught up in what they are doing. He is more than happy to do jobs that put him up against the Japanese ('the Nip b******s bombed Darwin') and the Chinese ('The slant eyed b******s are trying to ruin 'Stralia'). However he won't enter killing combat for killing sake. He prefers a light humiliation of his foes rather than the full monty. His real name was Paul Anderson and he was an accountant but no one knows what turned him into the powerhouse Good Day Bruce ! Please not he insists on the exclamation mark when people are talking about him in the press, police reports, TV etc. Quote
Legatus Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Papa Tembo: is a mutant from Kenya. He is 12 feet tall and weighs 2 tons. Before joining Smash Ltd. he lived in the savannah as an outcast, because his tribe wanted nothing to do with him. Rumours told he was an angry beast and that he ate little children. Nothing of that was true. Papa Tembo has a gentle soul, but he is easily influenced by others. He has little self-esteem and just does whatever he is told. For now he is a member of Smash Ltd.; but be careful, when he finds his pride and his true identity, he will turn into a hero. Needless to say Papa Tembo has a strong Code vs. Killing, although he enjoys a good fight and doesn't care about property damage. Quote
BobGreenwade Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Though Welsh by nationality, The Flying Anvil has long been a fan of old cartoons, and gets his name and tactics from them. His power is to change his body into a sort of living steel -- super-dense, super-strong, super-tough, and super-heavy. It's this last property that inspires his opening tactic: he goes to the top of a tall building, finds a likely target (such as an armored car), jumps off, and changes form on the way down, hitting with massive impact. Cygnia Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Stonehenge claims he's come to return Europe (starting with the UK) back to the "ol' ways" of worship, smashing up various places of worship he doesn't consider pagan. In Britain alone, he's destroyed several churches and synagogues, three mosques, one Buddhist temple, and two Sikh community centers. As to what sect he represents, authorities aren't certain. Modern-day druids, Wiccans and pagans disavow him as not being one of theirs. Likewise, if confronted with any of them, Stonehenge sneers that these druids et al are "[bLEEP]in' fakes!". However, faith magic (regardless of which faith, so long as it's genuinely believed) does seem to weaken him. Quote
Enforcer84 Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Can I point out that the Dream Stealers are, quite possibly, the most horrific villains I've ever encountered? I'd totally buy off a code vs killing for them. Well done everyone. Quote
Legatus Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Parashurama Clifford Browning, an Englishman born and raised in India, was always interested in mystic arts. His parents sent him to England though, where he went to a military academy. He became a young successful officer and was the pride of his whole family. During one of his adventure journeys on avacation in Papua-New Guinea, he joined the ruitual of a secluded tribe. The shaman/witch-doctor gave him a strange brew. Cliff swallowed it all in one big gulp. After that he was a changed man. He recovered faster from wounds and injuries and everytime he excerted his strength, he got stronger, faster and more resilient in the following minutes. He even reached super-human power levels if he only was exhausting enough energy. A few months later Clifford left the British military and became a mercenary. He sought and found other superhumans to add to his small elite group called Smash Ltd. The name he chose for his super identity is from Hindu mythology and one of the avatars of Vishnu. Parashurama has indefinite power levels, but to reach a new level, he first has to spend all END of the present level. At the next level he'll gain SPD, STR, DEX and lots of END etc. Cliff is 185cm tall and of average build but athletic to the bone. His appearance does not change with reaching a new power level (unlike the DBZ cartoons). Quote

Matt Holck Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Prism is a hulking crystal man who is nearly invisible in air (activation/saving throw) and completely invisible in water. He is an escaped experiment from the Lawrence Livermore Laboratories that gained its own sentience. He is hunted by the government and anyone else interested in who this walking thinking rock works. Naturally, he socializes with the underworld because they are less likely return him to the labs. which is why he is now with Smash Ltd. Quote
BoloOfEarth Posted July 3, 2010 Author Report Posted July 3, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! In some ways similar and in other ways the antithesis of Prism, Blood Diamond is a former miner from South Africa who discovered an unusual glowing diamond. When he touched it, his body was transformed to living, moving diamond. Like Prism, he is a living crystalline man. However, unlike Prism he is far from invisible. In fact, in anything beyond the dimmest of light, Blood Diamond catches and redirects light to dazzling effect. He has practiced to blind, create light shows, and even project damaging blasts or beams of light. PS: I like the invisible picture of Prism, Matt. Very clever. I'd rep you if I could. I believe that's the last of Smash Ltd. How about a team of villains based on mystical artifacts? (Why, yes, I am anxiously awaiting the new season of Warehouse 13, why do you ask? ) The Collectors are a group of six thieves who either use artifacts they have found, or gained their powers from finding a powerful artifact. They seek to expand their strength and abilities by collecting other legendary or otherwise powerful objects. Please specifically name the artifact(s) they use or which gave them their powers. Quote

Thus far, it comes to 39 teams (not counting the Collectors) and approximately 250 characters total. Not bad at all, everybody. Kudos to all involved for a very fun and potentially very useful thread. Quote

Maelstrom summons the fury of the oceans: the rage of the tsunamis, the force of the tidal waves, the cold savagery of the depths of the seas. Matt Holck Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Goblin back in 1200 AD on the high plains of Spain, the water table had risen and an ancient dry well once again held water. A young lad discovered the well and drank it's water. He gained powers of magic that first manifested in minor telekinesis. The church was afraid of what happen so Black Paladin poisoned the well. But the boy drank the poisoned water in spite of that. His hair fell out. His skin became blotched and he would grow no more. Goblin would never grow old. Goblin is 800 years old through the times he's learned every magic of the world but his power like his growth is stunted (20 point cosmic pool) In modern times, goblin usually travels by invisibility and tunneling. The years have made goblin an artifact collector but as luck or entropy and time would have it Goblin doesn't have any artifacts atleast none he's using. Quote
death tribble Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Hexenmeister The Germans had a fascination with the occult and one of them came across The Spear of Destiny which is the spear that pierced the side of Christ on the cross. He became Hexenmeister and used his powers to aid the Reich, even on one occassion changing history so that Germany won the 2nd World War. Nowadays hated and hunted by at least two Nazi groups Hexenmeister has joined others with artifacts of power. He figures at least until a regime change and he can go back to putting the Reich back together. (Hexenmeister was in the campaign I was in during the 80s and 90s). Quote
BobGreenwade Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! I have two for the Collectors: Power Paladin is seeking to collect a full suit of armor using power-granting parts from all around the world, in addition to as many weapons as he can comfortably carry. At last look he had a Chinese helmet, a Roman breastplate, a Japanese skirt, Italian greaves, and a Scottish shield (with parts not covered by artifacts held by modern equipment). His weapons include a Persian scimitar, an English crossbow, a French rapier, a set of nine Japanese shuriken, and an American revolver (this is the most surprising -- though it originally belonged to Annie Oakley!). The Librarian of the Elders is out to collect every mystical tome he can find. He knows many ancient, forbidden magics, and commands the service of dark beings beyond the understanding of man. His eventual goal is to clear the way for the return of the now-forgotten ancient gods who revel in horror, violence, and torture. Quote
csyphrett Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! A variation of a villain I have been using in my Tales. Bryce Caldwell is the Card. Every playing card has a meaning. He uses that to plow down enemies with batons, make people fall in love, even change the whole situation with one well played joker. It's all in the cards. CES Quote
BobGreenwade Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! csyphrett got the last one of the Collectors, so gets to pick the next group... though I have an idea for one if that's left open. Quote
BobGreenwade Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Okay, I'll go ahead with it then.... A man scientist (who may or may not be the same one as mentioned before) gathered together a group of unsuspecting ex-cons to perform genetic experiments on them. Each of the seven subjects was injected with an enzyme that would give that human being the abilities, and to a lesser degree the appearance, of a particular animal. Unfortunately, the animals in question are of types that few people find threatening. A good example was Squirrel Master, who was booted out after the group's first escapade (and is now seeking membership in the aforementioned revenge team). The six survivors have banded together into a gang of sorts under the name of Beast Blood (though some members of the press prefer to call them "The Pet Store"), trying hard -- and with limited success -- to avoid the image of the supervillain community's resident Comic Relief Squad. Cygnia Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Larry Leroux was once a second-story burglar. However, once he got done with the experiments, he became the nefarious Hagfish! He can contort and twist his body, which is now constantly coated with a slick coat of slime. It's very handy for escaping restraints -- and that's about it. He's a bit of a coward when it comes to combat, though the rest of the group is insisting he learn some form of unarmed fighting just in case. Or at least figure out a way to project the slime as a form of attack. Unbeknownst to Larry, his body is still changing. Eventually, he will develop a set of powerful jaws like a real hagfish. Unfortunately for him, he will also develop an appetite for living flesh as well... Quote
Lucius Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Hazel Adams had always been a planner and a leader, and the victims would never have escaped that mad laboratory of horrors without her. For one thing, the things she learned with her long rabbit ears were invaluable (the mad scientist had not realized her hearing would be quite THAT good) and since then her nose has warned them of other dangers. Besides enhanced senses she has powerful legs that enable prodigious leaps and swift running as well as damaging kicks, and suprisingly strong claws (now sheathed in steel and sharpened) with which she has been known to dig tunnels. Her most important asset however remains a devious mind that keeps the group always one step ahead. Since the escape, she has taken the name Princess Manyfoe. Lucius Alexander The palindromedary is sure everyone will see the inspiration right away. Quote
SKJAM! Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Tristan Weaver would really like to be known as Manotaur, or Raging Bull, or something cool like that. Unfortunately, the mad scientist who changed him had a sense of humor, and now Tristan has a massive udder with four prominent teats right there on his chest. An udder that fills with delicious, nutritious, wholesome milk, which he can then spray at people. Or simply be milked, as he needs to be at least twice a day to relieve the pressure. He also got horns, though they're short and dull, and hooves for feet. At least he has the strength of a bovine, despite being normal human sized. But for his other attributes, and his short temper, Tristan Weaver is now known as Mad Cow. Quote
Legatus Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Suleika Ashkavutrinam was treated by the mad doctor and received her superpowers. She got strong and fast, but she also developed a hunchback and sort of a snout. Some even call it a trunk. Her new ugliness is her major concern and all she wants is to reverse the process and untie the animal's DNA from her own. She has little self-esteem and is very shy, though when someone taunts her, she might go berserk. She became known as the Tapir. Quote
