Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

What does it take to wield a six-foot-long greatsword? A seven-foot-tall reptile! Zelosh M'Tharal earned the nickname "Shelikam," which translates to Cleaver, from his skill with just such a weapon. His favorite maneuver is a downward slice that often divides his opponent vertically into two more-or-less equal halves. After years in the gladiators' arena in his home, he recruited a wizard's help to cross timelines into this one dominated by mammals so he can try his hand at battling its champions.

Etienne Fasaud is probably just a mutant, but he spins a great yarn about being cursed by a spider goddess. Whatever the reason, he has six arms, and has trained in a special multiple-sword style, specializing in the curved swords that give him the codename Scimitar Spider. He often coats his scimitars with poisons that cause crippling pain, paralysis or blindness. (But not death, if he wanted you dead, he'd just use the swords themselves. Scimitar Spider is an excellent climber and contortionist, and uses a swing line to get to harder-to-reach places. He's aware that his use of poisons is disdained by the more honorable members of the Crossed Blades, but he will only ever "fight fair" against another multi-sword expert (minimum three blades at once. Perhaps Scimitar Spider's most impressive stunt is using his weaving swords to deflect bullets, but this does damage the swords. themselves.

Team: The Crossed Swords

Number: 7

Motive: They've come from different walks of life, even from different worlds and times. Some are honorable warriors, others are ruthless assassins without care for innocents. They all agree on one thing: the bullet will fall to the blade.

Ares of the Thousand Sword doesn't care who he's asked to kill, so long as they will give him a challenge. A superhuman able to access "hammer space", he can bring any sword needed for a fight to himself in an instant. Ares is not only a user of the sword, but a collector as well. He will go out of his way to liberate a sword that he feels is being missused regardless of the risk involved, something that has been used against him numerous times before. He also has a nasty habit of taunting his opponents/victims.

The Strong are strong and the Weak are dead, so let's all play by the rules!

Samurai

While there are others who wear the armour of the Japanese Samurai and wield the katana, there are none who wield it with such skill as the Samurai. He speaks but little and only in Japanese but seems to understand other languages. He only engages in honourable combat and will hunt those down who attempt to fight him in a dishonourable fashion. He appears to follow the code of Bushido but no one really knows for sure. He wears the mask all the time when he is seen at all.

Neither he nor his armour nor his sword seem remarkable or radiate any aura yet he has withstood energy blasts and concentrated gunfire to seemingly little effect. His sword has been seen to cleave through the walls, the metal of trucks and cars and even forcefields.

He has some martial art skill but prefers the sword that he uses.

He has fought against his fellow Crossed Swords but seems to have an affinity with Cleaver.

Honour seems much more important to him than money.

It has also been noted that he has a dislike for or ineptitude for modern technology like Computers and Mobile Phones. And woe betide any Japanese fighting him that uses modern technology for he will go out of his way to embarrass them and destroy their gadgets.

I just wanted to thank everyone who contributed a Hired Gun. I love the funny villains' date=' but I think there's some real genius out there for the serious villains. Thanks![/quote']

Agreed. The Hired Guns are very likely to get written up and put in an appearance in my Champions game.

Edit: And the way they're shaping up, the Crossed Swords may very likely also get used.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

The Spanish swordsman known as Campeador is a tactician and swordsman, wielding the stolen sword Tizona with incredible skill. He claims to be a descendant of the original El Cid Campeador, a Castilian nobleman and military leader from the 11th century. Officially this is considered quite doubtful, but Campeador insists it is true.

What is known is that, several years ago, the cherished Tizona (forged in the year 1002) was stolen from the Museo de Burgos and has since been wielded by Campeador in numerous battles against police, UNTIL, and various European superheroes. Many of Campeador's opponents reported feelings of intense fear and/or unworthiness once the sword was drawn from its scabbard, a trait previously noted in the 13th century poem Camtar de Meo Cid.

Post both groups if and when you've finished them. I'd especially love to see how OSOK and Cleaver come out. :)

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

The Black Kris has had many wielders throughout the centuries, possessing their psyches and infecting them with a sadistic bloodlust. Its current host is a young Malaysian woman, an international student who was to go to Harvard. Her parents think she is just unhappy and having trouble getting used to life in America. The Black Kris has been strengthening its control on her day by day, imbuing her with a speed and deadly accuracy few normal humans can attain. Likewise, it gives her protection from mental attacks and abilities as the Kris fanatically refuses to release its evil hold. If things don't change for her, the Kris will subsume her identity totally (it cares little for knowing her name now). As a last resort in battle, the Black Kris will make its wielder kill herself (especially if there's a chance of attracting a better host). One of the other members of the Crossed Swords may be the perfect fit in due time...

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

Fabricio Lucas Chavanelli from Bologna, Italy, was always a very aggressive man. Quick to anger and hot blooded to the extreme. This all seemed to end when he married Sabrina. He calmed down and led a good life for a few months. Then his super-aggressive tendencies came back. Sabrina stayed with him and tried everything she could to keep him from sapping totally. But one day they got into argument with eachother and Fabricio's latent mutant power was triggered. He can transform his body or parts of his body into solid metal objects. At this point he couldn't control the transformation. His arm transformed into a sword and he stabbed Sabrina. Fabricio spent the next 8 years in jail.

After that experience he never got back on track. He developed his superpowers to a point where he could fight with amazing speed and deadly accuracy. He hired himself out as a mercenary and enforcer. He robbed banks and casinos. Fabricio wants to make up for the one big mistake in his life, the killing of his wife. He has created a bank account in Switzerland for his parents-in-law, but they have never taken a single cent of the over two million Euros. Only recently Sabrina's father has contracted cancer and cannot pay for the hospital bills. Will he now accept the money of Fabricio?

Meanwhile Fabricio has joined a team of super-powered sword wielders, calling himself Il Condottiere.

He usually transforms his hands into daggers or swords and his torso into an armor. When hit he heals superfast.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

The sneak-thief and assassin known as Backstab is a quiet, unassuming young woman wielding a pair of blood-red magic stilettos that seem able to pierce any armor (even hardened tank armor) and cause surprisingly debilitating wounds in living targets. They do only piercing, not cutting, damage, and seem incredibly durable -- she's used them to climb sheer walls before, with no apparent damage to the weapons. She appears to kill her assigned targets quite dispassionately, but will refrain from causing lethal wounds in any but her intended targets.

It is not generally known, but most of the increased damage from her stilettos actually comes from her innate ability to detect points of weakness in everybody she sees. She does not know how she does this, but has been able to use stabbing and piercing weapons other than her magic stilettos to quite lethal effect.

Well, we've done guns and blades. Let's continue the logical progression.

New Team: Brute Force

Members: 6

Despite their name, this team of rough-and-tumble fighters are *not* a collection of bricks (though they may have a brick or two on the team). Rather, they are experts in hand-to-hand combat (either unarmed or with saps / brass knuckles / etc.) of various types or otherwise able to inflict a lot of damage with their hands/fists.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

"Call it 'choreographed'. Call it 'prearranged'. But don't EVER look at my injuries and have the [bLEEP]ing gall to call what I used to do 'fake'!"

Alec Delgado remembers his best friends Carlos "The Rocket" Ignacio and "Ripper" Martin LeCroix. They trained and bled and sweated together for years as the stable "The Blood Brothers". And when they finally hit the big time and signed up with Victor K. Blumfeld's Victory Wrestling Alliance, they thought they were on top of the world.

But that was before they knew about the ugly side of backstage politics. And the nepotism and the pressure and the drugs. The push to keep fighting despite injuries and health issues (because only the "pets" got paid time off and insurance) And just how low they had to debase themselves to get even one shot at the gold even despite having the cheers of the smarks on their side. Carlos and Martin wavered, then submitted to the temptation. Alec could only watch in horror (and in envy) as he saw what his friends did to themselves in order to get to the top.

And he saw how it destroyed them back to back in a matter of months. Carlos' heart gave out during a championship match and he died in front of a national audience. The drugs and pressure and injuries had taken their toll on Martin as well, who soon took his own life afterwards. Blumfeld didn't care, brushing off what little inquiries there were with the right sympathetic noises, then charged a fortune in exploiting his former stars' video libraries.

Alec was enraged. Blumfeld's only response was to give him a slick grin and offer him two choices: quit or keep quiet -- and maybe he too would get a title shot (later) down the line "to honor his friends".

Alec took a third choice -- and snapped Blumfeld's neck with his bare hands.

Now (still considered one of the best submission wrestlers in the business) The Anaconda is a wanted man. Despite the gruesome murder, there are still a few souls sympathetic as to what happened to Delgado -- and just how corrupt the business of pro wrestling is to its workers.

Phoenix Hand

The Chinese man who calls himself Phoenix Hand is a master of Kung Fu. He moves with grace but his blows are deadly. His hands and feet can kill with a well aimed precision strike. They can also break walls and even steel. He eschews martial arts competition and disdains challenges from other martial artists.

The Chinese government on the other hand want him extradited. He has killed Chinese soldiers and bureaucrats and this was even caught on film. Admittadly the soldiers were trying to shoot him but still. He has no problem with foreigners particularly the Japanese.

On the other hand he has taken down paranormals and targets mentalists with telepathy with extreme violence that disables them.

He will not however fight the unarmed and has lead fights away from innocents particularly the elderly, children and pregnant women regardless of nationality.

It is alleged that he possesses legendary Kung Fu powers like longevity but he only smiles enigmatically when asked such questions.

It was thought that at one time he was the Samurai until the two appeared at the same time in the same location. Both bowed politely to each other and vacated the premises.

Phoenix Hand often backs up The Anaconda which makes the US police interested in him

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

Ronnie Williams was always a great boxer, and he dreamed of winning a title bout some day. But just before the big fight, he tested positive for having a metagene and was not only booted from that fight but from all future boxing competition as well. They even revoked all his past wins and sued him for all the money he had won in the ring, as if he hadn't earned it fair and square. Okay, sure, he could turn his skin and everything he wears to a golden-hued metal, but it shoulda been freakin' obvious that there was no way he had done that in the past -- everyone woulda seen it!

His life's work at a dead end, Ronnie drifted from job to job, eventually falling in as bodyguard for a mobster in Philadelphia. But when he was a little slow getting between his boss and the Gambini boys, he was truly on the run. He took refuge as a member of Brute Force, taking the name Golden Gloves. He's only as strong as a normal person can get, but once "armored up" he's pretty tough to hurt, and his metal fists hit like piledrivers.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

Hand-to-hand combat is an obvious specialization when you're...a hand.

This bizarre member of Brute Force is a disembodied human hand that calls "himself" The Beast with Five Fingers, after a 1946 horror movie. 'Beast' is a large and powerful but well-shaped (almost elegant) left hand, skin colour Caucasian, that appears to have been cleanly disarticulated from the arm, leaving about two inches of the wrist. Beast has a large midnight blue tattoo of a pentacle (5-pointed star-in-circle) on his back, below the knuckles. He communicates by writing, either freehand with pen/pencil or by typing on a keyboard...and insists on being referred to as male.

He enjoys arm-wrestling anyone of either gender, and is very hard to beat. He flatly refuses to discuss his situation -- an animated disembodied hand -- but occasionally little clues about his past do crop up. And he does have a sense of humour...witness his name.

Strange as it sounds, Beast is a skilled old-fashioned pugilist, springing up spider-like to deliver devastating closed-fist blows. He can also crawl rapidly over an opponent's head and torso and punch while bracing himself on his wrist. How does he get the force and leverage to do damage with his punches? No-one is quite sure, but the results are undeniably effective. Beast is also an appallingly effective dirty fighter, an eye-gouging, choking-holding, hitting-below-the-belt dirty fighter -- all tactics which were once perfectly acceptable in boxing -- and once he climbs onto an opponent it's only a matter of moments before that opponent is down for the count.

Down -- but usually not dead. Beast has commented that these fellows today seem a lot softer than he's used to; Queensbury Rules were after his time, and he never held with them for just that reason...rules make a fighter soft.

So he wouldn't be too upset if one of the softies did go squish -- except that it's not very sporting, squishing a softie.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

The trick, of course, is disarming him.

He's a big former roustabout on offshore oil platforms all over the world. And you know what there is to do on an oil rig when you're not on duty? Not much. You can watch videos. You can eat. You can sleep.

If you're Kit Bash, you spend a whole lot of free time playing darts. After mastering that, you throw knives at the dart board. Then you make yourself a dummy and toss knives at it. Then you stab it. Then you start throwing this at it. That at it. Everything at it. And you whack at it with this and that and the other.

Then you're off duty for a couple of months and you find yourself in a bar brawl and you find yourself clearing the place all by your lonesome. Just you and some chairs and bottles and glasses and (you forget how you got these) the bartenders eye-glasses. And this earns you some attention.

And somebody makes you an offer. You turn it down. You go back to the rig. You come back to shore. Another brawl -- this one set up to see if you can do it again. And you can. And more offers. And some of those offers are hard to turn down for all kinds of reasons. Heck, why not? You go for it. Earn more in one job than you earned in six months of unskilled labor on a floating oil can in the middle of the friggin' ocean...

So he become Rig. Anything Kit picks up, he can rig into a weapon. He's sent people to the hospital armed with nothing more than a box of tissues. Rig truly is a great example of brute force. He's never learned to make what he does look pretty. But now he's getting some new offers. Offers from people who want to turn Rig into a work of art. He's turned them all down for the moment to concentrate on getting paid with Brute Force. Sooner or later, though, he'll get an offer he can't refuse. Then Rig will either be broken or worked into something new. Maybe even more deadly.

Norman Nathan, or Norm, walks in the shadow of his comrades. He's not very physical, strong, or tough. He has one abilty that helps him keep up with them even as well as he does.

He can see attacks coming his way like they are in slow motion so he can step aside. He's not really a speedster, but his reflexes can carry him out of all but the widest attack.

Reversing his ability allows him to cut through any defense with his fingers. There has been nothing he can't cut with his bare hands.

Most people don't know how dangerous he is until he breaks a bone with a finger poke.

Which strangely reminds me of Mandelbrot from European Enemies IIRC.

And I wasn't aware of it that I was to post a new team theme. Bolo did it, so there's no need to wait for my idea. I'll give to you all if I happen to be the last contributor in one of the next challenges.

Re: Create a Villain Theme Team!

Ray Shioni was a back-room clerk at a large bank, just a small cog in the huge corporate machine. He always had a good head for numbers, so he was very good at his job. (As he liked to put it, he could "be the numbers.") However, Ray wasn't an assertive person and was thus doomed to remain at the lowest levels possible. Since Ray often got his work done early, his boss often assigned him scut-work such as filing, office equipment maintenance, and general cleaning.

One day, Ray was tidying up around the office when he accidentally knocked a cup of coffee onto a computer keyboard. As he tried in vain to grab the cup, the shorting-out keyboard gave Ray an electric shock that knocked him for a loop. When he awoke, he discovered that the electricity had somehow triggered a metagene, granting him a very common set of powers with a rather unusual flair.

Now known as Ratio, he calls himself a "sliding-scale brick." He is incredibly tough (practically invulnerable) but barely stronger than a normal human... at first. However, as he either takes hits or hits others, his defenses begin to drop in direct proportion to his strength increasing. He has calculated that, by the time his defenses have fallen to the level of a normal human, he will be able to lift an aircraft carrier. After prolonged inactivity, the levels of his defenses and his strength begin returning to their original levels. (Five minutes usually suffices, depending on how much his strength has increased and his defenses have dropped.)

In addition to the strength / defense dichotomy, Ratio also seems to have a similar link between his speed and his assertiveness, though at a markedly lower level. He starts out fairly fast (6 SPD) but his normally low assertiveness (8 EGO, 8 PRE). At the same time his strength and defenses adjust, his speed drops while his assertiveness increases.

Thus far all of this has been pretty much outside his control, though one of his more learned teammates has theorized that Ratio, though force of will, may be able to forcibly stop or reverse the progression. However, thus far he has either been unable or simply unwilling to do so.

Fibonacci is the planner of the group. A precog, he sees the multitude of patterns and options before him and (so far) always unerringly picks the right ones. Though he's not physically powerfully, he's also blessed with danger sense and a high amount of combat luck.
