Paul Reynolds is the villain known as Mumps because he looks like he has the disease. but woe betide the person who mentions it to him. He is muscle but he is smart enough to just stand there and look intimidating besides it hurts to talk.

Staticstitian

 

The brains of the outfit. Valerie O'Connor was one of the unspoken victims, the collateral damage of a superhero battle. She was a brilliant engineer, working on a new energy distribution grid - when some half-witted supervillain decided he could steal the main catalyzer node. A team of "heroes" intervened - and the node blew, vapourizing the villain and sending six inches of jagged steel into the back of Valerie's head.

 

She was pronounced brain-dead later that night, but it turned out the hospital she was sent to was the hunting ground for a classical mad scientist. He had built a neat little computer, and he wanted to see if it would interface with a human brain. Valerie wasn't using hers...

 

Valerie woke up in a humanoid frame, the only part of her still human being roughly half of her brain. She instantly knew exactly what was going on - the computer had been given all the knowledge the mad scientist could get his hands on. He had just though it would be in control. Valerie wrenched his head off and took over the lab.

 

In a few weeks she'd managed to make a humanoid battle-frame with a much smaller, but lethally potent version of her power node as a weapon system. She'd also decided she'd been a complete fool, working for others, doing "the right thing". What had that gotten her? Dead and forgotten!  Now, she would do what she wished for herself. She gathered five like-minded individuals, and set about putting her skills on the market - if you can pay, up front, she'll get the job done.Just don't try and tell her how.

Gerial Smith was a powered armor mercenary who went by the name Powersmith. Beyond that, he was simply an ordinary mercenary for hire. One day, he was contacted by the Staticstition. He joined the group and his armor was updated.

 

He does feel like the odd man out, but the Staticstition assured him that he is as much a nessisary as any other member of the team. Many people actually are uneasy around pure mechanical beings, so having a only small bit of cyberizated human puts those willing to hire them at ease.

Gauss

 

Perhaps the largest member of the group, Gauss looks like someone cut a giant in half and then mounted him on the base of a tank. Where the stomach, intestines and most of then lungs should be is a large hollow which is in effect a gauss cannon. The arms are fully metal.and are quite capable of throwing cars or other large objects at opponents. The head is surmounted by curly hair and the face looks insane or at least that is the appearance it gives. It says nothing but obeys the orders of the others. It appears to be immune to mental abilities. The cannon blasts devastating beams of  force which can instantly destroy vehicles and blast chunks out of buildings.

Machine Ghost

 

Clark Jeffers was a Naval officer and drone pilot who volunteered for an experimental program to directly connect a pilots consciousness to a drone craft. The project was intended to be the next step in creating a fully robotic front line military. Mechanical soldiers, vehicles and weapons with full human integration. Unfortunately there was an incident and Jeffers body was destroyed during an explosion in the prototype transfer unit. His consciousness survived however still on board the drone. He paniced and fired upon the men in charge of the experiment and fled. Word of the incident reached Staticstitian and she was able to connect with Jeffers. He joined with the team and she crafted a humanoid rig , snake like recon unit, and small mobile tank unit that he can shift his mind into at will.

After an explosion injured him, Viktor Zhekov was rebuilt using cybernetic technology. He was a bodyguard for the Russian Underworld and they were willing to put up the money to save his life. He has lost the ability to use guns effectively either breaking the guns or his aim is off. He serves as the brick of the team. He therefore hits things and carries loads. He is quite intimidating but Gauss is larger and can do a lot more damage. But Viktor can actually walk into buildings and intimidate them there. He is Staticstition's bodyguard

Farley Gruant devised a railgun like system for people. The problem was the people had to be augmented enough to survive the ride. The project was considered a failure, but Farley kept working on making it feasible until he had a working model for himself. Deep in debt, he accepted the offer of employment by using his system as Slide Right as a human sized projectile.

The Crimson Jaguarundi

 

This villain comes from Colombia. His colouring is more red than crimson but he is that much of an egoist that he chose crimson and has maimed people who have referred to him as any other shade of red. He has found some work as an assassin but can also be found just using violence. Any job which involves maiming will get him interested. He is not a member of the cartels but will work for them.

Andean Cat

 

Emilio Santiago was a poacher who fought against Andean Condor early in his adventuring days before he joined the Birds of Paradise. Santiago's face was heavily damaged from blowback from his AK-47 during the battle. He sought out the services of Doctor Diabolico to modify his body into an instrument of revenge. He chose one of the endangered animals he was hunting and had the sinister surgeon transform him into a human version of that cat. One ruined eye replaced by a robotic cats eye giving him enhanced vision. His ruined teeth replaced by steel fangs and steel claws planted in his hands. His strength, agility and speed were also greatly increased. His focus is on revenge, but his old criminal contacts and ruthlessness make him a valuable team member.

Geoffroy is the smallest member of the team and a duplicator. He is able to use his power to traverse his range effortlessly

Hailing from Paraguay, Leoparda Guttula is named after Leopardus Guttulus or the Southern Tiger Cat. She preys on people then becomes invisible and sends telepathic messages to unsettle people. She is used when subtlety is needed and when perhaps the target does not need to be killed.

The Icelot has felinoid abilities which give her dexterity and hunting reflexes, and the ability to create ice out of thin air.  And she is capable with both sides as many a lawman and vigilante have learned to their frostbitten horror

The leader of the group is the infamous Golden Jaguar. Many of his exploits have been thwarted by the Birds of Paradise from Pincoya in Chile to the Scarlet Macaw in Brazil and the Andean Condor along the length of the Andes. But he reserves a special place in Hell for the Steamer Duck. No-one knows what particular reason he has but Golden Jaguar has been known to maim and kill anyone even making an offhand comment about it.. But it was after the Scarlet Tanager used her singing ability to take down some of his goons that the Golden Jaguar decided that enough was enough. He formed the team in order to stand against the Birds of Paradise. He decided that as cats are the natural enemies of birds, that would be the people he would look for.

The Jaguar is less concerned about killing the Birds of Paradise than at thwarting them. If the others do not feel the same way, that is irrelevant. They are just to keep the Birds of Paradise occupied while his own schemes go ahead.

 

New Team The Chinese Zodiac Mk II

Anything you can do,  I can do better, I can do anything better than you. Dr Clement Blatchford became aware of the Chinese Zodiac and believed that he could do better with different animals using his fabulous Omnitron. So he created a second Chinese Zodiac only none of the animal villains are actually represented in the Chinese Zodiac.Examples include Wolf, Panda, Elephant, Cat, Antelope, Pheasent, Fox, Sable, Dugong, Camal, Pangolin, Porcupine.

And as there is a dragon in the original there should be one mythical beast from China in the mix. But all animals must be found in China.

Generally they are not as vicious as their counterparts.

There should be at least two women if the rest are men and vice versa.

And although the Omnitron does not necessarily produce the greatest of villains cf Top Notch, the Marvellous Horse and Mouse Girl, it has managed to produce stable forms.

The Mad Intellectual Think Tank (particularly BB and Dr Nymax! ) became aware of what Clement was doing and decided to observe it. After all the Gwailou Tigress would be more upset than them and more likely to do something.

Anna Randolph was an activist dedicated to forwarding women's rights and animal rights. She had a hectoring tone and would relentlessly pursue her targets dragging them into the light of publicity. She was one of those activists who end up on police files as they are the ones that go the extra mile. And it was this attitude that led to her downfall. She and some colleagues learned of a hidden laboratory conducting illicit experiments on animals. Rather than go through lawyers and do thorough checking, they broke in after evading the guards and alarms. Except it was a trap and the lab belonged to a criminal organisation. Anna was separated from her colleagues and eventually passed to Dr Clement Blatchford who gleefully put her into the Omnitron. A little baking and bathing later and Anna was then given a spot of mental reconditioning. Now as the fox Huxian she is a member of the new Chinese Zodiac

The Snow Leopard operates at higher altitudes, favoring the Himalayas and parts of Tibet. Operatives who have chased him in his natural habitat has learned to fear his propensity to cause avalanches and burying them and their equipment.

Pangolin

 

How do you deal with the possible extinction of a species ? Simple ! Create a giant human sized version and set it loose. That is what Clement Blatchford did using the Omnitron.

Take one pesky Chinese inspector.

Lure him to a convenient location.

Knock him out with gas and keep him unconscious through the use of drugs.

Place subject in the Omnitron.

Feed in all relevant details to the Omnitron.

Cook on a slow heat for 2 days.

Cross fingers and hope it has worked.

Open machine and retrieve subject.

Dance with glee that it has worked.

Unleash on the Chinese.

 

Pangolin has actually killed when confronted with people trying to collect ingredients for Chinese medicine.

The Sable Bear is the most fierce of the Zodiac, taking away prizes from other criminals with a ferocity that belies his size. Once he has his bite in, he never lets go

Do you remember that TV show The Shires ? It had that actress, Melanie Simmonds, she was kind of cute. It was funny how it went off the air after five seasons, it still had some legs in it. 

Paul Redwood loved the show and could not shut up about how cute Melanie was. Trouble was that Paul worked for Dr Clement Blatchford and Clement got increasingly fed up about Paul's obsession. So he decided to teach Paul a lesson. He had Melanie kidnapped. Unfortunately a couple of other members of the cast were with her but they were eliminated and no-one has yet found the bodies.

Then the actress was shoved into the Omnitron. Clement thought she would come out ugly as sin. However the Omnitron had other ideas. She came out as cute. She is now Red Panda. Paul has been told if he does not behave Melanie will get shot. Melanie has been told that if she does not co-operate then Dr Blatchford will detonate dirty radioactive bombs in Southern China. She believes him.

The Yunan Giant is a Chow Li. He has the climbing abilities of a squirrel, able to glide thanks to a membrane of skin under his arms, and capable of turning into a giant beast

Western Dragon joined the team on a lark. His power helped get him accepted, as did his laid-back and unargumentative manner - more of a seen-it-before, wasn't-impressed-then kind of thing. But he's loyal to his friends, and with his flame breath, armoured skin and flight abilities, not to mention great strength, he's a useful guy to have around.

Of late a few of his teammates have questioned where his powers came from. Is he a mutant? But he has lots of different powers. Some sort of mystic? Would explain why his skin looks a bit scaly after bouncing powerful attacks, if he's channeling the essence of dragon. But he just says it doesn't matter. And to him it doesn't - he's having more fun then he has in centuries!

(Yes, he is a creation of the Omnitron - but he doesn't believe that, and is of the opinion that he is a real dragon!)

As a reminder all the members of the team were created by Dr Clement Blatchford using the Omnitron. So Western Dragon might have 'escaped' and been recruited later.

 

Dugong

 

Clement did some experiments with the Omnitron in order to get a marine operative. So there were some failures. Nobody was going to miss the people anyway. Well no-one of any significance. Eventually he succeeded and when he was working on the Chinese Zodiac, his version, he decided to do it again using a variant to make a Dugong. Then he needed a suitable candidate. And who better than a crusading District Attorney ? So Creighton Mackenzie was 'killed' during a supervillain attack on his offices. In reality he was kidnapped, put into the Omnitron, transformed and reprogrammed. So Dugong was born. Dr Blatchford also ensured that Creighton would obey the leader of the team being submissive.
