Pretty as a Picture !

A failed villain who became a success on Instagram or a model who dabbled in crime, who can say ? That is the riddle behind Pretty as a Picture ! Her real name has been erased and any digital footprint before she started uploading pictures has mysteriously vanished. How she got superpowers is also subject to speculation as even she does not know, it's all a bit fuzzy. She does recall that people wanted her to do explicit material and she refused. She also knows that she only stole from people after she wore a supervillain outfit for a photo shoot. At times she believes she is possessed by the spirit of 'Catwoman' if that person had existed. She does not even know what superpowers she has as there have been different ones for different occasions including phasing through walls and climbing surfaces that should be nigh on impossible.

She became aware of the others but thought nothing of it until they contacted her. She is closest to Naked Anarchy and Fashionista in terms of outlook and she seems to be the most criminally minded of the group going after profitable schemes and targets. For this reason Twin Action keeps Master of Shaolin away from her so that she does not let anything slip.

She uses the name Lorraine West even though she knows that it is not her real name. She is a good looking woman with dark hair. Her costume is usually figure hugging but that does not really show her off so that the police or others do not connect her to her criminal exploits. And she has ones in different colours in order to throw the police and others off her scent.

A certain mad scientist is aware of her and neither confirms or denies that he has anything to do with her. She just happened to choose the name from the phrase and added an exclamation mark for emphasis, to stand out. Or maybe that is what someone wants us to believe......

The villain known as Tick Tock is a master gadgeteer, who has a legion of tiny wind-up robots to help him with his crimes - though a handful of them are dedicated to recording every utterance of their master and broadcasting it online.  (He also has a bit of a crush on Pretty as a Picture! and often dedicates a minion robot or two to record her as well.)

I saw DShomshak's post last night and thought about posting 'Boo hoo, SOB !' etc but as he is now not running a team, I have an idea which hopefully will be fun.

New Team:

The hero Virtuous is dead and one of his rogue's gallery did it but which one and how ?

You see the body of the hero is gone and has been destroyed (cremated ?) so no physical evidence remains and no video/audio evidence remains of the killing/fight that led to his death.

Your task should you choose to accept it is to detail a member of Indecency, or Indecency Brigade as it was once called, how they came to join forces with other enemies of Virtuous and what in the end lead them to kill the hero.

Virtuous was more Batman or (early) Flash like rather than Superman like.

No simple stab with a knife or shot dead for the hero.

It can be outlandish such as a wrecking ball hitting a giant domino which hits something else, you get the idea.

It can be accidental. Chasing the villain and slipping etc.

It can be methodically planned.

Minimum 5 maximum 7

There were more than 7 members but you can name ones who do not appear.

They should be more like Batman or The Flash's Rogues galleries as they went toe to toe with the hero rather than say Lex Luthor using proxies against Superman

Virtuous had a reputation for being a paragon of Virtue so no 'Hero is really a bad guy stuff

Mammon named himself after the demon associated with greed. His entire crime gimmick was all about coins. His weapons were a coin sword, coin mail armor, exploding "40 pieces of Roman silver" coins, etc.

He supposed to have squished Victorious under a giant coin. With Virturous dead, he has retired kinda, as he lost his ambition as the challenger seems to be gone. But...given the correct situation may come out of retirement to give other heroes problems. Mammon originally joined Incendiary because they thought joining up would help them escape Virtuous while preforming their crimes.

He helped finance the group.

Virtuous not Victorious

Doctor Medusa has no super-powers, just her Petrifying Gun that transforms organic matter into, to look at it, white marble. Depending on the gun's setting, the transformation reverses in minutes, hours, or, or apparently never. (Anything inorganic shot by the gun tends to shatter, which is how she breaks into bank vaults and the like.) The Marmoreal Menace has never deliberately used her gun to kill, and Virtuous found a simple way to reverse the transformation, but there have been accidents -- which is part of how Doctor Medusa because wanted by the law and had to turn to a life of (deliberate) crime.

Doctor Medusa made no secret of her attraction to Virtuous, and her desire to "collect" him. He'd make a gorgeous statue... though he spontaneously reverses the petrifying effect in mere minutes, regardless of the gun's setting. So her strategy has always been to petrify Virtuous long enough to complete some other crime and get away with no greater harm to him than lipstick on his cheek. In her last caper, though, rumor has it she shot Virtuous just before her partner, another member of the Indecency Brigade, punched him.

And knocked him off the edge of the skyscraper whose penthouse apartment they had just robbed.

And the hero broke.

Scuttlebutt in the underworld is that Doctor Medusa had to be dragged away, while screaming, "I can fix him!" She hasn't been seen since. But some people say that when Doctor Medusa returns to crime, she's going to be crazy. Bad crazy.

One of the reasons for the name of the group that opposed Virtuous was The Exhibitionist. He saw his life as opposing the stuffed shirt that he perceived the hero as and pricking his conscious. Most of what he did was more public spectacle than actual criminality but the hero was unimpressed by any of The Exhibitionist's rhetoric and he had him arrested. After the latter's lawyer got him off one too many times the hero found a better way of dealing with him. Physical force. A punch here or tying him up while he dealt with real criminals. As he was dealing with a number of his recurring villains that way they held a meeting and founded the group. It was General Animosity who got them together but The Exhibitionist who named the group after a number of suggestions were shot down. He further stated that they should not have a 'set uniform' as only the hero would really care that they were together. Besides public indecency was his schtick and getting the others involved would take the spotlight away from him.

Although he got a lot out of working with the others, The Exhibitionist became more and more convinced that the hero was not treating him seriously. And as time went on he snapped. He came up with the ultimate death trap which was a real Heath Robinson piece of work. Supposedly some civilians were caught up in it and the hero had to sacrifice his life into saving them.

At least that is what The Exhibitionist is telling the doctors at the asylum.

Atrocity was never more than an associate member of Indecency, because some of the members really didn't want to work with him. His "schtick" was to go for the maximum body count, preferably as bloodily as possible. Yet another "product" of the various super-soldier initiatives, Atrocity was trained and enhanced to be the supreme terror weapon. The fact that he no longer had any sort of moral compass or loyalty to anyone or anything was viewed by his handlers as a success in bio-mental conditioning - until he went off the reservation - and just kept going.

Atrocity hated Virtuous for stopping some of his most "creative" exploits. So he tricked the superhero into trying to stop a runaway tanker truck full of petroleum - except that it was actually full of dioxygen difluoride. And designed to spray it's contents all over anyone trying to get the tanker under control. Or so he claimed, after a PRIMUS team finally brought him in.

The detonation leveled several city blocks. No trace of what was at the centre of the blast was ever determined.

Sharon Clarke is a success. She can now be released safely into society and she is no threat to anyone or anything. She no longer needs the medication and no more electroconvulsive therapy. The down side is she no longer has any memory of what she did and who she was. Which is a shame as she was supposed to have spirited away a lot of money and other things for her retirement.

But then again the Law Enforcement is glad to see the back of Yellow Beryl

Half oriental and half American although she often changed story to say which one of her parents was American and which Chinese/Japanese/Other Oriental. And she played up to the racist expectations and stereotypes as it annoyed people or got them so angry that they made mistakes. Virtuous did not like it and tried to get her to change which only encouraged her all the more. She was often prone to gloating about her plans and this led to her capture on more than one occasion. The others in the group particularly Poisson Rouge exploited this tendency and thus ensured the success of the group by feeding her false information which she then blurted out to the hero or police. He then pulled the rug out from the police and the hero by telling her the truth which she told the law only for them to believe that it was false.

It is known that Virtuous hammered Poisson Rouge the first chance he got after this.

But it did lead to Sharon becoming unhappy with the group and not as trusting as she was being manipulated. Sadly this was to escalate as another villain had a problem with Virtuous and that was Meggido. He captured her and had her brainwashed into becoming a killer in order to bump off the hero. Sharon and several others went into the sewers beneath the Smithsonian museum in New York City pursued by Virtuous. Only one person was found to have come out and that was Sharon who was then incarcerated and underwent extensive mental health treatment. This was despite what the FBI and police department wanted. When they were able to question her they found that her treatment had wiped out her entire criminal career and thus her memory of all events related to it. It has been claimed, quite successfully, that if the brainwashing had not been undone then she would have achieved a large number of homicides in excess of one hundred or more people.

Meggido openly boasts that he used her to kill the hero and those who were with her. He also taunts that he will make things worse for anyone wanting to avenge the hero or those with Yellow Beryl at the time. Traces have been found that confirm that people died and at least one retrocognitive has confirmed the hero is dead.

Sharon is retired and employed in a social security office where people can keep an eye on her. Her old comrades have confirmed that she does not know what happened to the hero or her stash and so leave her alone.

Had this idea for the name today and ran with it.

New Team: Denizens Dark

Ever wonder why so many villain origins involve odd energies, strange chemicals, or other transformative catalysts that not only empower but corrupt? Be it full blown psychosis, or merely loosening the restraints on the personal Id, it seems quite often ordinary people exposed to extraordinary stimuli are prone to villainhood. One evil scientist decided to research this. Using his illgotten gains to purchase an apartment building (And charging lower rates than was fashionable), he began to pump corruptive mutagens and other agents into the units of a single floor. He also pumped sublimianl messages to encourage  they surrender to  vices and ambition (with a fail safe so they do not attack him if they ever discover they're his guinea pigs) . Over the last few months, more and more of the residents have begun to exhibit selfish and immoral behavior. A percentage of those succumbing have also begun to develop superpowers. At least five of them have taken up costumes and become true supervillains! They don't know how or why they've changed, but they rather enjoy it, and they realize they are not alone so they've formed a team.

They call themselves Denizens Dark... a tip of the hat to their shared residence.

Membership number is 5 to 7 (not counting the scientist himself)

Faceless

Frances Lecter was a minor YouTube celebrity with a channel all about horror movie reviews. The chemical have brought the horror film character he has started writing a screenplay about called "Faceless" to life. When he transforms into Faceless, he is a super humanly strong and durable being without a face nor need to breathe and a violent streak which makes Jason Voorhees look like a quire boy.

Even when not transformed, Frances has become more antisocial, rairly posting his reviews on YouTube anymore, and quick to anger and resort to violence. Faceless' trademark is to rip off the faces of the people he has killed.

Makeup

Yvonne Fairchild has worked at many tasks in her 80 or so years. Barmaid, dancer-for-hire, waitress, numbers runner, thief, streetwalker when she was down and out...which was more often then she'd like to remember. Her latest one has been as a cosmetics specialist and beautician in a mid-scale beauty salon. She's still working because she has never managed to put together any sort of savings, and Social Security ran out years ago.

But of late she's been using her makeup skills a lot on herself...because without them she doesn't look like an eighty year old anymore. In fact, she looks like she did when she was 30...well, actually, better, since Yvonne was never much of a looker. And the beautician job isn't being done for the meagre pay, but to find victims.

When she finds someone willing to chat, who has some money, who is single or otherwise living alone, that's when she strikes. She uses her ability to teleport through mirrors to go straight from her rooms to the victim's place, her knowledge of makeup to make herself unrecognizable, her newfound strength and vitality to capture the woman (or man - men don't come as often to the salon, but she isn't picky). She makes them tell her where all the money is, all the valuables, and then she paints their face - with acidic, poisonous makeup of her own devising. They come out of it beautiful to look at, but underneath, their faces are melting...

None of her victims have survived so far, and the Police have instituted a task force to find the "Makeup Killer". But who would suspect a little old lady?

On the team side, she acts as a scout and infiltrator. She's actually quite capable of combat, but she dislikes it. The others know she's someone in the building, but not that it is little granny Yvonne from the fourth floor.

Another man whose life was going nowhere was Paul Grady. He had an ordinary office job and it was mundane until he was made redundant. Stuck in the apartment trying to work out what jobs to apply for and how he would have to pay rent, the chemicals and mutagens got to work while the subliminal messages turned him to the course of evil. He dreamed of another existence and when he woke he looked into the mirror and saw a stranger, a corpulent moustached fellow with a bulbous nose and large horn rimmed glasses. Startled he shook and resumed his own appearance. Puzzled he looked into the mirror again and slowly pictured himself as the stranger again. Lo and behold he changed gradually. And he had power, power over the lesser beings, power over their minds for he had developed mental powers. He found these powers only came with the new form and over a few days he experimented as he could now hear peoples thoughts, make them believe they saw things they did not, temporarily paralyse their minds and cause them pain. Then working on the basis 'Go Big or Go Home' he walked into his former employment and went after the bosses causing them to transfer money to him and some of their possessions before making them unsure of what they had done and to whom. As he returned to the apartment he let the others know he was aware of them and was prepared to be their leader. For like other mentalists before him he has an entire chip shop on his shoulder. He is Magnum Opus

an odd effect of the transformation is that Paul can be read by a telepath in his own ID and it will show nothing of his criminal career. However as Magnum Opus IF someone got through his ego and mental defences all would be revealed including the others. But how powerful would you have to be to do that ?

Step Out

Virginia Wilmore was a decent, church going, moral woman. She was a loving wife, and took pride in her profession as a nurse. She was a helper.

How far her power has grown, and how far her ethics have fallen. Already an attractive woman, Virginia seemed to tone up, shape up, became even more attractive, or maybe it was more confidence mixed with discarding her old sense of modesty that really sold it? When she began to teleport, she was filled with wonder, of course, but she also began to realize a fact... she was better than other people. She deserved more. And she was going to get what she deserved.

Her job as nurse and powers made it easy for her to steal drugs and equipment from the hospital without getting caught. In case of cameras, she was one of the first to don a mask, but her growing vanity soon had that accompanied by a rather revealing costume. From there, she began a full blown career as not just a thief, but as a transporter for the other Denizens and  other criminals willing to pay her for her services. She's no weakling in a fight,  able to apport others high in the air to plunge, or simply causing them to blink in place so rapidly they pass out. She hasn't killed yet, acting like that's beneath her... but she doesn't feel any guilt at getting killers to their target. That's not on HER is it?

No longer faithful to her husband, she's taken more than one lover when the mood strikes her, though most men consider her a 'tease'. Vain, selfish, and greedy; Virginia Wilmore, the old one, is long gone. Now, in her place, is the woman called Step Out.

My Way

Donald Trembly was arguably a bit of a self-centered narcissistic jerk even before the mutagens and subliminal conditioning.  You know the guy that pulls your half-finished laundry out of the communal washing machine because he doesn't want to wait?  The guy that has your car towed when you just parked a few inches over the line, rather than ask you to move it?  The guy who calls in noise complaints on his neighbors, then has a loud party that runs until 3 am?  That guy who stares and leers at any cute girl going past, making her more than nervous? That was Donnie.  His favorite phrase was, "It's my way, or the highway" but honestly, he didn't see that there was any way but his way.

The mutations and subliminal conditioning dialed his jerkiness up to 11 and gave him the power to back it up.  He's now a brick powerhouse, strong enough to compress your laundry into a ultra-hard cube, toss your car a block or more, and clap his hands hard enough to cause a shockwave that shatters windows and pulverizes walls.  He's taken the name "My Way" and throws his weight around wherever he likes.

I don't have any real idea for a new team, so I'll leave it to whomever wants to post a team idea.

Maiden In Ironland

Know how many Iron Maidens there are ? Or Iron Ladies ? Or Iron Girls ? Iron Women ? The list goes on and on..

So when Iron Maid was hired and saw old death traps and the Vincent Price film, The Pit and the Pendulum she saw the Iron Maiden as a trap for the first time. And thus the awful pun Maiden in Ironland was born. She is a medium level brick in an armoured suit who ends to use a polearm or staff in Hand to Hand combat.
