The Sphinx is a woman with lion claws and legsn and wings like an angel. She has some power over magic and delights in riddles. She is also quite a combatant. She sees herself as the leader of the group whatever the others may think.

Daedalus is the inventor/gadgeteer of the group.  He was always seemingly able to absorb scientific knowledge even at a young age at a level higher than genius.  Whether or not he is the leader in comparison to the Sphinx, he generally comes up with the plan.

 

Edit:  He also is fond of creating overly complicated traps to slow down the heroes when needed

Hydra

 

The gorgon Euryale did the team a favour and cast a spell that allowed the Hydra to assume human form. The beast tends to lurk at the back but woe betide anyone trying to take him on as when the spell drops you are looking at a multi-headed being with a bucket load of ferocity. Of all the group the beast is not happy in the new age. He particularly detests the film Jason and the Argonauts for two reasons. The first is that he was killed and the second is that the teeth were then harvested and brought forth skeletons. This latter reason has made the beast paranoid that not only necromancers are after him but also sorcerors who could control him via his teeth. And do not get him started on the Red Skull and Baron Strucker's organisation either. He is also not fond of the T-Rex song Get It On as it mentions the teeth of the Hydra.

Mike Taris was always a big person. He didn't become a bully till he realized how he could use his size and strength to intimidate people. That lead him to realize he could make people give him stuff. Which led to a life of crime. Two stints in prision later he realized he wasn't the biggest toughest guy on the block, and even if he was you needed more than one man to run things off the play ground.

 

Fortunatly he had been intimidating a little science geek for years. It wasn't hard to make him create a method for Mike to become even stronger. The whole turning into a bull man thing was not the plan. As the little geek laughed at him he said.

"Now Mike your as ugly on the outside as the inside. How do you like being a minotaur. Something so ugly they locked him away in a maze."

 

Mike replied. "I'm not as dumb as people like to think. They didn't lock the minotaur away because it was ugly. It was because it ate people."

 

Tossing the body off his horn, Mike realized he probably should have waited till the guy had invented a cure. Still he had never been so powerful, and he soon met up with the Mutants of Mythos so he's o.k. with it

The specialty of Helios is to absorb solar energy, which he primarily uses for his powerful Sun Blast technique (powerful EB)

Name: Echo

Power: Sonic Absorption and Projection - Able to store sonic vibration (noise, talking, etc).  She can replay it specifically or piece it together to form sentences.  She is also able to combine all the stored sound and release it as a sonic force.  With time she has learnt to manipulate the sound characteristics (Frequency, Amplitude, etc) this allows her to disintegrate objects and create areas of sonic interference to negate sound (Darkness Hearing - AOE).   

 

Story:

Sarah was born mute, although all her other sense work fine.  She was always the target of bullies and was left out of most things.  Her home life was not much better, her mother had walked out when she was 6 with another man and her father had fallen to drink which lead to violence.

 

She discovered in her early teens that she could absorb the sound from around her and release it.  With practice she could talk by projecting pieced together conversation she had heard.  From then on she carried a small computer with her and pretended that it was talking for her. 

 

When she was 15 she was at a football game and the school bully decided to pick on her as usual.  When the bully hit her over the head she lost control of her power and absorb the sound of the cheering crowd and then released it as a scream at the bully.  The stadium was destroyed by the combined sound of all the people.  The bully suffered sever injury and was rendered permanently deaf.  

 

Luckily for Sarah no one realized that it was her, they were unsure what it was.  This event changed her life, she realized that she did not have to be a victim and when she learnt of what had happened to the bully who had tormented her she was happy.  She started to get back a the people who had always bullied her including her farther.  People started to realize that something was wrong in town and when suspicion pointed at Sarah she fled.  She used her powers to take what she needed to survive, never staying in a single place to long.   

 

It was in her early 20s when she first broke into a bank by disintegrating the wall of the vault.  It was shortly after this that she came to the attention of the Mutants of Mythos.

Team The Devil's Mathemeticians

These 5 intellectuals delved into their various fields too far, learning knowledge that mortal man was not meant to know.  While this helped them become more powerful than they thought they could ever be, it came at the price of sanity.  They have now become omnicidal, wanting to destroy everything up to (and possibly including) themselves to quiet their minds. Their fields of expertise and powers are up to who creates whether it be magic, science, mathematics, etc.

Pi Lord

 

Profesor Rodger Blueburry was one of the greatest mathmatitions of our time. He set out to prove that, yes, Pi does have an end. Finaly, after seven years of constant equasioning to prove his theory about Pi haveing and end, he finaly clamed to find it. And to prove it, he became Pi Lord, a costumed crinimal able to manipulate the Pi equasion to cause odd things to happen. He joined the group when he discovered that there were others like him, and wished for the same thing...the solution to the ultimate equasion. Even if it singles the end of all things.

 

His powers include the teleportation of himself and others, changing the shape of things till thay are perfectly round, warping the path of things, amoung other powers.

The Angle Man

 

Some things man was not meant to know.  And sometimes someone who has knowledge fails to heed the wisdom of others. This is what happened to Kurt Jansen, a maths graduate who specialised in geometry. He heard of a place where the normal laws of geometry did not apply and set out to investigate despite warnings from a University in New England who he corresponded with. He ended up in the Pacific on a strange island. Unfortunately as some of you will have guessed already this was part of the city of R'lyeh. Kurt found about about angles alright and went quite insane. He now endeavours to bring his new enlightenment to others as The Angle Man

Calculus the mastermind.

Possessing super savant like ability quickly calculate complex problems. He can respond to attacks or to changes in strategy or tactics quickly and efficiently (Good levels of OCV , tactics skill.)  He can set forth a seemingly random chain of events to produce a desired outcome. This power is bought as levels of luck for himself and unluck useable as attack.  He also has the ability to find weaknesses in his opponents and has great ability to analyze. he uses an omnium steel quarterstaff in combat and is very skilled in its use

Zero has always been a place holder of a number. It means nothing, but adds to a digit in front of it. Malcom Reeves took the power of zero and applied that to everything. Taking away the zero at the end of a measurement allows him to warp the world. Cars can't drive above walking speed, buildings can't be above nine feet high, miles are compressed to feet. There's nothing you can't do if you take away the zero. But then Malcom also has the ability to add a zero too. CES

Dr. Henrick Lars great project was supposed to lead to a better understanding of the unified field theory. The whole opening a hole into a dimensional vortex was an accident. At least that was the concenus of the ten of him that was now in the room. After much arguing during which some suggested that the vortex had warped their minds the Lars figured out two things. First how to put themselves back into one person, and second that they could alter anythings mass. They could increase it or decrease it by ten percent at a time. Now Decimal works with the Devil's Mathmaticans trying to reach a concenus of bringing the vortex here and crushing the universe or feeding the universe to the vortex ten percent at a time.

The Staff six members

 

Arturo Anropoff was not only one of the richest men in the world but quite power mad. It was no secret among his household staff that the man led an international criminal conspiracy. They were a bit surprised when he tried to take over the world. Unfortunatly he was "killed" in the attempt and after Until was finished going over the massive mansion the staff was allowed back in. Another open secret that the staff knew but Until had missed was the secret bunker under the house. Frederick Faust the chauffer got the rest of the staff to agree to look in it.

 

Things didn't go as expected and they emerged with powers. Frederick found he could move at superspeed and create a telekinetic field to pull or shove things that gained strength the faster he moved. He immediately pointed out no one was going to pay them as well as their former employer, and got them to agree to become supervillians. Now as the Chauffer he acts as the Staff's transport and leader.

Prudence Ramsey is the Cook.  She can turn up a meal anywhere with the simplest ingredients. Her control of microwaves allows her to use her hands to heat it up.

Estelle Grieves became The French Maid. She talks in an outrageous French accent and flirts shamelessly which distracts people. And allows the rest to get away with their caper. Estelle was rather plain but her new alter ego is sexy and daring. And she can understand languages now almost instinctively despite the fact she failed to master French or Spanish at school. The French Maid is stronger than a normal man/woman and is adept at martial arts involving houshold objects relating to being a maid like dusters, polish, vacuums, brushes and trays.

Dominic Dreadfall is the Major Domo. He was given vast regeneration ability. Add that to his vast military experience and butlering skills, and you have a polite nightmare.

Raul the pool boy was good at 2 thing  before the accident, 1. cleaning the pool( well not really that good) and 2. doing special favors for bored trophy wives (his real talent.) After the accident he was horribly disfigured now a living pool of water. Losing his primary vocation and quite angry about the loss of the fringe benefits, Raul decided that it was time to get his own. He decided to join up with his fellows and take from the world what he deserves. He is able to flow into secure areas, shoot out columns of water, and he is quite resistant to physical damage. If water can get in than he can get in and water can seep in virtually everywhere.

Anropoff's "personal assistant" was a lovely young woman by the name of Stella Cann.  As the Attache, she is now a powerful cyberpath/techopath, able to manipulate computers and machines.

 

 

She also thinks, perhaps correctly, that the rest of the Staff has little respect for her due to being Anropoff's mistress.  Seething with resentment, she is plotting to take control of the group when the time is right...

 

 

New team: Sore Losers

Theme:  Some time in their respective lives, those who became the Sore Losers lost BIG.  Maybe it was an important game, maybe it was a fortune, maybe it was the love of their lives.  But now, they want the world to feel that same sense of loss and pain as their revenge...

Lars "Lard Assman" Hanson, felt all of his dreams were coming true, he was obese and was a virgin but he was selected to appear on a new TV show called "Life makeover".  He met with "personal trainers" and went on a special diet of shakes. He opened his heart to the camera revealing all of his insecurities and dreams. He was even introduced to gorgeous women that fell in love with him. His life was turning around, or so he thought. As the show neared its end it was revealed on live TV that it was a hoax. The real name of the show was "big fat loser" and the diet shakes he had been consuming were designed to make him gain weight. he came into the show weighing almost 300 lbs and ended weighing nearly 600 lbs. The women professed their disgust and how they could barely stand to be near him.  Something fragile inside him snapped and he went on a rampage, stomping the host flat and breaking the necks of more than one girl.  At one point he even took bites from the corpses. He fled to the streets his hunger unsated, killing and stomping anyone he felt like killing.  Until he was picked up by like minded souls bent on revenge for the wrongs of the world.

 

Little did anyone know that his ordeal not only broke his sanity but also unleashed a latent mutant power.  He  is incredibly tough, resistant to damage, and strong.  He is vicious beyond belief and even has sharpened his teeth to points.  The cops had dubbed him the 10 ton cannibal but his childhood nickname of Lard Assman stuck.

Thad Fairlane once owned a prosperous toy company. It was bought by Hasbro and he was booted out by the merger. Then his beloved toys were made over and then phased out when they didn't sell enough. Fairlane has turned his talent for toys to making deadly traps he leaves in a victim's house.

 

He calls himself the Toymaker, but the police know him as Rat Trap.

What kind of people would set up others to suffer so much ? The answer dear colleagues lies earlier in this very thread. The Corruption principally Backer and Powerbroker used the Dreamstealers to ruin lives in order to set up a new group. This would divert attention from themselves and also The Dreamstealers. They selected as their principal victim David Watkins.

 

Watkins was a normal guy who invested in Bernie Madoff's company. As a result he was stunned when Madoff was arrested and the whole thing turned out to be a huge Ponzi scheme. He could have recovered but that is when the Corruption set the Dreamstealers on him to ruin his life. The Thief of Everyhing took all the money he had left, The Bogeyman removed his wife, The Tormentor made him believe that his wife had run off, Displacer altered his friends and the Crippler maimed his children. It was then childs play for the Corruption to frame David with the press, the police and the local churches. David was arrested and set to prison in one of the fastest trials in living memory. And it was in prison that David after a beating acquired power. Something came whispering to him in the night offering him solace, offering him revenge and he accepted.

David vanished from prison and now there is only Sorrow. It was he who found the others and he who bound them together in common purpose. And he whom the police are looking for as he made a minister and some members of his congregation cry themselves to death. David only has sympathy and understanding for his fellow colleagues and has persuaded them that the press and police and the public at large will never accept, nor forgive their transgressions. Neither David nor any of the others know that they are pawns of the Corruption and The Dreamstealers
