One of the most recent members is Dream. He/She (Dream prefers to be referred to by the gender they currently appear as) was born intersex, and with his powers fully developed - including her limited shapeshift.  He can appear (and actually BE) either gender, no gender, or both - though the latter isn't preferred, as it gives her a headache.

His mutable biology is also responsible for her powerful capacity to survive in hostile environments. Extreme heat, cold, pressure? Dream has been to the bottom of the Challenger Deep and swum in the Mauna Kea caldera. Vacuum? Been to the moon. (Not again - took two weeks to fly there, two weeks back). Radiation? Has stood in the reactor chamber of a functioning nuclear power plant.

With her ability to fly, slightly above human norm strength, and significant skills in the martial arts (which his parents started to teach her more control over his form), Dream is a significant asset to the Righteous Teens, but one that comes with a significant downside. Dream is astonishingly beautiful, in whatever form he currently has, and has had no compunctions about stating that she is pansexual (though, at 13, he is not yet sexually active), and has become something of a celebrity as well as a poster child for the LGBTIQ community. He's not engaged in politics, and her behaviour and attitudes have been entirely within the guidelines for the team, but his mere existence drives a certain conservative sector insane. The team has lost some support since she joined.

Shout-out

May Bell Reece was born with malformed vocal cords rendering her mute. She grew up very shy and reserved due to her condition. However at age 13 her parents sent her to the St Giles Institute. There she received radical gene treatment that not only gave her the ability to speak but a range of powerful voice related powers including a destructive sonic scream and a mesmerizing hum. She soon discovered that she wasn't the only young patient to gain special powers due to their treatments. This was courtesy of Dr. Elliott Vanderpool, aka the Genomancer. He planned on training the teens to act as his strike force to lead the way to his plans of a world of genetic perfection under his control. Thankfully they were able to break free from his control and defeat the mad doctor. The group then banded together as the Free Radicals(Kickback, Re-Pete, Fourfront, Diamondhide and Outreach). However May clashed with her slightly older teammates as they embraced a life of celebrity, and partying as opposed to heroics and proper moral behavior. She left the group and operated solo for a couple of months before an encounter with Ren the Space Weasel had her crossing paths with the mid 90s roster of the Righteous Teens. Kid Pureheart offered her membership and she happily accepted.

One name that keeps appearing in the team is Righteous Kid. Originally this was Righteous Lad, but after pairing up with Righteous Man and then concerns about what the latter was doing as well as wanting to keep the name in house, it was changed to Righteous Kid. This also allowed either boys or girls to have the name. A common factor has always been that Ren the Space Weasel likes provoking those using the name Righteous and seeing if they will lose it. This has lead to some post holders having short stays and rather bad publicity which the backers of the team find vexing.

The current Righteous Kid is Jose Rivera who is very careful what he says but he also makes a point of showing that he has no tattoos to illustrate gang affiliation. Despite the reluctance of some of the backers who prefer W.A.S.P. candidates, Jose is viewed very favourably. Jose is a speedster with slightly enhanced strength.

Kid Pureheart has been a regular on the team for almost four years now. He's actually the third person to have taken up the name and power set - the ability to manipulate "pure light" to flash, blast or even laser villains. Kim Allen Douglas is actually the son of the Kid Pureheart of the 1980s, and nephew of the Kid Pureheart of the 1990s, but this is not widely known, and many outside the team speculate that Kid Pureheart is some kind of immortal, clone or robot. Others note that some of these are ridiculous, since all of the Kids Pureheart have visibly aged while with the team.

The source of al of their powers is a piece of alien technology. It bonds to the back of the wearer, and cannot be removed without their permission - but once removed, it cannot be reattached. More importantly, it only works when the wearer is completely and unquestionably sure they are doing the right thing - making Kid Pureheart useless in situations of moral or ethical ambiguity. There does seem to be an override for this - the second Kid Pureheart was able to command operations by sheer willpower, an act the current holder has never been able to replicate. It was only during this period that Kid Pureheart, despite often being called the heart of the team, was allowed to lead it.

This has caused more than a small amount of family friction. Kim's father has become an evangelistic preacher, and Kim follows that path, while his uncle Mike is a notably progressive head of a charity group. Of late, Kim has been wondering if the strictures of his belief are what have prevented him from making the breakthrough Mike did.

Kim is also almost 18, the age when both his father and uncle bowed out of the role, and his maturing mentality and conscience are making it increasingly difficult to use his powers at all. Plus, in a recent encounter with Ren the Space Weasel Kim found himself swayed by the villain's positions and arguments.. The obvious replacement is Mike's 12 year old daughter, but both Kim and his father question the suitability of a girl Kid Pureheart. Mike is insistant, though, and Laura wants the position. The decision is Kim's to make, and he has not yet decided.

1966. Space is the final frontier. In the battle to be the first to the moon, the winner was Gabe Gaddy, a 12 yr old prodigy who designed his own transport system he called the Boomer. Gaddy with the use of the boomer and other technology he designed has served on every generation of the team from the first day until its last years in the future while remaining a teenager the whole time.

Gaddy accomplished this by using the boomer's temporal effects to move up and down the time stream while remaining the same age in transit, essentially only aging when he appears to help his team out of their current problem.

Gabe Gaddy was known far and wide as Astro Boy until he disappeared for the last time

I'll go ahead and add another member since it is up in the air whether this team is continuing or not.

Steel Squire

Reggie Manchester was the sidekick to his uncle Archie aka the Power Paladin. Archie sacrificed his life when he used the overloading power core in his armor to create an explosion that closed the transverse gate used by the Vexxons to invade our universe in 1983. Reggie was welcomed to the Righteous Teens and found it provided a surrogate family since his uncle was his last living relative. He was proud to serve with teammates who shared the same morals his uncle had passed down to him. Upon graduating from the team he adopted the Power Paladin name crafting an upgraded suit of armor with help from  RT teammates Toy Boy and the Techno Twins

Mighty Mike

Michael Chavers was one of the great 'what ifs ?' of the team. Charismatic, strong and dependable, he joined the team aged 14 and seemed destined for a long career but he was killed just shy of his 20th birthday. Attempts to smear his name in the aftermath of his death brought experienced heroes from across the country in and they uncovered a deliberate plot to murder Mike and destroy his memory. He was given what amounted to a State funeral followed by some severely put out heroes, superheroes, vigilantes and law enforcement officials giving crime a very hard time.

Genesis

James Pashone was one of the founding members of the Righteous Teens. He started out as the kid sidekick of Dynamic, a low level brick/speedster who is now almost completely forgotten - his one time protege having far outshone the older hero. Genesis' abilities to summon semi-autonomous "spirits" to fight or work lead to him being accused of satanic powers or witchcraft, a distressing turn of events for the devout, conservatively religious young man, and he sought to show his true colors by forming a team of righteous and upright young people - a goal that was ultimately fulfilled.

Genesis left the team when he turned 19, choosing to concentrate on his studies, and eventually entered a fairly prestigious seminary. Last year, a large number of members and ex-members of the group got together at his home to celebrate his retirement party at the age of 69.

NEW GROUP: Five people with one foot in the darkness seek to prove that dark is not evil as Pentacle.

This is from an old COH conversions I did a while back.

This is in Hero format!

Background/History: Penelope Ogilvie is your quintessential English young lady. She went to public school, got good grades and looked ready to head into the family business. Which was not very legal. Problem was she hated the life. Her family had become wealthy enough that they could go legitimate. But they were enamoured of the life-style. Then came the Event, when (insert villain) tried to bring an eternal night to the nearby city as a stepping stone to more power. Unfortunately he over extended himself and when the device stopped working he was defeated. But it had an effect on Penelope. Latent powers of darkness and the mind awakened in her. Now she had the power to step away from her family and use her powers to help people that take from them. Only her brother, now a member of (insert evil villain agency) disagreed, and hunts her to try and bring her back into the fold. He doesn’t realize it is a lost cause. Obsidian likes he new life.

Personality/Motivation: Penelope is a curious young lady who wants to make up for all her family’s crimes. That her powers allow her to sneak around effectively, and she has a skill set for getting into places and areas, and she makes for an effective starting investigator. She realizes she needs more skills and is working on trying to find someone to train her!

Quote: If I’m careful, they’ll never notice me.

Powers/Tactics: Obsidian’s powers are a combination of mental powers and darkness. She has a dark shield that gives her protection and allows her to levitate. It also can be extended to darken an area with extra shadows to make it harder to see her (think a dark fog effect). Her other abilities are mental attack that have a visible dark manifestation. Her favourite is the Presence of the Night as it can scare opponents away if she does it right. But she’s not afraid of lashing out with what she thinks will work best.

Campaign Use: A young hero with ties to a criminal life she is trying to leave behind. I am sure you can think of something.

Appearance: Pale peaches and cream complexion and blonde hair, she is 165 cm and 68 KG. Her costume consists of a pair of leggings (dark grey) and a loose top (same) with a dark hood under which she hides her hair.

It is a bit difficult for me to do a hero for a group called the Pentacle as they were the big bad guys in the original campaign. Anyway

The whole point of Darkrazor was a shadowy figure with a full face mask that came out of the shadows and tore people to ribbons with sharp claws. Mark Crane was selected to wear the suit as he was the most evil of the twins although his twin Charles actually did not do anything wrong. Mark drank, took drugs and beat people up. People had plans for Mark and he was trained to fight in the suit and to overcome locks and security systems. He would be a great spy and assassin. His debut was planned with precision to attack a local politician who was stirring up trouble and that is when things went wrong.

A demonstration blocked the way to the target so the organisation sent in some boys to break up the crowd and crack some skulls. And that is when Darkrazor appeared and attacked the thugs instead.

He would shred their clothing and weapons with the claws and in front of the crowd he took them down without killing anyone but it did terrify the thugs. After they fled Darkrazor disappeared into the city and began a campaign of terror against drug dealers and other criminals.

Other members of the Pentacle heard about the mysterious figure waging war on street crime and confronted him after watching what he was doing. They offered him a berth and he joined.

The organisation believes that Charles took the suit and as he was a Batman fan has just done what his hero would have done. The Pentacle also believe that it is Charles and that Mark is either looking for revenge or is in rehab. They are both wrong. Darkrazor is Mark and what has happened to Charles is unknown. Mark has had something done to his mind to blur telepathy and mind control. He is fighting crime but having gone to the dark side knows exactly what it is like. so he can save others.

Darkrazor is the detective and martial artist of the group

Vulgore

A demonic entity summoned to this plane by the dark sorcerer A'tep Amon who served his new master as a tool of destruction and death. He was vanquished, along with Amon by the Convocation in Light.  Morgan Ravenscraft removed the runes of control from Vulgore's flesh and made an attempt to reason with the beast. Shockingly this worked and he became reformed. He has joined Pentacle to try and make up for his evil deeds and perhaps earn some form of redemption. He has curbed his more savage instincts, but still makes an extremely formidable foe with his vast strength and nearly indestructible nature. Naturally the public has yet to embrace what amounts to a red scaly skinned horned demon playing hero. Therefore he stays out of view as much as possible and operates against evil in the shadows.

Kid Vampire

This woman is the poster child for the group. She is a vampire that fights on the side of good but does love hamming it up with 'I never drink .....wine' 'I am Kid Vampire and I bid you welcome to beautiful downtown Burbank' 'Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make ! Rap should never be played in the daylight' and other famous misquotes from vampire movies.

She is wary of fire, can be staked through the heart (but she can come back from that) and direct sunlight and beheading can kill her. Silver bullets cannot kill her but a silver sword or axe could behead her..

She has no reflection and casts no shadow. Holy symbols presented by those with faith can drive her off.

She can mesmerise with her gaze and is quite strong. It is not known whether she can turn into a bat or a wolf but she can scale buildings.

As she does not show up in photographs she employs an artist to show her in places

She appears as a woman about 18-19 years of age with pale skin. She varies her hair colour and length and also her eye colour.

She is also in contact with various of the good aligned hero groups as she does not want to be destroyed but may have to be if she is turned to evil. She maintains contacts with the local Rabbis, Christian churches and Mosques to stop religious violence and attacks against the faith even though that would give her strength.

Darth Carna

Since 2001, tens of thousands of people have identified themselves as "Jedi" when filling out the religion sections of various census forms. There's even a Temple of the Jedi Order with tax-exempt status in the US.

Some people take it more seriously than others.  Some way too seriously.

One of those was an obsessive fangirl and avid cosplayer who was outraged with the canon interpretation that said Jedi /couldn't love/, that love was an emotion that led to the Dark Side.   Well, then, she reasoned, the Dark Side can't be evil.  She set out to prove that.

Darth Carna is a slight young lady wearing a full-coverage hooded robe and face mask, all in black, and loose but for the wrists and gloves, she apparently wears some sort of boots and leggings under the robe, as well. Her costume is apparently made of ballistic cloth & insulated to provide a little protection against firearms and other deadly weapons, and her mask is equipped with efficient filters.  She wields a black carbon-fibre bo-staff as a weapon, lightsaber crystals being sadly unavailable on backwater distant-future worlds like Earth.  She displays impressive acrobatic and martial arts abilities, and if it stopped there, she'd just be a relatively harmless nut.

However, she also has mental powers, minor telepathy & mind-control, and significant telekinetic powers, she uses to appear to perform feats of great strength, including being able to leap and levitate nearly to the point of flying, as well as to strangle enemies from a distance and lift or hurl modest-sized objects, like busses.    She also claims precognition and can heal life-threatening injuries at a touch in less than a minute.

The last two were actually her primary form of heroism until she joined Pentacle.   She would intuit when a deadly act of violence or accident would occur, make her way to the vicinity, and either prevent it or heal any of the victims she could.

When she gets the chance she rails against the moral bankruptcy of the Jedi's 'ancient religion.'

"Come to the Dark Side:  we have Love."

Sorry, I apparently forgot how to count!

Maybe if I had been forced to watch  E/I programming on Saturday mornings, instead of Isis or Land o/t Lost, I wouldn't be making mistakes like that.

The Informers are 4 young-adult heroes whose powers all tie into STEM topics (1 for each).  They're quick to give interviews, especially right after a battle, in which they try to educate & inform their young fans, and get them interested in careers in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics.

Remember, some demograpghics are underrepresented in STEM fields, so membership in the team takes a variety of factors into account.

Be sure to give an example of how they riff off a dramatic use of a power to educate & inform their fans (who are meant to be grade-schoolers).

Vector Rainbow

VR (yes, she is well aware of the initials) is an astrophysicist by trade. She was involved in an experiment, an attempt to model the inside of a star. She was at the ground zero of a "superpower event" that empowered at least four other people as well.

Her real name is Raquel Washington, and she makes no effort to hide it. She has the power to create light constructs in the form of skeletonized structures, vector lines and beams, both solid and laser in nature. Her riff is to start with a line of white light, and then slowly break it down by colour until she has a complete rainbow hanging in the air.

Raquel is African-American, and she loves going to inner-city schools and less privileged areas like the one she came from. Her family is very proud of her, though she's gotten a certain pushback from extended family, who aren't sure about the whole "rainbow" thing.

Math Man !

This hero is a mentalist. He projects mathematical formulae into people which acts like an ego blast, it can also act as an illusion so that they do not notice their surroundings which is useful for a team mate to get close to them. Bombarding a robot with mathematical formulae can overload and shut them down which Math Man ! was delighted to  discover. It can also work as a mind control 'Flee or suffer more math questions'.

He can explain after a battle how he used maths to defeat the enemies.
