The King of Cats moves in and out of the urban jungle like a shadow. Nothing escapes his keen golden gaze. No ledge is too high, no hole too small, no barrier too thick for him to get around. And his furry followers are right there helping him.

Too bad he's a tabby named Fauntleroy

The Leo of the group.

The Swimmer In Shadows, "Shady" to its teammates, is a mysterious figure who can dive to the greatest depths, see in the blackest ink cloud, and never leaves the water in daylight. Only Capricorn has ever met Shady face-to-face, and vouches for the creature, despite the faint aura of "wrongness" people feel when the swimmer is near. Indeed, the Pisces member of the Zodiac is an enigma and it likes it that way. No one (except Capricorn) must ever know that it is a renegade Deep One, sworn to protect humanity from its kin and their mad gods.

Presently, the Zodiac is without an Aries, but tryouts are underway.

That's twelve, so the next team up is...

The Fat Man, so named because he possess as much atomic destructive energy as the infamous bomb that destroyed Nagasaki, is in cryo-slumber deep in a hidden bunker somewhere in New Mexico. For national security's sake, his real name has been stricken from records everywhere. If he has family, they're in hiding.

He didn't go into cryo-slumber willingly. His now ex-wife sold him out to the military, thinking his abilities needed to be used on behalf of the US whether he liked it or not. His young daughter has been told he died a hero's death in Iraq. They give her monthly check-ups...

Donald Carlson, The Blot, discovered his power while traveling through White Sands. He only has the one power, but since he can turn into a black hole that sucks in everything around him, it makes him one of the most dangerous people on Earth.

He hates using the power since it can destroy a city in a matter of seconds.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

You don't remember White Plains Arizona do you ? Felix Arundman does.

You will not find it on any map but what you will find is a large area of dead ground. No living thing plant or animal for miles just dust.

You don't remember The Adversity do you and how his power ran out of control ? Felix Arundman does. Felix tried to stop The Adversity and gained superpowers which were then boosted to unheard of levels. During the battle Felix drained the lifeforce from every living thing in a 10 mile radius and erased the Adversity from reality.

He also erased all knowledge of White Plains from people, maps and all records. Felix gave himself up after that. He can't control the power and it is frighteningly dangerous.

He mourns alone the people he knew, worked with and loved.

The Army keeps him sedated and off the books.

They have a recording of what happened at White Plains and want to ensure it never happens again. Several people who have tried to use Felix as a weapon have died, violent horrible deaths before they even got near him and Felix remains in a troubled sleep.

Little Bear

-Even a man who is pure of heart

and says his prayers by night

May become a beast when the wolfsbane blooms

and the hunter's moon is bright-

Brokke Kiljoy was the "Little Bear", a lycanthropic member of the hero team Storm Force, from the Twin Cities. As a were-badger, she was the team's brickette -- capable of changing at will into her animal form or into a disturbing quasi-human hybrid. This might not seem like the most impressive of were-forms, but the thick-pelted, long-clawed, ferocious and short-tempered badger is essentially a low-slung, muscular torpedo with teeth and claws, able to get under or through many obstacles...especially since this Little Bear's claws could dig through concrete.

In her human form, Brokke was an attractive woman in her 40s, short and muscular, with brindled gray hair and brown eyes. But on the nights immediately before and after the full moon, Brokke was compelled to assume her badger form for the entire night -- and on the night of the full moon, she was primal and no longer rational; a rabid "little bear" in truth. The one ameliorating factor was that Little Bear's version of lycanthropy was transmitted genetically, through inheritance; Brokke was not contagious, even if she drew blood in her badger form.

Brokke was old enough and experienced enough with her lycanthropy that the moon's imperative wasn't much more than an inconvenience for her and her team -- until Storm Force encountered a villainous blaster calling herself "Selene", who proved to in fact have a mystical connection with the moon. Her bolts of moonlight drove Little Bear first into her hybrid form and then into her beast-form -- and then into her rabid, primal "full moon" form.

Hammer and Anvil (Storm Force's big brick and his telekinetic, force wall-creating partner), two of Little Bear's teammates, had to drag the raging badger off Selene. They finally succeeded, but not before she -- and they -- had sustained extensive damage from the were-badger's teeth and claws. Little Bear, now apparently beyond reason in her berserk beast-form, was contained in the Storm Force lab, and Hammer, Anvil and Selene were hospitalised in critical condition. And on the first night of the full moon all three changed...changed into berserk, blood-thirsty badgers, just as if it were the night of the full moon.

And Brokke Kiljoy changed back into her human form.

With the setting of the moon, all three recovered their human forms...but those they injured (those who survived, that is) the previous night showed no sign of developing the contagion. According to ancient Scandinavian tradition, it seemed that Hammer, Anvil and Selene were all now "moon brok", were-badgers that would rage all three nights of the full moon, but could not contaminate others with their version of lycanthropy.

But the sudden appearance of three new were-badgers was not the reason Little Bear demanded containment in cold sleep. All too soon, she realised that Selene's powers had done more than just release her raging beast-side; they had reversed the rhythm of her lycanthropy so that she would now be human only on the three nights of the full moon -- and a berserk, raging blood-beast on every other night. She would be completely out-of-control -- and now she was contagious.

"I ought to change my name to 'Vector'", Little Bear commented bitterly. "Just swear you'll keep a muzzle on the other three while I'm...away."

Nicknamed Terror by the media, when he sleeps he subconsciously taps into the minds of those around him and creates psionic constructs of their greatest fear. These constructs are lethal, as Timothy's family learned the hard way. He was taken into government custody shortly after and was placed in suspended animation until doctors could find a way to help him.

Okay, that's five so new team.

When Kohaku Nomo turned 16 he found out he was the latest in his family to be the guardian of a powerful magical water creature: The Kappa! This particular Kappa has been bound to serve Kohaku's family for centuries. It's a bit of a curmudgeon and complains a lot about serving a "mere human". To be fair, this is actually mellow for it. When it was first bound by Kohaku's ancestors, it would rage and swear it would one day destroy the Nomo family. Over the centuries, the Kappa has grown less antagonistic...

...at least, Kohaku just HOPES the Kappa is less antagonistic and isn't trying to swerve him one day.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Go Squad are five Japanese government agents trained to fight as a unit, and given special powered armor. Each suit on its own isn't that impressive, but when two of the agents combine their suits, the combined suit has double the power. Three armors combined has quadruple the power, four combined octuple the power, and when all five of them form into one gigantic armor, it has sixteen times the power of an individual suit. By judicious combining and separating, Go Squad always has the right amount of firepower for the Shinsengumi's needs.

There's nothing he can't do as long as she believes in him.

He is Shinji Ogo. He is Wa.

A proud graduate of Japan's Ground Self-Defense Forces' Special Forces Group, Shinji has received extensive training in counter-terrorism -- particularly in close quarters combat. Though an exceptional martial artist, Shinji's passion is for mission success rather than perfect kicks and punches. Mission success, Shinji believes, is achieved through planning, training, and unit cohesion. It is in this last factor that Shinji really shines.

So long as Shinji is able to communicate with his team members they all receive bonuses to any actions that require coordination. More than once Shinsengumi has taken on a foe or obstacle that could only be overcome by combining their powers, skills and knowledge -- by working together in harmony. Wa.

The hero known as Eternal Sun is probably the most outspokenly nationalistic member of Shinsengumi, displaying an intense pride in his country and disdain for most other countries. He is especially disdainful of the United States, which he blames for polluting his nation's rich culture, and will actively hinder any American superhero seeking Shinsengumi's help. His costume is red and white, emblazoned as the "rising sun" with the silhouette of the Japanese islands inside the red circular sun.

Eternal Sun is able to absorb light and heat, and then project that light and heat in any way he can imagine, including propelling himself through the air.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Quick question. Does Go Squad count as one character or five ?

The team needed to have a Samurai to feed the national stereotype, right ? Well what it got was something quite unexpected. On one mission broke a painting that an opponent was trying to use against him as an improvised weapon. A mist sprang from the remains and despite the efforts of Shinsengumi it vanished. Some days later a Samurai warrior appeared complete with banner and horse, except the horse was a Ki-Rin. The Samurai gave a letter to the government representative and was allowed to join the team. However they did not speak at all. Their proficiency with weapons seemed adequate until one of the first combats with paranormals when the Samurai was able to deflect blasts of energy either with weapons or seemingly to cut the blast in half. They were also able to ride out blows from bricks that would have killed a normal person or disabled a paranormal. However they did suffer injury that required medical attention and that was when the other mmbers of the team found out that their colleague was a woman.

This did not sit well with Eternal Sun but the woman wrote a challenge. If he could defeat her then she would leave. If he could not then he would accept it. Despite what the others tried to do Eternal Sun accepted. The duel should have been one sided as the Samurai stood against Eternal Sun without armour or weapons just a martial arts unform. When he shot her she just stood and took it and nothing happened. She simply bowed. So to Sun's chagrin the Samurai is a member.

Known to the media as Sword of the Emporer, the Samurai clings to traditions; Ancestor worship and honour being the main ones but she writes on paper never a typewriter or a computer. The Ki-Rin appears occasionally but not often.

She is proficient with most fuedal era weapons but can break guns or blasters with a precise strike.

She has a hatred of the Yakuza and then anyone who does not act honourably. She does not use modern technology whether phones or radioes, cameras or computers.

She tends to back up Wa if not ordered or asked to do anything else.

The team have noted that Mind Control and Telepathy have little or no effect on her at all but a mental blast would still affect her.

The team are investigating just what that painting was as they have seen the mist emanate from her on a couple of missions although it did not go far. As far as official records go her fingerprints and picture are not on file so apparantly she does not exist.

She and Eternal Sun have a Hate/Hate relationship. He will upbraid her in front of the team and she will unmask (if wearing her armour) and raise an eyebrow and seemingly shake her head in disgust at him.

She understands other languages like several types of Chinese, Korean, French and Russian. She has some trouble understanding English.

She has no problem with foreigners with one exception. She sees tattooes she automatically thinks Yakuza.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

It's a Power Rangers spoof so i go with it. That it is one member is fine.

Oh and The Samurai is avoiding Sword of the Emporer. He knows more than the team do about her and the Ki-Rin but he won't even discuss this with his team mates so fat chance he talk to the Japanese Government.

Once one of Japan's hottest pop stars and really cool guys Hideko Nakajima is a surprising member of the team. He had it all but it all imploded. If you have ever seen Godzilla Final Wars the young alien chief at the end was based on Hideko. He knows it and is not happy about it but has openly said 'I deserved it'. He was luckier than some others where people died or were so mired in corruption and controversy that any sort of comeback is impossible. How he got superpowers is not known and the Government keeps it under wraps. The theory that keeps coming up is that he spent all his money to have it done on the black market or that the Yakuza gave him a poison that was supposed to kill him and it backfired. Hideko has some minor brick abilities and can glide a short distance if he comes off a sufficient height. He actually uses his real name as most people can recognise him and his voice is distinctive. He has contacts and with a smile or a hand shake can usually get people to at least treat him and the group with leniency. Part of this is to do with footage of him being berated about by people he let down and then saying they were right and at the time he was an idiot and he apologised which he had previously laughed off when he was a J Pop star. Part of it is also the fact that he jumped into the way and took bullets and energy damage that would have killed ordinary people and this also was caught on camera. He's Hideko, he's not country wide and he's trying to rebuild his bad boy rep. His toy is one of the best selling of the team but then people spend time destroying it. Similarly with posters of him. Hideko knows and is upset but some of the money goes to charities so he said, 'Let them do it'.

How did he get the powers ? The Yakuza stole an experimental serum from the govt and was chased from the laboratory so closely that they could not switch the serum out or pass it on. During a pursuit down a dark alley who stumbled drunkenly out of a club but Hideko ? And who in the ensuing tumble and fight got the full effect of the serum ? Hideko. who for once in his life listened to senior figures and the government ? Hideko. The whole capturing him on film was accidental. Hideko is genuinely repentant but some of the Japanese media set out to prove it was a sham and discovered it was not. The saving the civilians bit is true is well. He just did it, he reacted without thinking. He did not know there were cameras there. This streak of something decent has endeared him to his bosses and to the rest of the team, even Eternal Sun who has reprimanded him in public and private

She's a mousy little thing, so it's no surprise that she goes by Squeak. Being small and of very average appearance, Squeak is overlooked by most people. She's awkward and uncomfortable in any situation where she has to speak up or show any lady-like behavior. Ah, but get her into a garage and she's in her element.

Squeak can fix just about any vehicle ever made. Give her a new one and she'll have it stripped, pondered over, and reversed engineered before you can say . . . well, I guess you could say an awful lot. It takes her at least a week to reverse engineer really wild (new or alien) technology. But, heck, it's impressive anyway, right?

Squeak's main contribution to Shinsengumi is to create new wild vehicles and mecha. Give her an idea -- "Hey, Squeak, have you ever thought about making a manta ray mecha?" -- and she's off and inventing. Squeak sometimes pilots her creations, sometimes makes them for others to pilot, and occasionally creates simple-minded automatons.

Taifun is the daughter of a powerful nature spirit and a mortal man, with some control over wind, rain and general stormy conditions. Using these effects over a small area is simple enough, but the wider an area she attempts to cover, the more likely the weather is to run out of Taifun's control and run wild. She's actually in the Shinsengumi for her own protection--it seems her mother was quite the prankster in her youth, and managed to tick off half the supernatural beings in Japan, and not a few outside it. These beings are only too glad to target their enemy's daughter for anything from a return pranking to slow torture and murder.

Taifun gets along well with Kappa, but not the water goblin's handler, who she thinks has the hots for her, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Hinokami claims he is of divine heritage, but the truth is he's a powerful mutant with the ability to conjure and control fire. He likes to show off and is a notorious flirt, much to the rest of the team's collective embarrassment. He's also considers Hikage Kamen of Nekketsu Yuusha-tachi his bitter rival even while being sent to the States. For his part, Hikage Kamen has never even met Hinokami and has no idea about any sort of rivalry.

Team name: Vigilance Inc.

Number: Though they make use of numerous non-powered anonymous contacts and connections in law enforcement, the media, the CIA and the FBI, Vigilance Inc. is made up of a core of 9. Due to member losses, the line-up changes, but it always stays at 9.

Motive/Theme: For those who delve into a Rust Age "anti-hero" mentality or have fond memories of how folks like Dirty Harry got the job done. Vigilance Inc. is willing to get blood on their hands to see justice done. While a majority of law enforcement agencies and legitimate superheroes consider them no better than criminals themselves, Vigilance Inc. has secret support from more than a few at their breaking-point police. A few members of SWAT have even looked the other way when they realize Vigilance Inc. is involved in a case and a frustrated Zealot of the Owls of Athena keeps pushing for her teammates to be more like them. Meanwhile, the Guardian Angels keeps a cautious eye on them in case they're open for conversion and recruitment for later...

They follow strict guidelines.

1. The innocent must be protected and property damage must be kept to a minimum. However, in some cases, Vigilance Inc. has been known to "preemptively tie up loose ends" in case the relatives, friends &/or associates of a deceased target look to be serious about seeking revenge. One such "loose end" was 15 years old, though he had a criminal record for assault.

2. All potential cases and clients will be investigated thoroughly yet equally. Vigilance Inc. doesn't like to be played as fools, especially if someone tries to use them as hit men. After everything has been investigated, the case will be voted on. A majority means the case will be undertook. No one is to play lone wolf.

3. Though they charge a fee, clients will be asked to pay a fair price within their means. A inner-city youth trying to stop the drug lord taking over the neighborhood is just as valid as a wealthy businessman looking to avenge his wife's death. One case (possibly non-existent) even had a child pay the team with her beloved teddy bear in order to stop her stepfather from abusing her and her mother. The team claims they did the job, then returned the bear.

4. Death before dishonor, death before capture, death before betrayal. Any member of Vigilance Inc. is willing to die to protect the secrecy of the team and the client. One deceased member (the founder Redjack actually) managed to take his own life in such a way that also exposed and ruined three corrupt cops.

Marine Sgt Ted Krauwski should not be alive. The only one of the unit to return, he was shipped back to the States from Afghanistan while ugly rumours circulated that Captain Haskell or Lt Steve Meyers had acted without orders and cost the lives of their men and themselves. If if were not for paranormal intervention Ted would never have reached the States as someone wanted him dead. Ted did not go to Washington, he went to Langley. The CIA gave him all the information he needed and then the Sgt went after those responsible. He killed them all; from the people who leaked the information to those who were covering it up. He was without mercy. Then the CIA introduced him to Vigilance Inc and left it at that.

The Sgt still wears fatigues and maintains a military discipline. He looks like a soldier but the uniform won't give you a clue to which army he is now in. He can use any weapon that he Corps used or uses and he can drive a truck but not an AFV or a Tank.

He goes by the name Gunny but responds to Sarge. He knows some unarmed combat but can take an awful level of punishment before he goes unconscious or has to pull back.

As to the clients woe betide the person or people who mess with the Navy, AirForce, Army, Coast Guard, Marine or Police personnel. Gunny really has a sore spot for that although the same applies to the Fire Brigade and Paramedics/Ambulance crews. But if you hurt a nurse then Gunny will make you a priority and you will not do it again. Ever.

Gunny knows his strengths and weaknesses and follows orders but always asks, 'Are you absolutely sure your INTEL is right ?'
