The Movement

 

Named after fidel Castro's original revolutionary force The Movement is Cuba's superpowered defense team and has existed in one form or another since the revolution. please give me the current line up.

Supreme Soviet

 

When the USSR became Russia one of the main superpowered individuals who worked for the State fled to Cuba. He has been there ever since and volunteered to serve The Movement in any capacity. He has reduced ageing, some super strength and some invulnerability. He has no problem giving or taking orders and lives among the people or in a barracks rather than having a palatial residence. He wears his hammer and sickle emblem with pride but is fearful of the future.

In 1963 the Soviet Union gifted the Cuban people one of their first power Armour suits. Named by fidel himself as The Iron guardian of the revolution Given both as a consolation for the Cuban missile crisis and as a defense against the United States growing superhuman presence. For the next 30 years a combination of the the National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers (ANIR a group of revolutionary-minded scientists and mechanics) and occasional hand me downs from the Soviets would keep the iron guardian operational and capable of holding it's own in the world of powered armored heros.

 

This came to an end in 1991 with the collapse of the Soviet and the so-called "The Special Period in the Time of Peace,” despite the collapse of the economy and the American embargo.

 

The ANIR kept the iron guardian running the current pilot Héctor Francisco de Albear is the grandson of the first pilot he keeps iron guardian running with jury rigged soviet parts salvaged consumer electronics and a fair amount of spit and bailing wire.

 

Iron Guardian is a hulking over engineered combat suit it has the heavy duty sturdiness of Soviet military equipment but jigsawed with parts from other machines chrome trim from 50s cars and Skoda and Yugo door panels.

 

The clunky early electronics have been partially upgraded with cell phones and bits of old laptops.

Blanc Grande patrols the waters around Cuba, He focuses on smugglers coming into the island nation rather than people fleeing to the US. People trying to get anything to the nation not approved by the government was more dangerous than people leaving and never wanting to come back.

 

Blanc Grande has also worked with the US Coast Guard and Navy to deal with emergencies at sea.

La Dama de la isla

 

The guardian spirit of the island from well before Columbus.  She protects the island first and foremost, not necessarily the island's government.  As truthfully she despises the revolutionary Communist even more than she hated the Spaniards (both of whom came during her occasional hibernating periods, ironically) but she faithfully goes about her duties.  She appears as a Native American woman in her early 20s with long waist-length hair.  Though her clothes tend to somewhat keep up with the times.

 

Officially, the government claims it is a young woman taking on the mantle, rather than an immortal spirit.

Plantación is a mutant with the ability to not only control plants; he can also move from tree to tree even over great distances (including across continents), and see and hear what is going on in the vicinity of any plant or plant product.  (So to him, a cigar is not just a cigar.)  While he's far from the most powerful member of The Movement in combat, his treewalking ability and plant senses have come in very handy.

The Rocky Mountain Rangers are based out of Denver, Colorado, though they've operated in neighboring states as well.  Who are these 6 heroes? (Thematically, members should relate to either Rocky, Mountain, Ranger, or Colorado.)

Mountain Man is huge, hairy, and closely attuned to nature. He can read the wind, speak with the trees, and direct the efforts of wild animals. Ordinarily something of a hermit, he will emerge from the wilderness where the wilderness perceives a great injustice.

High-guy.

 

Harold Marin loved weed originally illegally when legalization happened he was one of the first to transition to legal growing.

 

Harold was an expert grower and experimented with a variety of hybrid strains.

 

His life totally changed when a old friend a straight edge urban Explorer brought him a gift a weird mutant cannabis plant he had found growing in abandoned building near Rocky flats plant a former nuclear weapons plant shut down in raids by the FBI and EPA due to illegal environmental contamination.

 

Harold tested the plant and discovered a truly phenomenal amount of thc in the samples. He just had to try it loading up his vaporizer he settled in for a good high.

 

Harold unfortunately hadn't done a full chemical analysis if he had he would have realized that not only did the plant have very high THC levels there where a lot of previously unknown chemicals in the mix. Harold's high was a lot more intense than an old hand would expect.

 

Harold woke up 8 hours later 50 miles from Denver on the top of the 2000ft tall Hoyt radio tower. With no idea how he got there. He had had strange dreams hallucinations and a feeling like flying.

 

When he eventually got back to his grow on he found all traces of the mysterious plant gone.

 

Over the next few days Harold experienced weird side effects moments when he hallucinated floating above the ground times when he tried smoking again and everyone around him seem to get just as mellow.

 

Eventually Harold realized the truth the mysterious weed had given him super powers.

 

Harold is now HIGH-GUY THE CANNABIS CRUSADER. He has the power of flight though quite slow and gentle he can also generate a field that allows him to give people what he calls a contact high. Either mellowing them out and making them sleepy.

 

He can also make them hyperactive or paranoid though mellow and sleepy is his go too. He is also a bit tougher and stronger than a normal person.

 

He works promoting legal weed and helps fund the team through his network of dispensaries.

Boulder

 

Yeah it's cliche big guy made of stone the team brick damage sponge and heavy hitter but Dr Richard "rocky" stone PhD is more than just dumb muscle. A world class mineral and geologist he's earned a small fortune from his days as a freelance oil and gas prospector. Rocky got his powers when he discovered a peculiar stone ring whilst mapping a newly discovered cavern system in Guatemala . The ring is strange constantly shifting to match the nearest large stone deposit. Rocky as Boulder has the ability to mimic any type of stone he touches. He usually carries a small piece of granite or schist for toughness but often mimics local stone for camouflage.

 

In rock form the Boulder is a vaguely humanoid lump of rock standing over 8 feet tall and 6 wide he has trouble using doors and most floors will not support him. strangely the magic Does not affect his senses which is both good because a giant earless pile of stone shouldn't be able to hear but is awkward because Dr Stone is quite short sighted and has to wear special prescription goggles(lack of ears again) in his heroic form.

 

 

 

 

His transformation has the unfortunate effect of destroying whatever he is wearing at the time so he tends to carry a satchel which converts into s and a utility belt containing a very compact change of clothes and few items of equipment he can use in Boulder form mostly it just makes him feel less naked.

 

In his human form he is a well built and athletic figure with weather worn skin a heavy tan from his years of field work. His glasses and leather fedora have seen him compared to a certain fictional archeologist.

 

Dr Stone is a regular guest lecturer at the Colorado school of mines one of the country's best engineering schools and often leads field expeditions of students from the school. When not busy superheroing.

The Coloramando is a stealth expert and skilled commando that uses his ability to blend in any background by changing his colors to his advantage. His ability also acts against special vision powers and mechanical aids.

Telluride

 

 

James Algernon Teller was born in a small cabin during a massive snow storm in 1884. His father was a legendary Texas Ranger wounded in action he'd retired to a small town in Colorado and got married.

 

 

James was a precious child and extremely intelligent. In 1889 while shopping with his mother he was there when Butch Cassidy robbed San Miguel Valley Bank it was his first major crime.

 

 

James was extremely intelligent and had exceeded what the local schoolhouse could teach by 11 he studied at the town library during the day and became fascinated in electric power due to the Westinghouse hydroelectric plant. He started hanging around the work site acting as a runner gopher and mascot for the site crew.

 

 

By 15 the plant was up and running and james was working as a part time engineer. Someone saw his potential and with the help of Lucien L. Nunn the plant owner he was sent out west on a scholarship first to a top prep school and then to cornell University.

 

 

At 19 he already had his bachelor degree. He returned to Colorado to work with Nikola Tesla at his new lab in Colorado Springs.

 

 

He worked with Tesla for two years until he hot terrible news has father had been gunned down while attempting to stop a bar fight.

 

 

James rushed back to Telluride his father was gut shot it took him days to die and James stayed with him throughout his final hours.

 

 

James wanted revenge constructing an lightning projecting rifle and electromagnetic defense shield he hunted down the man who killed his father and brought him to justice.

 

 

He discovered he loved the work. James became a bounty Hunter and gun for hire using the funds to pay for his own research.

 

 

Working from a secret lab in an abandoned silver mine nicknamed The Telluride sentinel and the electric kid. He fought weird science and supernatural threats across the West for several years. During an experiment with matter transmission in 1906 his lab was hit by an aftershock from the great earthquake that struck San Francisco.

 

 

James was trapped in the transmission buffer of his experimental transporter for 110 years. Only when a spelunking grad student discovered the caved in lab.

 

 

And triggered his resurrection. Now Telluride is a man out of time an old West gunslinger trying to catch up with a Century of scientific advancement.

He has upgraded his lightning gun and force shield and is a full time super hero.

 

 

Surprisingly he is very wealthy having inherited his own fortune (passed to his cousins after his disappearance) after the death of his last living relative.

Continental Centurion and the First Thirteen.

 

Active since the revolutionary war the continental centurion has been the top field operative of the culper ring.

 

It wasn't until the second world War and the rise of the costumed mystery man that the centurion was made public knowledge.

 

Dressed in a modern update of Roman Centurion's Armour with a old glory Cape and red, white and blue plumes helm.

 

 

Before America joined the war the centurion recruited mystery men from across the East coast to fight saboteurs, spies and fifth columnists.

 

 

So 6 to 13 members(seeing how we go) each from one of the original 13 states.

Often surprising, but never surprised, Dell Eisenbach is known in costume as Delaware Detective (creativity is not among his powers.)

 

His costume includes a mask that conceals the entire face, including eyes. The Delaware Detective has no need of mundane vision, being so psychically attuned to his surroundings as to render the sense of sight a superfluous distraction. He has saved the First Thirteen often from traps and ambushes he knew were there, or found something being sought no matter how carefully hidden. No one has ever snuck past him or taken him by surprise.

One of the mentalists active in the hero community has been lumbered with a rather silly name. You see it comes from a song. Georgia On My Mind. A telepath principally, Georgia can also use a light Mind Control which is stronger if used more as a suggestion. Similarly Mental Illusions. Georgia also can use a mind blast. She lives in Atlanta but her accent sounds more from Middle America than either North or South.

Pittsburgh Steel.

 

Piotr Eisenberg was born in Poland in the Warsaw ghetto. his family fled a few years before the nazi invasion seeing the way the wind was blowing. Piotr worked hard as a steel worker. When American bundists started attacking the Jewish and other immigrant communities piotr decided to do something about it. Constructing a suit of metal Armour with a hydraulic hammer fist. He smashed first fascist attacks and then organized crime before joining the first 13.

He calls himself Sol, which people assume is either his actual name or based on the sun (given his solar powers).  Both guesses are wrong.  His moniker is actually SOL, as in Son of Liberty.  Formerly a solo hero operating in the Boston area, he was asked to join the First Thirteen after his former mentor (and Massachusetts-based predecessor on the team) Minuteman was killed stopping a madman from blowing up a sports stadium.
