Certified
The new State of the game had several interesting updates. With that the new adventure pack was announced. Since it's based on a published adventure what are people's thoughts? The Demonflame Near the end of September, we are planning on launching the next adventure pack, The Demonflame. Here's the basic back plot, which some of you may remember from the Champions pen and paper game. Nearly 20 years ago, Luther Black used the full power of the DEMON organization that he'd built to cause the Demonflame Incident. Through vile magic and human sacrifice he created a flaming tower that rose into the sky, and at its peak he tried a horrific ritual to let him pry open the doors between worlds and take on unnatural powers. He was stopped by the combined forces of brave superheroes and, to everyone's surprise, VIPER. No one knows why VIPER lent their aid, but VIPER and DEMON have been fighting each other ever since. Luther Black's plan was foiled, and the tower disappeared. Now, with his plans deeply shaken and the day of reckoning coming fast, Luther Black has taken a desperate gamble to re-create the Demonflame incident. If he succeeds, he may be able to open a portal to the Qliphothic realm, and attain his apotheosis of evil. Work with the mystic hero Witchcraft of the Champions and Violette Boudreau of UNTIL's Project Hermes to discover what DEMON and Luther Black are planning in the chaotic realm known as the Qliphothic. Be prepared to face otherworldly horrors in order to stop Luther Black before he gains the power he seeks! The adventure pack has a new environment (Qliphoth) and a new critter group (the Qliphothic Horrors). It also has a bunch of other cool stuff in it. We've been playtesting it in-house and it's looking really great.
Lord Liaden
Re: Adventure Pack: The Demonflame Hmm... well, Cryptic Studios has been promising a Qliphothic adventure zone almost from the debut of the game, so this seems as reasonable a method to bring one in as any. And I can understand why the Edomite would want to finish what he started, all things considered. This version of the Demonflame appears to have a slightly different objective than the first one, though, so Nama may not feel the need to send in the VIPER cavalry. Otherwise there isn't really enough detail in this announcement to determine where they plan to go with it. That said, the text seems to imply that Cryptic is building up to actually running the culmination of the Edomite's plot in 2012, which could be several shades of awesome. danbuter1
Re: Adventure Pack: The Demonflame It sounds pretty cool to me. I like the Adventure Pack idea. It lets Cryptic add chunks of content and new locations, without a huge delay that would be involved with a large addition like Vibora Bay. Skadison
Re: Adventure Pack: The Demonflame If I play this adventure pack does it contribute to the MMO? So if I start this at lvl 11 and I end up as lvl 20 will I be lvl 20 in the MMO? Does the adventure also get recorded?
Certified
Re: Adventure Pack: The Demonflame All the adventure packs are part of the game as a whole. You will not loose what you gain in the Adventure pack. To help with expectations though playing though translates to about a half a level to a level. This may be more at lower levels but that's been my experience. For the best rewards you'll need to run an Adventure Pack on Very Hard. This means you should be able to solo missions a level or two above your level on Elite. Otherwise make sure to have a solid team going in. I don't think the rewards improve all that much when running on Elite. Good luck. Edit: Just noticed this was my "leet" post. I guess that makes it appropriate to talk about looting tactics and farming. Some people like to farm the Left Hand (Boss) for Blue Gear on Very Hard.
