Re: Kingdom of Champions expanded character sheets.

p118 - The Clansman http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/CLANSMAN.pdf

p136 - Earth Brother http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/EARTHBRO.pdf

The Clansman had some small mistakes in his writeup. The cost of his stats was 132, not 32. His languages should cost 4 points, not 6. His Flash Defense should cost 6 points not 7. His WF should cost 12 points, not 11. Total cost of the character is 398 points.

Re: Kingdom of Champions expanded character sheets.

In the days of Stronghold 1.0' date=' skills beyond, Acrobatics, Detective Work, Stealth and a couple of other directly supers related skills didn't exist. We didn't get skills till Champions III shipped (I guess some skills were in Champs II)[/quote']

I carefully pulled my Champions 1st edition book, 1981. The skills in Champions 1st edition were Acrobatics, Climbing, Computer Programming, Detective Work, Disguise, Find Weakness, Lack of Weakness, Luck, Martial Arts, Missile Deflection, Security Systems, Skill Levels, Stealth and Swinging. Thought you'd like a list of what skills were actually listed then.

Re: Kingdom of Champions expanded character sheets.

The Gurkha wouldn't be wielding duel machetes' date=' he would be wielding a kukri. It's their traditional weapon. Otherwise, I like the write-up. Berserk when honour challenged sounds very appropriate. :D[/quote']

Wouldn't he also have a great deal of stealth? The Gurkha were supposed to be quite stealthy after all and a superhero one ought to be the stealthiest of them all.

Re: Kingdom of Champions expanded character sheets.

I can assure you not.

My grandfather (my dad's dad) was with the 8th Army in North Africa and he was with the artillery. Well the Afrika Korps had an artillery position nearby and the Brits could not shift the Jerry and vice versa. So up come the Gurkhas. Did not do anything during the day but set off in the night. Next morning the Jerries were gone. And then you find out what the Gurkhas did. They got to the German position sneaked past the patrolling guards and beheaded two of the sleeping Germans before slipping out again undetected.

Re: Kingdom of Champions expanded character sheets.

The Gurkhas did earn a reputation for stealth.

I heard/read a story to the effect that to prove it a Gurkha unit was to infiltrate a British encampment and mark every bit of equiptment or building they could. In the morning every building had multiple marks on them along with every vehical and large piece of equiptment.

The Sentries who where on high alert never saw a single Gurkha or even suspected they were there.

p123 - Blaine

p158 - Gale Force (high point version)

p168 - Darkwing (high point version)

The high point version of Darkwing is based on Dr. Goldwing.

Re: Kingdom of Champions expanded character sheets.

I don't like KoC stylistically, and I don't like the content. Perhaps it's my disappointment in what I consider a very poor effort to present my favourite nation's super-community that makes me judge KoC so harshly?

Obviously there's some disagreement as to the precise degree of KoC's offenses....[wink]

I used to correspond with the author of KoC regularly back in the day -- this was before the Internet, real Dark Ages stuff! -- and we always 'agreed to disagree'. It was a lot of fun and stimulated a few ideas to boot.

Perhaps part of the problem as you see it is that KoC drew a lot from his own campaign? I know, a lot of what I've adapted and used from various Champions books -- heck, even different decades of Champions -- would have some people screaming in outrage. And the current iteration of my England-based hero team doesn't even have any English members. I have an expatriate Russian teleporter, a Welsh fire-blaster, an American biochemist, two Scots (one a mutant, one in powered armour), a flying brick from the Isle of Man, and a reworked version of Panda, who hails from Liverpool. Calling her 'English' is going to get a torrent of verbal abuse.

Re: Kingdom of Champions expanded character sheets.

It almost seems like English is considered a 'null' origin

In some quarters in the United Kingdom there are concerns about 'erosion of cultural identity'... Ironic given the official policy of reverse discrimination of recent years. I won't go into any of that -- I got massively flamed on another board by some lunatic who thinks I'm an unholy socialist with a pitchfork and cloven hooves just because I didn't agree with his views. I post here for ideas and a few laughs, not for abuse from some idiot on the other side of the world.

Kingdom of Champions

p123 - Sir David Mason http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/SIRDAVID.pdf

p158 - Sandstorm (high point version) http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/SANDSTOH.pdf

p184 - Shark Squad Agent http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/SHARK_SQ.pdf

p189 - Mile Laisseine http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/MILELAIS.pdf

p197 - Lesser Fomori http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/FOMORILE.pdf

I just assumed that Mile was a mutant telepath, no origin was given for her powers.

The Lesser Fomori were very obscure, because they are based on the writeup for Wintershade's demon form with changes, which in turn is based on the writeup for Powerhouse from the Champions book with changes.

Re: Kingdom of Champions expanded character sheets.

I was looking for advice on a few things. How much should the perk for being able to use Progenator devices cost? Also, thr are several writeups in KOC that reference a standard constable's stats (like the STOP agents). Anyone know where they are?
