Bless & curse are pretty much junk, however. Don't work mid combat, only last 6 rounds, require holy water (thus are costly, and holy water has much better uses).

Use prayer & recitation instead. Prayer (combat) gives allies +1 hit/dam/saves, foes -1 hit/dam/saves. Recitation (combat)gives +2 hit/saves & foes get -2 hit/saves. If their deity is the same as yours (& you, of course) get +3 hit/saves instead. Stacks with prayer. Stacks with chant too, for that matter, but chant sucks as it's your action to maintain. At least for higher level play. Bless/curse would as well, but again...pointless in such a game. If those 2 were not enough, there is L5 Righteous Wrath of the Faithful (war) but it's truly only effective on folks of the same faith. It's +1 hit/save & d8 bonus HP to allies, but if faith is shared, they go into righteous frenzy, with +2 hit/save(+3 vs mind affecting), and an extra attack per round. Characters are fatigued after it's over.

A low level, but sometimes potent self buff is Draw Upon Holy Might (summoning). It raises either Str, Dex, Con, or Chr +1 per 3 levels. When it ends, you are basically helpless for a time, though, so it's best used at high levels, in need, and typically only on STR if & only if it breaks into a 19+. So if you have STR 13, that would be L18+ (caps at +6 anyway).

Nap (time), is the ultimate L2 spell. Pretty much a game breaker in terms of resource management.

Dictate (charm, law), as mentioned, is a vastly improved command spell (which was great in low/mid levels), is OP. Music of the Spheres (charm, numbers) is sweet, but really stands out by giving others a -3 save penalty vs further mind affecting magics. Charm person or mammal (animal) & Hold person (charm), for examples, are classics for good reason.

Chaotic Commands (chaos) guards someone vs mind control, and for fun, such attacks rebound on the attacker! Physical Mirror (numbers) is amazing defense vs ranged attacks/spells, again making them eat their own attacks. Chaos Ward (chaos) is a good low level defense vs ranged attacks/spells. Makes them eat them sometimes as well, yet again. Entropy Shield (chaos) is a big daddy of defense; protection vs most everything.

Battlefate (chaos): is insanely good for a L1 combat buff spell as your level rises. +1 per 3 levels (max +5 at 13+) to a random combat stat. random d6: nothing, AC, saves, to hit, damage, or a free attack with either + to hit or damage. Usable on self or another, at range. Incredible.

Etherealness (astral) is absurd for it's level. Dimensional Folding (numbers) is better than teleport. Probability Control (numbers) removes all danger from either, among the host of uses one could have for odds adjustments.

Then we have the long lasting buffs/bonuses. Sacred Guardian (guardian) on an ally (probably the scout), Unfailing Endurance (necromancy) on everyone. Blessed watchfulness (guardian) to protect vs surprise (& sleep/mind affecting), Iron Vigil (guardian) is always on, so you only eat, drink & sleep when you want to. Hold poison (healing) reveals slow poison(healing) for the pretender it is. Day/level.

I'm sure the devils teleporting away has sucked for you; dimensional anchor is the answer to extra planar teleporters & wizards. No escape/defense, no save, CT 1. "Time to die!"

conjure X elemental (elemental X) are all amazing pets/meat shields. The Animal Summoning (animal) line is amazing; they can last a journey. Conjure Animals (summoning) can call up what you need on the spot. Animal Friendship (animal) for around the clock, non disposable allies, pretty much a free fighter henchman. Animal Growth (animal) in conjunction. The results when placed on high HD animals can be truly stunning. Combine with the buffs I started with for sheer insanity.

Free Action for those awful immobilizing spells/conditions (slow, hold, web, entangle, solid fog, water, etc, etc). True Seeing for all illusions, with a side bonus of seeing alignments, the shape changed, displaced, out of phase & secret doors. Protection vs evil blocks all summoned/conjured critters AND mind control. The 10'r version lasts a good long time, & well, is a 10'r.

Call lightning, for dealing damage to make an invoker envious.

Then there are the divination/information spells, but I've said enough for the time being. I want to get to the specifics of your game.

So, if the planes are all mashed together, you have a real advantage vs devils (& others), in that they STAY DEAD, as they are on their home plane, if you kill them. So KILL THEM and they can't tell anyone what you've done/used. Holy Word is terrific, but it looses much when it can't banish extra planar types. I've no idea why it would stand out more than blade barrier or symbol in such a scenario.

Sure, hiding your power is a viable tactic sometimes, but so too is being your super HL ass-kicking selves. Crush the forces of hell like dung beetles under your heel whenever opportunity allows or circumstance dictates. One thing that IS an issue, is that few cleric spells reduce or ignore MR. Hopefully a wizard has lower resistance or similar spell. Of course, you can just power up your allies or self when direct magic will not work well.

So you have the all, animal, astral, combat, creation, guardian, healing, necromantic, plant, protection, sun & wards spheres? plus minor in charm, divination, time & summoning? bonus spell/L from plant, wizard necromancy, super turn powers & immunity to level drains? Holy crud 8O . I hope the DM at least knows to stick you on the sp priest XP table from demihuman deities. It's insane in any event. Have fun!

I've had a concept for a handful of episodes hinting that there exist entities which engineer entire galaxies the way humans engineer major infrastructure projects like dams, freeway systems, and major port facilities.  Not sure there's been speculations of entities operating on this scale before, at least on TV.


First episode in this thread (I imagine you'd have one or two of these in a season, farming out this idea out over multiple seasons) has the ship and crew encounter a gravitational slingshot of unprecedented scale.  While small ones have been built for use as mass drivers within a star system (and making one of these is a terrifying engineering task, fraught with dangers that usually override the tuility of such a system), this one is scaled up by almost a factor of a million.

In the opening sequence, the ship is buffeted by the strong, contorted gravitational fields in and around the structure, and tidal forces that nearly tear it apart.  After backing off and doing a few "orbits" of the structure ... it is star-system in size ... it becomes apparent that it is a coherent structure of intense gravitational fields in a configuration that cannot possibly be natural.  The difficulty is that by its nature the structure is surrounded by intense and variable warps in space-time so that only very short range sensors can examine the pieces of it.

The assembly itself is cylindrical (though that isn't apparent at first) about the size of a star system (roughly 200 AUs long by 20 AUs in diameter), and consists of a few dozen black holes of varying mass held in relative position by gravitor-repulsor systems of stupendous power (individual units in the structural system are powerful enough to unbind a Sun-like star).  When something is put into the launch nexus of the structure, it is accelerated to very nearly lightspeed, and it seems that anything small enough to fit in the structure will be launched (so stars and binary star systems, and individual black holes, seem to be the intended projectiles).  It makes more sense as a delivery mechanism rather than a weapons system; the background of galaxy cluster gravitational fields means the trajectory cannot be counted upon once the "projectile" has gone a hundred megaparsecs or so.  The assembly isn't aimed at anything in particular at this time (just a line out of the Galaxy, Local Group, and Local Supercluster tht isn't along the way toward any particular galaxy or galaxy cluster).  Nothing seems to have been launched recently ... but anything beyond ten megaparsecs now woudl be redshifted into indetectability.

The exhaust from the launch (which also carries the reaction momentum, leaving the assembly intact and in place) is a highly relativistic jet of hundred-million-degree but very tenuous plasma, which is highly collimated and escapes the galaxy, much like the gas expelled from a quasar accretion disk that builds double-lobed radio sources.  The radiation from such jets is (again) beamed strongly away from the source of the jets, so nothing of the sort if obvious at this time.

The launch operation would be horrifically obvious in gravitational waves, but since it seems not to have been triggered in a long time, there's nothing in the historical record that corresponds to such an event.  In electromagnetic phenomena, as long as projectile and exhaust beam aren't pointed at you, you wouldn't notice.

The implication is that some conscious entity or civilization is delivering pieces of our galaxy to an unknown extragalactic location, and whatever that is, it maintains coherent thought and plans over at least hundreds of millions of years.
