Major Tom 2009
Re: "Space" music recommendation! Here're some titles of instrumental music that could be used as "space" music: Armada 1,000 Ships of the Underworld Interceptors Duel All by Two Steps From Hell, and Tomb Raider: Underworld main theme by Troels Fohlmann. There are a few other pieces of music done by Two Steps From Hell that fit the category of "space" music, but I can't remember their titles at the moment. The ones that I've mentioned here can be found on YouTube, however, along with many others. Major Tom 2009
Xavier Onassiss
Re: "Space" music recommendation! And there's more. I recently finished watching the reimagined Battlestar Galactica series, and Bear McCreary's musical score was amazing. Although some consider season three (and four) the weakest of the lot, I believe S3 had the best soundtrack. These two are awesome: ...and I don't know if you consider it "space music", but this reinterpretation of a classic rock standard (and the way they used it in the show) took guts, whether the plot device worked or not. (I'm still undecided on that point.)

Cancer
Re: "Space" music recommendation! For "spacey" music GO usually attributed to Stomu Yamash'ta (who was only one of the people in that short-lived supergroup) is very good. His followup "GO Too", not so much. Lord Liaden
Re: "Space" music recommendation! For suspenseful "classic" science-fiction space music, IMHO you can't do better than Bernard Herrman's theremin-rich score for the original movie The Day the Earth Stood Still. Below is a suite which he arranged based on the score, part of the album, The Fantasy Film World of Bernard Herrman:
