Psybolt Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 I have been reading the other wrestling thread on this site but I am constantly irritated by the snarky comments by the people claiming to be wrestling fans there. I get so tired of it that I decided to start a new thread where real wrestling fans can come to talk about their love of wrestling without those people who continually want to put it down because it "sucks" or that Miz or Orton or Cena or whatever sucks. I am not asking for people to like everything about the WWE (or TNA). I don't like everything. But I would ask that those Internet "smarts" who have nothing but negative things to say to stay away. Of course, with the IWC being a gripe-filled group, maybe no one else will post here. So... to start... I enjoyed Jerry Lawler's effort on Raw Monday night. And it doesn't bother me at all that he is 61 years old and nearly beat Miz, the WWE champion. I enjoyed the TLC match and I also liked Michael Cole's interference. Makes for interest in what is gonna happen next. And Miz... is going to well in his role as a champion who could lose at any time and needs help to win... but wins anyway. Quote
Logan D. Hurricanes Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Re: WWE Non-Snark Free Zone I have to admit, I enjoyed the Miz/Lawler match. The fact that they made it a TLC match and gave Lawler multiple weapons almost made it look like he had a chance. I really wondered what their angle going into it was, because there's no way they give the belt to Lawler at this point, but they mentioned several times that it was the King's birthday, so I'm convinced it was simply his present from the WWE. There were a couple good matches in the show, in fact. I'm very interested to see what they do with the King of the Ring now. It's been buried for a long time (but suspending the winner will do that). I remember back when it used to be a major deal, like with the Macho King. It can be fun if really played up. Quote
Cygnia Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Re: WWE Non-Snark Free Zone I believe it was Lawler's birthday yesterday, so giving him a match like that makes sense. Quote

Perhaps you should not have titled it the Non Snark Free Zone then... Quote
Enforcer84 Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Re: WWE Non-Snark Free Zone I admit I was confused. Quote
RexMundi Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Re: WWE Non-Snark Free Zone As was I. Maybe someone can fix it, but then of course it should also come with a description of just what snark/non snark is. *shrug* I didn't mind that match. But then I like Lawler and any of the other old Hall of Famers that have enough left in the tank to get in the ring. And I hate the Miz but then, that shows he's working well as a Heel, and the cowardly Heel that always needs "help", that's classic wrestling right there so I'm fine with it. ~Rex Quote
wrestlinggeek Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Re: WWE Non-Snark Free Zone I admit I was psyched by the Miz/Lawler match, especially those times when it looked like the King was gonna pull it off. I've laways enjoyed watching him wrestler, especially when he's beating down some young punk who's too full of himself. Kind of makes you wonder where they're gonna go with it next, though. As far as Lawler's interaction with Michael Cole from now on, I mean. I would love to see Lawler decide he can't work with Cole anymore, and step back inot the ring full-time. After all, he did almost beat the WWE champion last night. Quote
wrestlinggeek Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Re: WWE Non-Snark Free Zone On another topic, what do the rest of you think of the current state of TNA? Personally, I liked it much better before Hogan came onboard. Although I am looking forward to a bif Samoa Joe push. But then, it seems like I've been looking forward to that for a long time. Quote
Cygnia Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Re: WWE Non-Snark Free Zone Here's my question: who's going to be the voice of the faces at the commentary table if Lawler steps away? While I could hear dueling heels with Punk and Cole (with Punk never respecting Cole), there does need to be someone to try to at least call the match while everyone else is going for the put-downs and one-liners. After all, he was rooting for the King the whole match. This could be why they brought Punk into ther announce team to begin with. So he could take Lawler's place when he retires or gets back in the ring. I'd love to see him wrestle for one more year, culminating with him finally winning the WWE title before retiring for good. Or that could just be wishful thinking on my part. Quote
wrestlinggeek Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Re: WWE Non-Snark Free Zone Here's a question: Who would you say is the most under-rated pro wrestler of all time? Who, in your opinion, just never got their due? For me, it would have to be Arn Anderson. Quote
Psybolt Posted December 1, 2010 Author Report Posted December 1, 2010 Re: WWE Non-Snark Free Zone I knew I messed the thread title as soon as I posted it. If there is someone out there who can either remove the Non or the Free, I would be grateful. As for some of the comments, I would say about TNA... they should stop being like the WWE or even WCW. They have a great group of talent stars, and they should focus on those. I think they could be a successful company if they focused on being a true alternative rather than another entertainment organization. I mean Angle, Hardy, Samoa Joe, Styles, MCMG are some talented individuals. Most under-rated wrestler? Arn Anderson is a good choice. He was highly respected though. Barry Windham was really pretty good and may never have gotten his true due. Quote
Psybolt Posted December 1, 2010 Author Report Posted December 1, 2010 Re: WWE Non-Snark Free Zone I have to say, I am really enjoying the work of CM Punk as an announcer. He has really brought some thought to the booth. He is funny, quick witted and has more insight than I am used to. If I didn't love him so much as a wrestler, I would be wishing he would remain as part of the team. Quote
Yoshi Tonic Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Re: WWE Non-Snark Free Zone Punk is freaking amazing as an announcer. He was great back in his RoH days, and just great now. The things he gets away with are hilarious too. From all sorts of inside remarks to wearing a freaking Colt Cabana shirt on Monday Night RAW. Quote
Psybolt Posted December 1, 2010 Author Report Posted December 1, 2010 Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone Thanks for whomever changed the title of the thread. I appreciate it! Quote
Psybolt Posted December 1, 2010 Author Report Posted December 1, 2010 Re: WWE Non-Snark Free Zone Punk's line on Monday night: "He spilled my diet soda!" after Cena put Slater through the announce table... as if the soda was the worst thing that happened. Then he kept on it. He said announcing without a table is hard. And he called John Cena out as a "fan." Punk is just very enjoyable... and makes me think back to the good old days with Jesse Ventura and Bobby Heenan. Quote
Yoshi Tonic Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone "He knocked over my soda, I'm calling the cops." "Good to know a DUI is job security." "That's why I'm a wrestler." "Superstar" "You say tomato..." Quote
Psybolt Posted December 1, 2010 Author Report Posted December 1, 2010 Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone "That's why I'm a wrestler." "Superstar" "You say tomato..." I missed that one. That's funny. Quote

That was the thing that really got me when Hogan and company came on board, symbolized very well by his introduction of the "New" Impact Zone. "Gee, how original and innovative. They've replaced the six-sided ring with a square one." Just said to me that the new direction was going to be eliminating everything that made TNA a true alternative to WWE, instead of just the wrestling show that's on Thursday nights. Quote
Psybolt Posted December 3, 2010 Author Report Posted December 3, 2010 Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone There has been discussion of replacing Striker on PPV with CM Punk. Apparently part of the hold back would be that they wouldn't want an All-Raw PPV broadcast team (Lawler, Cole & Punk). Cole & Lawler reportedly aren't big fans of Striker. Quote
The Main Man Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone Reportedly? Ha! Just listen to 'em rib him on and on during past Raws. It's Lame I tells ya. Too bad we can't have Stryker and Punk on the same commentary team - Punk as color commentary and Stryker as either a play-by-play or a "third man" like Mike Tenay was on WCW. Quote
Yoshi Tonic Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone Replace Lawler on the PPV teams with Punk and then we're talking. He's so obviously unprepared on every show and not knowledgeable about his own product it is sad. Quote
Psybolt Posted December 5, 2010 Author Report Posted December 5, 2010 Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone WWE released MVP. That is too bad. I liked him, and I always thought he could be a top performer. I think he was better as a heel, but he crowd seemed to get behind him as a face. Quote
Cygnia Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone Actually, MVP asked for his own release. Quote
RexMundi Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone Yeah MVP has.....other offers on the table......expect him showing up in TNA in a few weeks. ~Rex Quote
