Spence
I have a clarification question about the Hudson City color map. On the map subways are indicated by wider gray lines, elevated rail by RR tracks and stations by gray boxes. But on several points the elevated rails become something else indicated by two parallel lines. Does this indicate the line runs at street level? I attached a pic pointing out the item in question. Thanks in advance.
Tom
Re: Hudson City Map Question I'd assume it was a tunnel, based on my experience with real rail lines. But I'm not the voice of authority in this matter. I do notice that the description in the book indicates the EL does come down to street level in places (pg 25). The book map also does not correspond to the map snippet you're showing either, for what that might be worth (pg 65) since the color map includes a lot more detail. It has several area's where the tracks become double lines unlike the book maps that show tracks all the way through. I am about to gear up a game in a Hudson City without interstate highways that relies on rail and transport like the 40's. So an accurate understanding of what the map means will be important for the players (and me).

I just thought I'd see if there was an 'official' answer.

One of my players from an earlier game got me the color map as a gift and had it printed out large on a sheet of vinyl. Great resource. Steve Long
Re: Hudson City Map Question Based on the example you posted, I think it means "Keith removed the hatching from that section of the track so that you could more easily read text overlaid upon it." I'd have to dig out my own copy and look for other examples to see if that explanation holds true though.
