And that's likely to land them on the sex offender registry, which is a very, VERY nasty black mark that will not come off. Experian's sent 2 notices of sex offenders in my area in the last...6 months or so. Name, address. It's public info. And it's just part of the credit monitoring. unclevlad Posted September 9, 2022 Report Share Posted September 9, 2022 What's scary as heck to me is that the Florida commission overseeing judges, went with (according to an NBC story on this) a $50,000 fine and 120 day suspension...backed up by a report from the Florida Bar Association. Another reason why this was egregious on the part of the judge...if anyone *needed* more...this is from the Bar Assoc's story https://www.floridabar.org/the-florida-bar-news/court-removes-brevard-county-judge-murphy/ Quote Judge Murphy returned to the courtroom and called eight cases of defendants who stood alone. In one case, when Judge Murphy asked the defendant what he wanted to do with his DUI case, the defendant said he had “no idea what to do in this situation. I haven’t had a chance to speak to my public defender. And now, I don’t have a public defender.” Judge Murphy told the defendant that he might have a chance to talk to a public defender if he waived speedy trial, so the defendant did so. That's rather damaging to those defendants. I don't think it's grounds to overturn any adverse finding down the line, as these are preliminary hearings, but it's really bad.
