bluesguy
So I am looking at the Arcanomancy spells in the Grimoire II book and there is one spell that I think would be very useful to this type of mage. So a mage, George casts his Rod of Magic spell, which is a constant spell as long as he pays end. Then Tim the Evil Enchanter casts a Fireball at Mary but instead of the fireball flying towards Mary, the fireball turns direction and heads towards George, who has other spells up and running (walls, shields, absorption, suppress, etc) which keeps George from being fried. The Rod of Magic spell basically causes magic to be attracted to the Rod that George has in his hand. Any ideas?

Jas
Re: A spell that acts like a "lightning rod for magic" I like Deflection, usable on others, with an automatic side effect that it is deflected into the wielder of the device. Shadowsoul
Re: A spell that acts like a "lightning rod for magic" How about, Deflection, Constant, Only Works Against Magic with the side effect mentioned by Jas above?
Christopher
Re: A spell that acts like a "lightning rod for magic" Reflection has a Feedback Limitation. Could be expanded to How about: Change Environment (big covered area), High OCV penalty/DCV bonus, "Only to redirect attacks to user of this power" Basically you protect an area (what you bought the CE to). If the enemies made the attack despite the penalty, they hit the intended Target. Otherwise they might hit you Alternatively: Change Environment (big covered area), High OCV penalty, "works as Bonus to hit the character". Attacks are drawn to you, but won't automatically hit you (like earths gravity attracts meteroids, but does not automatically make them hit it). If however you are the inteded target... I used a similar logic in a different Tread. It was about negating Hit Locations: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php/90100-more-martial-arts?p=2360750#post2360750
bluesguy
Re: A spell that acts like a "lightning rod for magic" Thank you all... Deflection seems to be a good approach. Basically constant, end, side effect is that the Focus (Oak staff w/ ornate carvings/inlays of precious metals) takes the damage from the magic attack, and a couple of other things. This is perfect. Tasha
Re: A spell that acts like a "lightning rod for magic" How about a big Suppress. Any spell that is cast near the rod is "sucked" into it. It has the benefit of not having to roll to have it happen (ie no OCV vs OCV)
