Pol Pot had everyone who wore eyeglasses executed because he thought people who wore glasses might be decadent intellectuals.

I found the murder of Kulak farmers and the subsequent starvation of millions to be a great example of why socialism and communism should be avoided like the plague.

The plague should also be avoided like the plague but now we're back to the Ebola story where the conversation started....

I can understand to some extent stealing from doctors, who are wealthy compared to the general population, and stealing medicines for themselves or for resale.

I have a real problem wrapping my head around shooting undefended doctors and burning down medical facilities which might be otherwise be resupplied with valuable medicines. That just doesn't work well within my personal worldview.

Course, doctors kind of have to wealthy in comparison to the general.  If not, you will be short on doctors (lot of training needed to working on slave wages)

Or, you could do what other countries do, and subsidize their training.

On a slightly different note, both grandparents on my Dad's side were country doctors in Central Maine during the middle part of the 20th century, starting pretty much around the time of the Great Depression. They were sometimes paid in apples, or potatoes, or chickens, and neither would have been considered very wealthy, and my Mom had commented that they were retired and still paying on their student loans.

Apparently there are some conspiracy theories that Ebola/HIV/other common outbreak was caused by the white people/westerners/generic conspiracy.

Based on that broken asumption, those Treatment centers could appear as being the cause of the outbreaks.

The usual stuff that happens if we allow Conspiracy Theories to become mainstream.

First you said the cause was a "us vs them" menatlity.

Now you say it is "Socialism"*

*For me they were at tops Dictatorships calling themself socialist. You know, the usual bleep all Opressive Regimes claim to justify being opressive monsters. For me even calling them socialist would mean I fell for their Propaganda.

I was specifically talking about the volunteer aid worker doctors compared to their patients in impoverished African countries.

A doctor there often lives in poverty without many amenities when measured by Western standards. But they're still usually much better off than the people who come to their clinics.

"Despite its impact, the fungus hasn't attracted the same attention as wildlife diseases such as white-nose syndrome, a fungal disease that infects bats."

I was glad the article brought this up.

Before you can enter a tourist cave that has bats, at least in the US in recent years, you have to lightly scrub the soles of your shoes on an anti-fungal mat to help scrape off whatever contaminants you've picked up and keep from taking contaminants inside the cave with you.

I would think that requiring people to do that with the soles of their shoes before getting on an airplane or ship would be better than the "nothing" which is currently happening to help prevent the spread of funguses and diseases.

Wipe your feet, wash your hands, and do a 360 degree turn through a strong blast of wind to dislodge pollens and spores from your clothing while you're being exposed to a strong UV light.

If that seems a little extreme, consider that I'd rather everyone have to take a shower at the airport and that all the clothes travelers are bringing with them be washed at the airport and you'll see that a little hand washing seems almost not nutty in comparison. ;)

And I am just hoping the food service people wash their hands after pooping.

Note: And the UV light might be a bit much.  If the spore is till there after all the rest of that, I might just salute it and let it be on its way. ;)

Report Reveals Jesus Christ May Have Benefited From Father’s Influential Position To Gain High-Powered Role As Lord And Savior

"Examining evidence from the Gospels, as well as recently unearthed ancient Christian and Gnostic texts, researchers at Yale Divinity School concluded that Christ’s close familial relationship to the Creator of Heaven and Earth likely contributed to His meteoric rise from obscure carpenter to high-level divinity"

The Alliance of American Football has suspended operations and seems to have folded short only the final announcement. While TV ratings have been OK, the stands have been mostly empty in the seven weeks of games played so far. Plans to serve as a developmental league for the NFL also fell flat, with the players union balking at subjecting practice squad players to the possibility of in-game injuries that would derail what few hopes of sticking with an NFL club they have.
