Michael Hopcroft
On 4/20/2020 at 3:09 PM, Old Man said: Oil is trading at negative $37/barrel after the Russians and Saudis pumped so much of it during a pandemic that there is literally nowhere to store it. The consequences for the Saudi regime could be catastrophic. I read that they need a price of $80 a barrel to sustain and diversify their economy. We'll probably never get to $80 a barrel again as demand lessens. Russia may be better equipped to weather the transition to a post-petroleum economy. Lord Liaden
Ironically, the years of global economic sanctions against Russia have actually helped insulate it from the coronavirus fallout: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/20/world/europe/russia-coronavirus-covid-19.html

I'm not so sure; Russia is little more than a petrostate with nukes at this point in its history.
Sociotard
Some of their software is good (ie Kaspersky). And they sell lots of natural gas. Those prices are a bit low, but not unreasonable for the time of year.

Michael Hopcroft
North Korea has become a Schrödinger's Nation, where leader Kim Jong Un is simultaneously alive and dead. The current story is that he had heart surgery and it was botched. Kim may have died from complications. Or he may be hanging on for dear life, at least until a replacement is secure. Or he might be recovering peacefully and be on the road to recovery. Aside from his sister and a few key insiders, nobody knows until the news is announced one way or another. Thus Kim Jong Un is simultaneously alive and dead. ScottishFox and Lord Liaden

Old Man
No, he's much fatter. It'll be ironic if he effectively died of obesity in a country famous for famine and starving citizens.
Badger
Ok, he is a bloated version of the nation's people. But, come on, North Korean citizens are in a state where there are not quite alive, cant quite die.
