Epiphanis
Would it be in poor taste to set an irradiated-mutant adventure in post-meltdown Fukushima?
death tribble
Depends on the sensitivity of your players. Otherwise I would say not.
Lord Liaden
I think it would also depend on tone. If it's just an excuse to smash some mutants, with no empathy toward the real suffering and fear that's there, I personally would question it. It's like the difference between Godzilla as just a big radioactive lizard smashing stuff, versus Godzilla as metaphor for the horrors of nuclear weaponry. Cancer
You could call it Four Mile Island. Or do you want the Japanese setting?
massey
Would anyone really care if it was in poor taste?
BlueCloud2k2
Again it depends upon the group you play with
Philip Nicholls
were I to be playing I would leave the group, if you used this tragedy in an adventure
lemming
I'm with Lord Liaden, if treated with respect it would probably be OK. Based on how many origins come from sources that are just as bad. How many origins are tied to Nagasaki & Hiroshima? However, it really depends on the players and we can't answer that for you. They do. BlueCloud2k2
As I said, it would depend upon who you game with. I think it would be bad taste, and I would let the GM know it.
massey
Wow, you guys would really really hate my group.
Epiphanis
Is it just a 'too soon' thing? Games, comics and movies have been made around Cherobyl without much offense perceived. I'm certainly old enough to remember Chernobyl. If I came back to the Fukushima idea in ten years, would it be okay then?

Chernobyl is almost 30 years in the past: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chernobyl Three miles island was 7 Years before that. Both very different from Fukushima wich happened barely 3 Years and 1 Month ago. Even 9/11 with it's 13 Years would still be problematic. Old Man
Fukushima is still happening, actually. It wouldn't bother me to play a game having to do with it, unless it was really, really in poor taste. But ymmv.
