The original training was against Arrows and similar projectiles. Something they did had back in the days of Greece. Personally I find the Invisible Jet with Mental Interface a lot less understandable as far as Wonder Womans powers go. In the Justice League Animated Series Wonder Woman could fly without the Invisible Jet, but needed the Team's Javelin aircraft to fly long distances. At the beginning of Justice League Unlimited she had the Invisible Jet. The explanation is simple. The animated movie Crisis on Two Earths had the league building a new satellite headquarters, and call in other heroes. This is in the aftermath of the events of the final episodes of the second season where the team was betrayed by Hawkgirl, and she left the League. On Earth Three, home of the Crime Syndicate Wonder Woman acquires Owlman's Jet, which is stuck in invisible mode do to damage, and takes it back to Earth One as "The spoils of war." The movie doesn't exactly fit into the continuity of the Justice League the series because of some story changes but is a good explanation why the Amazon Princess as her iconic invisible aircraft.
